From a Swimsuit Model to the Trump Megaphone: The Genesis of ‘Jexodus’

She was really nobody until the New York Times gave her the spotlight. Aren’t there more interesting people to write about?
Gary Valan (Oakland, CA)
I look forward to Elizabeth Pipko becoming a Fox "News" personality, just like that other big ad loud mouth without substance Tomi Lahren. Fox has this habit of picking women off of conservative sounding blogs who are loud and insistent. Ms. Lahren puts her mouth in gear before she engages her brain, if any. It is quite extraordinary to watch her in action for a few seconds. There is no there there with her. Ms. Pipko would make a nice twin for her...
I was born to be in it (I have a dream to begin it)
As our primitive religious scriptures were written, you might have moved out of a power abusive influence sphere and found elusive freedom and peace elsewhere. Today Pharaohs with back channels to Kushner, like Putin or MBS, trace their perceived enemies down anywhere to butcher them. Environmental activists or indigenous people in Brazil share a horribly poor survival prospect and have nowhere to go to find relief from their plight. We also can't escape the global warming wrath that private profit greed forces upon us through corporate malpractice, nor the serfdom to the 0.1% burdening us, in full collusion with their Republican and other friends in partly stolen offices and court seats, with debt and inflated fees and costs with an increasingly globally expansive yoke impact. Only the big buck can pull off an exodus. From getting duly taxed. Today we need resistance, insurgency, and a revolution, an evolutionary quantum leap long time in the making. Refugee exoduses are awash in our world, with neither hosts nor the refugees safe from ugly violence fall-out of the assimilation contact 'sport' of clashing cultural extremes. The phantasmagorical dog whistle of forced mass deportations, the opposite of humane and of realistic, takes head spinningly large groups for a gleeful electoral hate ride. Where probative exploration steers minds, like with Judaism's core, it can't. No exodus, but engagement and education. No (child, cultural, or big buck) separation, but inclusion.
Anokhaladka (NY)
Reminds of Monica Lewinsky in WH but not as dumb one hopes ! Trump and ‘models’ of any size end up on the front page of National Enquirer unless some one like Cohen is there to pay off. I thought only Russians plant their brilliantly trained agents.
Doug K (San Francisco)
In retrospect, perhaps we shouldn't be surprised that people for whom being the victim of terrible prejudice turn around and adopt racism and a racist party themselves, when given the chance. Human nature isn't really that surprising, but is so often terribly disappointing.
kenneth (nyc)
" I’m very O.K. with having to prove myself, and I’m excited to show people that I am very serious.” Seriously, tonight Exodus, tomorrow the CruciFOXion. And now, back to the swimsuits . . .
M Caplow (Chapel Hill)
Shocking and disappointing that 29% of Jews supported Donald Trump. Are they nuts ? "Some 79 percent of Jews voted for Democrats in last year’s midterm elections, according to exit polling data, up from the 71 percent who voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016"
Ephemerol (Northern California)
@Ms. Pipko: It may be way too late and probably already is, however the USA has a wonderful University system. Drop all of the overly done glam, go to college, and major in International affairs and American history at a PhD. level. Then we can have at least a sane and intelligent conversation, or so I would hope. In the meantime, just be silent or play the cheap and easy glamour fame game and seek out some ditzy billionaire to attach yourself to. At present you have nothing so say and we are not listening.
Maxine Kessler (Los Ageles)
I agree with David B. If you are a Jew, why are you with a party that is against Israel and supports anti-semitism in their political elected leaders. They hate Trump so much that they lie. Look around, be aware, because if they continue they will turn against the Jewish voters and continue to support these haters.
Ken Kornbluh (LA CA)
Ms. Pipko seems like a very appropriate spokesperson for this movement. She would likely make a great VP, too. I hope the president moves quickly to capitalize on her obvious strengths and expertise. She would make a welcome addition to the cabinet and I'm sure it's very knowledgeable about all things including government and politics. The trouble need more telegenic and qualified experts like her.
Jack Klompus (Del Boca Vista, FL)
"At 23, Elizabeth Pipko has branded herself on social media as a onetime figure skater, a part-time poet and a former Trump campaign aide, an Instagramista whose feed spotlights ..." And then I stopped reading.
