Rupert Murdoch knew what he was doing, selling out to Disney and spinning out the rest. The dumbest money right now is spent on broadcast advertising. It's an entire industry on auto pilot because of ego and ignorance. This is the band on the Titanic.
Netflix made more movies than any studio last year. Their tv shows have no ads, are always bingeable, and have every tech blog writing about them. Game of thrones has no ads. So many people lack cable TV or an antenna.
And how will a generation that can't afford cable TV and sees empty stadiums and has a million alternatives, get hooked on live sports?
Broadcast TV already hit the iceberg, but everyone still thinks it's too big to fail. Ask SportsCenter, ask Star Trek, ask Disney.

Just imagine how better off this nation and the world would be without the nightly hate-fest of prime time Fox agent provocateurs (Hannity, Carlson, Ingraham) and their B-list pals (Piro, Dodd) who have used lies and misinformation to divide
and conquer reason and common sense. Be a true patriot, Mr. Collins: clean house.

Be careful what you wish for. Who will fill the void if the "fair and balanced"network stops existing?
The demise of Fox or Faux news as I prefer to call it, can not come too soon. While I'm fully in favor of free speech, I would be happy to see the demise of the closest thing evern in this country to a state supported propaganda machine. They, along with right wing radio have poisened the waters of free and open discourse in this country. They had a major role in helping elect our minority president who lost the popular vote by 3 mill who is the greatest treat to freedom and democracy that this country has ever known. We will be a better country without Fox news.

@Mike My goodness. Have you watched MSNBC or CNN lately? Talk about propaganda! Of course you don't see things clearly when you are partisan. As a relatively objective independent I can say that Roger Ailes started this biased "journalism" at Fox but his spirit is alive and well at MSNBC, CNN and even The New York Times.

If Fox “News” existed in the 60’s we would still be in Vietnam.

@rpe123 Written like a true believer in all things Faux News. I dont watch CNN, but I do occasionally tune in to MSNBC and yes they have a point of view but they do not pretend to be a news channel like fox "NEWS" does. Your self assesment that you are "a relatively objective independent"who equates what fox news puts out with the NYTimes and even MSNBC is grossly inaccurate.

If I may pitch a show:
Set in the year 2050 where the climate is out of control. A US family manages to resettle at the Arctic Circle. They become part of a primitive tribe that forms to defend themselves. They are forbidden form using anything but renewable resources, travel is by foot, horse or sailboat. They must fend off a crazy world while having the kids ask why the millennial generation did nothing.

Why not ask why the baby boomers did everything to create the world they now live in? The millennials did not create this mess. They inherited it.

While I don't doubt Fox can survive, I hope Charlie Collier drives the company straight into the ground. Subterranean. Mariana Trench. Jules Verne. He'd be doing the country a kind service.

Collier has his work cut out for him. Fox has been dumped by a number of major advertisers due to the Murdoch ties to Trump and Fox News and Fox and Friends. No flashy programming can change this tainted association while Trump remains in the White House. The only thing that can instigate change is that Fox News distances itself from Trump and moves to center. Fat chance of the happening, because it is still a cash cow as indicated by this article. Yet, Fox News can't stand alone---it is too small. What may change is the demographic as older conservative Fox News watchers taper off, and talking heads like Sean Hannity move on. It will be interesting to see what happens next.
