Review: In ‘Happy Talk,’ Susan Sarandon Escapes Into Amateur Acting

The privileged Mr. Eisenberg must stop writing plays immediately. I’m all but convinced I just saw Susan Sarandon starring in a first draft tonight. Flat, trite, cliched drivel, filled with characters with as much depth as a cheese grater. The audience around me grew more and more restless as this agony went on. I’ve never seen more fidgeting or watch checking nor can I recall the last time I heard such a chorus of exasperated sighs. With all the talent out there, scratching and clawing to be heard, it’s a shame that must take a back seat to the Jesse Eisenbergs of the world, who give us nothing more than bitter nuances etched into the headstones of his stillborn plays.

"And now, one of the four copies of Rabbit (1986) in the world, previously owned by Condé Nast owner S.I. Newhouse, has been consigned to Christie’s,..." From the artsy.net website. Question: Isn't the history of art sales connected to the idea that there's but one 'original'? If one of the other owners of Rabbit sells their copy for $70M, does it devalue Mnuchin's Rabbit?

I am disgusted by Susan Sarandon.

Susan Sarandon helped elect Donald Trump. I will never support anything she does ever again.

@Ray McKenzie No, she supported Bernie. Who could have beaten Trump. SO you helped elect Donald Trump. She doesn't want you in the audience

I’m so tired of hearing that Bernie would have beaten Trump, given that he wasn’t even able to prevail in the primaries. His delegate shortfall would have been worse had it not been for the caucuses, where the winner is simply the candidate whose supporters have nothing better to do on a weekday - such as work, for instance. Back to the topic at hand, the show is very much worth seeing. BB mercifully avoided being a spoiler. I’ll say that when it is revealed it’s a doozy.

@Northern Perspective, regarding "She doesn't want you in the audience" Something about Ms. Sarandon suggests to me that not only would she not mind having Ray McKenzie in the audience, but I'd bet a dollar if it could be kept supervised and civil, she'd probably enjoy a nice debate about what the divisive aspects of the 2016 Democratic primary should tell our side for the future, which is next year. (How about in that welcoming Pershing Square common area?). It's occurred to me that she'd be a fascinating choice whenever Laurie Metcalf moves on from "Hillary and Clinton." (or a video version if Ms. Metcalf doesn't care to do that)