Jack (MA)
How do you short-circuit something like this, in a post-truth environment where the shameless are immune to muckraking? Get her talking and steer the conversation off-message? As a relative newcomer she may not yet have coaching or handlers.
Jonathan (Pleasantville NY)
I think the more appropriate label for her venture is Jexit: if there’s any challenge to the Democratic ties of most American Jews, it’s not because the Democrats are oppressive foes; it’s because, like the EU for many Brits, Democrats are a diverse group of allies and being an ally requires patience. Spurning the Democrats for the party that fawns over Trump would be like Brexit: acting peevishly and against one’s long-term interests.
Bob G. (San Francisco)
As for other self-promoting new Republicans, inconvenient facts are not a problem for Ms. Pipko. Just say whatever you want to be true, and voila, it's true! But you wonder what happened to the Esquire Magazine editor who came up with the stream of made-up puffery that Pipko attended Harvard (oops, that's Harvard Extension) and was training for the Olympics (oops, she hadn't skated since age 15). Maybe said editor was just so besotted by that peachy clean skin (though wondering what a "smile full of life" looks like).
Pragmatist In CT (Westport)
Criticism of Israel, like criticism of any country, is legitimate. But one-sided criticism of Israel with the added dimension of supporting the boycott, divest and sanctioning of Israel is not. Especially not, when Israel has been fighting enemies for its entire history and when Israel has tried numerous times to make peace with the Palestinians only to be met with rejection and terror. There's a name for people who single out Israel for condemnation -- and say nothing of the actual atrocities committed in Syria, Iran, Gaza, Lebanon, et.al. They're called anti-Semites.
Carl Yaffe (Rockville, Maryland)
@Pragmatist In CT Not by people who are honest. They're called anti-Zionists, until and unless proven otherwise.
Joe Yoh (Brooklyn)
" there is no evidence that any such thing is occurring"; yet there is. ask your friends. Many of my friends and acquaintances are fed up with the intellectual dishonesty of Dems, with the mob mentality of far left radicals, with the embrace of Socialism, with Bernie's defense of Hugo Chavez' policies, and the anti-Semitic rants of certain liberals.
Scott M Connolly (Massachusetts)
Short memory? What about Norman Lear American Jewish? Really multi-party!
Erik van Dort (Palm Springs)
Maybe Mrs. Pipko can register as a foreign agent? Given recent news that Mike Pompeo believes, like Sarah Huckabee Sanders, that God appointed (annointed?) the president as a 'Savior of Jews and Israel', maybe they should all do the same. If only in the service of more clarity and transparency as to who everyone represents in our political arena.
kenneth (nyc)
Forget what she says at 23. Wait till she grows up.
Planetary Occupant (Earth)
What on earth (or not on earth) is in the Kool-Aid these people drink? Is the American Experiment gonna die because of it?

Stephen Miller and Ms. Pipko, now that is bashret.
Carl Zittrer (Pittsburgh, PA)
A better name would be Jerk-sodus. It's only a matter of time that Americans, Jewish or otherwise, will realize that Israel is no friend of the US and it is certainly NOT a democracy. It is a fundamentalist religious state like Iran and Egypt. Zionism is fine as a religious tenet, but has no place in government... especially US government.
Mark Burgh (Fort Smith, Ar)
I am life-long Jewish Democrat - but since I watched myself not being represented at the last Democratic Convention (shuffle along Bernie), I felt that perhaps my allegiance to the party of FDR, HST, JFK, and LBJ had veered too far off the course at last. Losing the plot in 1968, the left drove the last great Democrat LBJ out of office, let another not-so-great Democrat, Carter, twist in the wind, and let a mediocre one do nothing for eight years Obama. Meanwhile, a veritable rogue's gallery of the dishonest, incompetent, unconcerned and criminally unprepared among the Republican party have had their way, both locally and nationally. I could never ever bring myself to vote for Trump, but Democratic candidates from Beto to Warren leave me very cold. Thus, I will argue, that the danger isn't a Jexodus to the GOP, but a withdrawal from all politics.
