A human cuisinart is a great description.

John Wick films define "guilty pleasure". More of a carnival ride than fine art. But just as enjoyable!

I do enjoy good writing. In this review I can't get over how precise and efficient is this sentence: "Dumb as dirt and twice as filling, “Chapter 3” is a symphony of dazzlingly sterile, cartoonish abuse." I think Jeannette Catsoulis should be particularly proud of that one. Pretty much tells me I can wait for a couple years until this is streamed somewhere that I've already paid for.

Yes I know this type of movie is pure entertainment but I like John Wick movies. I'll take one of these movies anytime over the Marvel Comics barrage of characters that are nothing but cartoons for adult men. OMG! Now I'm excommunicado.
40
& I suppose John Wick isn’t a cartoon of a grown man?

What is curious to me is that in this movie world, the only thing that matters, that sparks outrage is harm to dogs. Humans? Who cares! But listen, anyone can love a dog - it takes no talent. Loving humans is where the thrill and adventure begins!

Way too violent and sadistic for me.

the first one was suprising, quirky and clever, the second one devolved into tedium, i;m afraid to see how bad the third one is..

I love these movies and have already purchased tickets to see this one tomorrow night. They're incredibly beautiful and stylized and Keanu is at his peak - which is amazing considering he's 50!
19
@Shane Yes, Peak Keanu! BTW, he's 54 and wait for this...on May 31, Keanu looking very much like John Wick becomes Ali Wong's love interest in the romcom "Always Be My Maybe"! I just saw the trailer last night!

Keanu is reported to have said: "I'll make John Wick movies as long as fans will watch them".
I shoot competitively, watching Keanu go through his paces is fun. Rifle, pistol, shotgun, blazing away at multiple targets as fast as possible. Oh, my.

The John Wick films are absolutely the best in violent American cinema. I love them and anticipate John Wick 4-5-6—
The Wick films are a martial arts, choreographed ballet of destruction.
John Wick is today’s Man With No Name, except he has one. Exeunt Clint Eastwood - Stage left.

I’m losing track of how many movies this actor done in a black suit and tie. He is the Steve Jobs of Action Hero’s except when he is time traveling to other cultures and centuries. Maybe it’s time to put him in “Men in Black” he already has the uniform.

John Wick 3—yes I will go to see it. The first two were not . . . intellectual films, but weirdly fresh and surprising.
Now, not so fresh, but truly, the fight scenes are so spectacularly choreographed—so skillful, fast and astounding—that they are enough to see the film. Plot doesn't matter (or course not). It's like watching an outrageously practiced cohort performing a violent Olympic-level dance.
Keanu Reeves is great in these: they make perfect use of his talents.
48
Considering the phenomenal success, I'd say it was a well-made and entertaining "fluke".

If Keanu Reeves is an actor than I'm an astronaut.

He’s not an actor. He’s a movie star. (My Favorite Year)

I like Keanu Reeves. He can make any movie he choses but I'm not sure what he's trying to prove.

Although I'm mostly lock and step with the NY Times movie critics on most movies, here I must digress. I felt the first two John Wick installments were fresh takes on the action genre. There is a chance that I won't like but not for the reasons stated in the review.
And thank you for the review.

Another ‘John Wick’ installment is certainly better than another bad 80’s reboot, or completely unnecessary biopic about someone who’s still alive.
All the guy wanted was to be left alone with his dog.
