51-year-old metalhead here. Metal is old, just like me. Metal is not something you grow out of. However, I do have a much harder time getting up the next day after a show. That doesn’t stop me though. Great article, great photos!

I'm a 50yr old woman, I work in a corporate environment and I have loved metal since being a teenager. I had a good childhood, I do not "look the part": no tattoos, no piercings, but that kind of music always appealed to me. My work can be pretty intense and I have to remain polite towards some people who should be slapped and listening to Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Iron Maiden and others after work always relaxes me!