Louis J (Blue Ridge Mountains)
Remember Iran ....yes, Trump makes it less secure for Israel. Jared makes it less secure for Israel....so by all means please consider that. Rhetoric does nmaot tter. Real, physical security in the long term matters.
Kate Shrewsbury (Minnesota)
Took courses at Harvard Extension in the 80s, well-taught by regular faculty, and you definitely "feel" the Harvard brand of quality. But anyone with a credit card can take any class as long as there’s room.
Allen (Brooklyn)
["...a major party believes it has a lock on the Jews...."] The Democrats do not have a lock on Jews. Jews overwhelmingly vote for Democrats because the platform of the Democrats mirrors the Jewish concept of Tikkun Olam, repairing the world. If the Republican want to attract Jews, they can change their platform.
FNL (Philadelphia)
While the article predictably mocks the holders of conservative viewpoints, the NYT has deigned to print an allegation which readers of all political persuasions cannot fail to observe; that it has sadly (and boringly) devolved into a tabloid dedicated to incessant and indiscriminate vitriol against the current President. While this may or may not mean the end of Trump, it is most certainly a death knell for journalism as it once existed, and for the NYT in particular. This is what breaks my heart..
J.Sutton (San Francisco)
This is a disgusting insult to all Jewish people.
kenneth (nyc)
@J.Sutton yes, indeed. and to all swimsuit models.
Lane (Riverbank ca)
In Obama's term the Democrat party threw blue collar folks under the bus. Jews being 2% or so of voters can expect the same if hard left Democrats prevail. Republicans disagree politically with leftist Jews often but when it comes to Israel the vast majority Republicans support and would come to to their aid unconditionally if need be.
Alan MacDonald (Wells, Maine)
As Jews should understand better than anyone, Moses led ‘his people”, out of the Egyptian EMPIRE. This inane and attempted propagandist deceit in intentionally distractive and ‘dividing’ tropeish/memeish misuse of any clear-speaking, is not “Jexodus”, but is an example of faux-Emperor Trumpius leading ‘we the people’ precisely into EMPIRE! One need only read Charles Maier’s earlier “Among Empires”, his recent “Once Within Borders”, and any other serious works on global Empire to realize 2020 being our choice between global democracy or global Empire. Maier writes: “But frontiers control the entry and sometimes exit of residents or travelers, of goods, of money, and even occasionally, though less successfully, of ideas. People tend to divide over whether they should be made more absolute or more porous. Robert Frost thought that “something there is that doesn’t love a wall,” but the farmer next door stubbornly believed that “good fences make good neighbors.” The tendencies we lump together under the idea of globalization suggest that the attributes of territory are changing rapidly. Over the last quarter century, globalization has impinged on the public imagination ... What has weakened is precisely a traditional sense of territory. The political rights that came with territory included determination of who belonged and who was foreign, how wealth would be generated and distributed“
Lynda (Gulfport, FL)
If the Republican party is so committed to attracting the votes (and support) of American Jews, why are there only two Jewish Republicans in Congress? How does the Republican party tolerate Rep King in Iowa and attract Jewish voters?
Richard (Michigan)
Patience, Grasshopper. This, too, shall pass.

@Richard You said that about my kidney stone, too. You were wrong.

“While Ms. Pipko is the public face of Jexodus, the idea originated with Jeff Ballabon, an adviser to the 2016 Trump campaign” Very foolish to be taken in by these misguided individuals. The donald only cares about himself and his defective narcissistic ego and does what is politically expedient. He would sell out Israel and the Jews in a heartbeat if he saw political advantage in it. Netanyahu is corrupt as well. Democrats are not perfect but at least they allow an open dialogue and honest debate. The Middle East is complex. Trumpy doesn’t even know what countries belong to NATO and likes to cozy up to dictators. Do you really trust him? I certainly don’t.
Elizabeth (Athens, Ga.)
Anyone else think that Ms. Pipko may be vying to be the next Mrs. Trump? Can't see what she has to offer besides her looks, her youth and her body. Typical Trump who has nothing of substance to offer so is resorting to his fav: T&A. Are we to believe that any self-respecting Jew would actually join her parade?
kenneth (nyc)
@Elizabeth "Can't see what she has to offer besides her looks, her youth and her body. " Do you really think he'd be looking for a PhD in neurobiology?
