In the yiddish version of Fiddler On The Roof If I Was A Rich Man was translated to If I Was A Rothschild. I don't know why they used that word. It could be so the translation fits the music or since Yiddish is a mixture of words from several languages it could have been used as a word to describe a "Rich Jew" Like the Stars & Bars which started out a confederate battle flag but now symbolizes racism, in Fiddler it is a good word, but used as the title of a movie about greed, it is an anti Semitic word.
