Nice for a change to read about someone who is really talented and puts his talent to use for the good of himself and others. Compare that with a con artist who is without any real ability, inborn or nurtured, overwhelmed with delusions of greatness, and who left a trail of failures throughout his life only to end up in the White House.

As enjoyable as this story was, I was disappointed in Mr. Rosen's depiction of the harmonica as a 'toy'. There is a long history of brilliant harmonica players in blues, jazz, classical, country, soul and other genres. Ever hear of Stevie Wonder, Sonny Boy Williamson, Jerry Portnoy, Toots Theilmans, or Charlie McCoy. Come on, Charley, pick up that harp and learn to BLOW!

It is all in the gene pool...thank goodness for his parents!

I'm not a fan of big bands or Broadway tunes, per se. I was ready to poo poo this highly educated musician as simply highly educated, with little to offer beyond the level of his tutors. But the Tetris link provided let me realize the actual scope of Mr. Rosen goes much deeper.

Brava! We need more stories like this, it demonstrates that our fellow citizens can demonstrate civility, discipline and creative play. Heartwarming story. Has the MacArthur Foundation caught wind of Mr. Rosen?

This is such a wonderful story, and he has a truly astonishing level of talent. I'm so glad to know that Mr. Rosen walks among us! I wish him a long & fabulously interesting career.

Awesome talent. A stunning example of how early exposure to music coupled with support can help the next generation bring new music into our lives. Thanks for an inspiring story about a responsible and talented musician. I bet there is some Bach in his bloodstream.