Anokhaladka (NY)
@ Elizabeth May be Stephen Miller needed a companion in the WH to make him look better ? She could be also been planted there just like Monica Lewinsky (the so called poor victim )whose very personal garment was conveniently locked by her in a Safe Deposit Box for the right moment by those who used her. Every one knows why this talented model is in WH!
David Macauley (Philadelphia)
What a shill and self-promoter. A selfish person for the Selfie Presidency. Narcissism is the new epidemic.
Armando (Chicago)
Another evidence that Trump is true to himself. He knows that even among Jews there are gullible people. So why not to give a try by using a young Jewish model as bait? I wonder what Ms. Pepko knows about Jews leaving Egypt or her feelings about death camps like Treblinka or the anti-Semitism hatred inside the mind of a white supremacist.
J (Denver)
This just proves that there is a career in espousing radicalism. If you hate Trump, you're a dime-a-dozen... no career opportunities in that... but if you love Trump, here's a time slot on Fox News and a profile on the New York Times.
JDStebley (Portola CA/Nyiregyhaza)
Republican support for Israel cuts two ways. The Evangelical right supports Israel in order for it to complete its role prophesied in Revelations: the grand finale end of days. It's a Christian belief that the Christ-killing Jews will be subsumed like the rest of the damned in the Second Coming. The cynical political right supports Israel as the front line (indifferent to Israeli lives however) against the threat of radical Islam (a threat that actually grows with each settlement and the recognition of the appropriation of the Golan Heights). The US, as well as Israel's neighbors, knows that Israel possesses the bomb. Trump, who had no interest in Jews, Judaism or Israel before his daughter's marriage (outside of ripping off Jewish businessmen), would likely endorse any Israeli uses of force in US interests. Not that I don't fervently believe in Israel's right to defend itself - but we are fast approaching a dangerous moment in which Israel is green-lighted for something more egregious than bombing Palestinians. And Israeli and American Jews, must be clear that Trumpism and Republicans are not pro-Israel; they are pro-vested interests. Omar and Co. have their opinions, can vote their conscience as has always been the case in America. They are not the problem.
nancyA (boston)
As a Jewish person all I can say is if this is the person you are looking to when figuring out how to ally yourself politically then maybe you *are* a Trump voter.
Rick (StL)
Jexodus. There is no archaeological evidence that Jewish people were ever in Egypt, per Dr. Israel Finkelstein. He is the Jacob M. Alkow Professor of the Archaeology of Israel in the Bronze and Iron Ages at Tel Aviv University.
mn (ny)
"But when President Trump latched onto Ms. Pipko’s concept of a “Jexodus” — a fledging, and some would say crass, effort by Republicans to woo Jews away from the Democratic Party" - second sentence; could someone proofread this please?
kenneth (nyc)
I love that lead-sentence description: a onetime, a part-time, and a former. Now there's someone we would all want to follow !
Vee.eh.en (Salt Lake City)
The only "one-time, part-time, and former" thing a 23-year old can be is a child.
Justin (Seattle)
"Her skin was luscious, peachy clean. Her eyes a chocolate brown. Her smile full of life. The envy of her town" E. Pipko This is obviously much deeper than it appears on the surface. Note the use of the past tense, "was." Is she gone? Has she died? Note also the use of food metaphors: luscious, peachy, chocolate. Was she eaten? Was she consumed by modern society? "Her smile full of life" again has a reference to the past tense. She is no longer 'full of life.' "The envy of her town" Were they envious of her smile, her luscious peachy skin, or her chocolate eyes? Were they envious because someone else got to eat them? I think its a cautionary tale about how society consumes the young and beautiful. Of course, I could be reading too much into it.
