It is right-wing tactics 101 to raise the profile of some successful politicians to use as targets for smearing and raising the temperature of unthinking supporters. We will be hearing a lot about Omar and Cortez in the next 18 months, now that Hillary is out of the picture and Pelosi has shown herself to be a more formidable opponent than expected. Omar and Cortez are articulate women, unafraid to speak out their minds and not white. The perfect combination for raising the hackles of constipated troglodytes and red meat for Trump worshipers. We can count on Republicans taking whatever snippet they can find out of context to demonize those two and make them the face of the Democratic party. I doubt the tactic will be as successful as it was with Hillary, she was under attack for decades, with Omar and Cortes the task needs to be accomplished in a year and a half.

"Some people did something" No American should ever talk about 9/11 like that, no matter the context. And the context here is that she's an anti-Semite, who has been rebuked by her own party leadership repeatedly in the few months she has been in office for anti-Semitic statements. Trump is a life-long New Yorker and is totally right to call her out, along with the socialists who support her.

How about “Wow, now I have the tallest building in lower Manhattan”, as Trump said on the very day of 9/11. Do you feel the need to call out that? Or does he get a pass because he’s a New Yorker?

Trump may fire up his base of haters but he certainly isn't making his base any larger. If the elections are anywhere near fair (minimal voter suppression and ballot stealing) Trump will not be re-elected. For the nation to move forward Trumpism and the Republican Party needs to be soundly defeated - hate may sell but how many will buy?

When you are devoid of political ideas all you have is hate and anger. A disgusting legacy that is not being ignored by us not nearing retirement.

@Jts Now, I actually think Ms. Pelosi is handling her unlearned new firebrands pretty well considering how far they still have to come.

Female, Muslim and non-white. The perfect Trump trifecta, for HATE. Period.

When are Republicans going to at long last come out and say what they don't like about Ms. Omar? I doubt they ever will, as is the case for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez as well, but I'd wager it has less to do with their politics and more to do with they simply don't look like Megan McCain.