OldMoldy (Maryland)
We've heard of Jews for Jesus before and this sounds like just another scam. Our heritage is our cultural value not politics.!
m.carter (Placitas, NM)
More madness.
mmmlk (italy)
I don't know why the NY times is wasting time and space on a 23 year old ex-model, a social climber who got chumy with Trump saying she would get the Jews into the Republican party. Most Jews are part of the Democrtic party for a reasonThe Democratic party stood for ( and most of it's adherents still stand for) policies that Trump and his side kick McConnell don't even want to discuss. The fact that the Democratic party hasn't at this moment a decent candidate is not important. Let's say that Ms Elizabeth has found a new job and when this falls in she'll think of something else to do. She seems to be very inventive about her capabiliities.
dbb (usa)
@mmmlk He responds to models and Hope lookalikes. Sum of his interest.
Upstate Dave (Albany, NY)
I left the Republican Party because i could not stand to be affiliated with a party that would support the likes of Donald Trump. I was hoping that when he was done I could go back. It isn't looking good. Elizabeth, if you want to be taken seriously, do your homework before you open your mouth. Trump and his family do more to support Saudi Arabia (and, thereby, the antisemitic terrorists that the Saudis fund) than any President we have ever had.
E.B. (Brooklyn)
GOP can have those who want to abandon the ideals and values of this nation, to support a treasonous president whose foreign policy is for sale to the highest bidder, who actively encourages racist and anti-semitic elements in the U.S., to support a right-wing government in Israel which daily abandons the principles of its faith. Good riddance.
Steve (Moraga ca)
If American Jews are persuaded by Pipko, a prettier face than that of Donald Trump, they would betray our reputation for intelligence (sorry for the racial profiling). Indeed, Trump's rant that the Democratic Party is anti-Israel is wrong. American Jews I know are opposed to Netanyahu and his alliance with far-right factions within Israel, not to Israel, which we view as a Jewish state with the right to exist in peace. But when Trump ratchets his rant up to "the Democratic Party is anti-Jewish" anyone has to see Trump the Demagogue at work.
kenneth (nyc)
@Steve "Trump Ratchets" I love the headline !
Ken Birman (Ithaca)
I’m Jewish, and as Passover approaches, can’t resist pointing out that the actual Exodus was a caravan of Jews fleeing oppression in Egypt. It was the first of many: we fled fled Israel, Spain, Russia, Poland, Germany... an unending history of caravans. Helping hands saved the Jewish people again and again, and each year at Passover we remind ourselves that we too were once strangers fleeing oppression and facing the challenge of building a new life in a strange land. This is why we welcome a stranger to the Passover Seder table. If the Republicans want to reach out to Jews, my advice would be to pivot from a story of fearing refugees to one of siding with the weak and welcoming the oppressed!

I will never change my affilitation. I am a loyal Democrat and a Capitalist! I fear that my party is going to be in trouble if they keep supporting AOC and her extreme ideas. She does not represent me and I take exception to her behaving as if she is the savior of the world. We need to be loyal to Democratic philosophies and policies and not accept the unrealistic rants of Bernie Sanders and AOC, let alone the anti -semitic rhetoric of this new Rep whose most important first step in her new job was to defame Jews. Nancy, you have got to put a break on this kind of behavior or Mr. Trump will win again (God forbid!!).
Edward (Wichita, KS)
"We left Egypt, and now we're leaving the Democratic Party" Really? What a shallow, offensive and imbecilic comparison. Another ridiculous wedge issue.
Michael c (Brooklyn)
Just remember: Some very fine people chanted "the Jews will not replace us". Not one of them was a Democrat. When those same fine people smash Ms. Pipko's windows, she might become a Jemocrat and maybe fess up to being a Jiar.
FGA (Philadelphia)
The fact that you write about people who don't matter results in those people mattering. Those who self-promote today depend on the legitimate media to pick up their stories, "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing" and make those stories significant. Just stop!
BB (Greeley, Colorado)
You got to be kidding, it is an absolute insult to think that jews really think Elizabeth Pipko can convince them to change from a democrat to a republican. Watching her pictures might make trump stay up all night and tweet and retweet his base to believe he is the second coming and ask them not to abandon him, but smart, and intelligent people are another story.
Boris (North Carolina)
Even if my life depended on it I would Never be a republican. Period.

David Q. (Maryland, US)
We all need to work against anti-semitism regardless of political persuasion (R, D, and others). We should all recognize it as pernicious, deadly, and terrible. Within that scope, because of a lack of a peace process and due to calcified facts on the ground it is healthy to reinforce and revisit bright lines that separate anti-semitism from acceptable discourse regarding the thorny issues about Israel, Israelis, and Palestinians. This is a problem in so far as it is necessary to distinguish strong disagreement and upset with the political state from actual anti-semitism. To try and conflate the two rhetorically is to court political fusing of disparate feelings, which should be assiduously avoided. Accusations of lapsing into anti-semitic rhetoric should be clearly demarcated from accusations of anti-semitic feeling. Ideally, politicians would acknowledge the moral fraughtness and corporeal peril for both Jewish Israelis, Jewish diaspora, Palestinian Israelis on either side of controlled internal borders, and Palestinian diaspora. Each of us may separately judge one side as being more righteous than the other, but to dismiss the arguments and complaints on either side as inconsequential or disingenuous is to do harm. As for any "Jexodus," at most it is a parochial concern of domestic US politics. We play some small part in Israeli affairs but control almost none of the logic of its politics.
kenneth (nyc)
@David Q. Thanks. I'm glad you finally got back to the story by the last, short paragraph of your sermon.
NGmom (Colorado)
I think the fact that she's a swimsuit model with zero credibility is about all you need to know. And if she's going to Aipac and appearing on fox and friends then isn't she preaching to the choir? I don't think nuanced discussion about complex foreign policy is equivalent to instagram hashtags and likes or dislikes which is about the extent for her 'experience.' I'm sort of wondering why she was featured at all.
Benjamin (Kauai)
What she's doing makes perfect sense. The Republican Party has become the party of white supremacy. It has one fundamental goal -- maintain white political supremacy. Israel is a nation that has recently amended it's de facto constitution to make explicit what has been implicit all along -- that the state belongs "exclusively" to the Jews. What the Trumpers yearn for is the day the U.S. will amend our Constitution to proclaim our nation to be a white Christian state, homeland for the white Christians. Israel's demonization of the Palestinians is no different than Trump's ugly stereotypes about refugees coming over our southern border, and the Muslim religion. The party polarization around our pro-Israel policy is the best thing that has happened since the occupation began a half century ago. The Democratic Party cannot support freedom, justice and equality for America's immigrants, Muslims and other minorities, and oppose the Palestinian demand for those same liberties.
Pragmatist In CT (Westport)
To progressive Jews who are so quick to criticize Israel, but be first to come to the defense of LGBTQ, immigration, BLM, and everyone else -- shame on you. Not shame for defending those who need defense, but shame on turning your back on your own people. Progressivism has become your new religion. For supporters of BDS, where is your criticism of the horrific Palestinian leadership who never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity to make peace with Israel. Indeed, they continue to reject Israel's very right to exist. Want to know what this one-sided criticism is called? Anti-Semitism.
biglefty (fl)
Because Netanyahu is such a peace maker?
kenneth (nyc)
@Pragmatist In CT Just what do you have against the Brooklyn Defender Services ? Each year, they represent 35,000 people who otherwise might have no representation at all because they have no money at all. But in Westport you might not know about people like that.
David (Seattle)
This is what fake news looks like. A campaign official, a reality show-type personality and Fox News. Lots of hubbub. Fun fact. The first wave of Jewish immigrants — 1870s and 1880s were educated Germans who voted Republican. Not so much since then. When one thinks of Exodus, what role would Donald Trump play? Easy. Pharaoh in a gold palace. Exodus is all about freedom and empathy for refugees.

Tjapanangka (New York)
Why does anyone think Jewish people should be a monolithic bloc? This self-promoting fraud is perfect for the Republican party -- which has proved itself very comfortable with anti-Semitism here in the US. And disgusting Trump.
Henry Nelkin (Merrick, NY)
I was offended when I heard about this “movement “ on Fox, and I’m offended now. Let me get this straight: As a Jew I’m supposed to change my allegiance to a party who has a leader who finds moral equivalence in people who are Nazis, with people who protest against Nazis? REALLY???
-APR (Palo Alto, California)
What a phony self-promoter! Her instagram account is full of semi-nude photos. Nice Jewish girls do not do soft porn. If 79% of Jews voted democratic in the midterms, does that imply 21% voted Republican? That is much less than the 35-40% who "support" Trump. With Trump moving the US Embassy, approving the annexation of the Golan Heights and delegating the peace negotiations to Jared Kushner, there is no path to peace in the Middle East.
kenneth (nyc)
@-APR Actually, he never promised peace in the Middle East...only in the vicinity of Trump hotels in the Middle East.
opinionsareus0 (California)
Elizabeth Pipko is little more than another no-talent, Instagram wannabe. Aside from exposing most of her body without clothing for millions to see; publishing poetry that most 8th graders would be embarrassed to claim as their own; and, faking just about everything else in her "resume", where's the beef? Given her obvious lack of talent, the trashy persona she projects into her Instagram feed sets her up as a kind of perfect "apprentice" to inherit Private Bone Spurs' consideration as "wifey #4" following months after Melania dumps Pvt. Bone Spurs. This is a woman who is obviously "going places" that most sane persons would run away from.

Let's imagine the 2020 Republican convention where the Jews for Trump section of the hall is between the white nationalists saluting Herr Trump, and on the other side are the white christian fundamentalists praying for war and the destruction of Israel so they can be raptured into heaven with their version of white jesus. Sound like a good plan? If so, join the Jexodus!
Victorious Yankee (The Superior North)
Hitler slaughtered more than 6 million of your people Mrs. Pipka. Your president keeps Hitler's speeches on his bedside table, he defends murderous nazis and has made so many anti-Semitic comments they are not easily counted...and you support him. We know you're only 23 and that means you'll be haunted by this decision for the rest of your life. Hope its just as fun when the bloom falls from your rose and you are ostracized by both sides. The Internet NEVER Forgets Lizzy...have fun.

David B (New York)
An article replete with derision and willful disregard for the reality that the Democratic Party is bleeding support from Gen X and Baby Boomer Jewish voters owing to its leadership’s weak-kneed and Corbynite embrace of Omar. It is interesting the writer mocks the resume of Ms Pipko (wasn’t AOC a barkeep two years ago?) and the derivative lameness of her pet project’s name (‘Green New Deal’ isn’t dissimilar in that regard). As to whether a Jexodus is in fact occurring, I can tell you only this: I was a consistent down the line Democrat voter and donor until Omar came along. After her latest disgusting comments (and before I heard of Jexodus), I de-registered from the Democratic Party, unsubscribed from my Kamala campaign emails and gave my first ever donation to AIPAC. I don’t believe I’m the only Gen X Jewish person to have disavowed the Democrats forever over their anti-Israel progression. And if you’re giving a ‘whatever’ shrug at that news, go ask Al Gore what a few thousand Jewish votes cost him in Palm Beach.
MidwestGuy (Kansas)
@David B If that's all it took you weren't much of a Democrat. Omar's ignorance is small scale compared to what Trump and the Republicans will deliver you. I think your outrage has caused you to be a lot short sighted.
E.B. (Brooklyn)
@David B A times pick of created whole cloth! If your only issue is undying support of Israel, maybe you ought to relocate. We here live in a pluralistic society where debate is honored, not punished. And your proof of today's point is to reference a 19 year old election where the loss was due to mismanaged county voter ballots, and a right-wing dominated Supreme Court? You think Jews in Palm Beach purposely voted for Pat Buchanan? When Trump's base comes around to march you off, you can keep hanging your hat on support for Israel, which by the way, is based on a Republican evangelical fever dream about the end days (and the annihilation of the Jews.) Yeah, you just left the Democratic Party.
Michael (New York)
@David B My whatever shrug is for your sad ignorance. Have you not heard and seen Trump's anti-semitism and call for violence that will inevitably target Jews. Have you seen any GOP members of Congress say a word about Trump's ignorance of the intense issues in the middle east - Golan Heights in a tweet??? To even suggest Democrats are not pro-Israel and join forces with this nations most racist and white nationalist members is not going to end well for the Jews - Trump on Charlottesville. If you need more examples turn off Fox News and tune in reality on another channel.
Bucketomeat (The Zone)
Ah, the internet can make anybody a star. Such shallow people.
sfdphd (San Francisco)
I'm Jewish and support Jews in general, but I am generally against what the current Israeli government does. Don't be fooled by Trump's lies. Think of it this way: you can be against Trump and the Republicans but for the American people. Being against Trump doesn't mean you're anti-American....

Great idea, rush head long into joining the party who thought there were good people on both sides in Charlottesville. Never mind that the MAGA sympathetic marchers chanted "Jews will not replace us." Jexodus? It's more like Jexreck. Pandering support to the corrupt right wingers in Israel should not Trump basic religious, minority and human rights here. It's quite clear that a Harvard degree didn't confer much smarts on this one, or her political soul mate, Jared.

@BeeRock Those pics are almost as good as the pictures of the hot chicks on the NRA website and youtube channel.

Shame on NYT for legitimizing this distraction by reporting on it. They and other news outlets succumb to the endless shout of the carnival barker selling his snake oil. In the meantime, at the very peak of an economic cycle, we are setting records for budget deficits. This because of a truly evil plan by the GOP to destroy the government by bankrupting it. This can happen because people are lazy idiots, preferring to be Tweeted, titillated, and Trumped because it is so much easier than thinking. While NYT cannot itself change this, at least it should not aid and abet the distractors.
Dan (Laguna Hills)
Hm. Slightly reminiscent of a young Melania. Anyone care to wager where this is going? All the "intellectual" creds are in place. OY WEH.
Geoff Last (Calagry, Canada)
Why would any demographic that is marginalized by the Republican party - which is basically everyone but old rich white guys - would want to belong to their cabal of hatred is one of life's great mysteries
RAC (auburn me)
Is there no end to it? At one time a dolt like this would have been laughed out of her college dorm. Now her inanities can be spread far and wide. She should meet some of the kids from IfNotNow who are educating their peers about so-called Birthright Israel.
Malcolm (Santa fe)
So she’s young, good looking and Jewish. But she is choosing a emotionally unhealthy, angry, hate filled, misogynist as her political leader? A man who happily cages children at our border? A man who proudly talked of grabbing a woman by her privates? Well I want no part of that religion. The hate she embraces is the same hate of anti-semites. Good luck with that.

Brian Brennan (philly)
They might get a few converts, unfortunately. The far left is doing a great disservice to the Democratic party by siding with the Palestinians just because they are percieved the underdogs in the fight, and completely ignoring the historical context and what is actually in the best interest of America. Even Obama also misunderstood much of the situation. Corey Booker put it well when he said he opposes the boucotting of Israel like many left people are calling for. It makes no sense unless you are also calling for the boycotting of China and pretty much every other foreign country that does aggressive actions against minority statues people (oh hey that includes America too!)
Robert M. Koretsky (Portland, OR)
Here’s a prime example of what identity politics achieves to divide America rather than unite it for the common good. Religion and ethnicity are the opioids of the people, the sooner they are relegated to the museum of the past, the sooner progress towards an equalitarian future will be accomplished. Fractional tribalism is the earmark of the regressive politics of the right, which will bring us back to no votes for women, reintroduction of slavery, on and on. Think back to pre-1776. NYT, keep helping to drive wedges between us.
Metrowest Mom (Massachusetts)
Don't paint all Jews with one wide brush! Years ago, many Jewish voters were committed Democrats, while today, many are Independents by choice. Choosing a candidate to support, many voters of any religious affiliation - or of none at all - opt for candidates who make moral choices and take moral stands similar to their own. Many are aghast at much of what many Republicans stand for today. Many are horrified at their total lack of response (call it sycophantic stoicism if you like) to the nastiness pouring, non-stop, from Trump's mouth (and the mouths of his toadies). Ironic, that the white nationalist, racist, xenophobic language riding the airwaves right now contrasts a line repeated many times in the Bible: "be kind to the stranger in your midst, for you were once strangers in a strange land." Perhaps the Passover story that Jewish people are commanded to tell will inspire and awaken those who need to hear it - again.
Rene (Vermont USa)
@Metrowest Mom Amen to that couldn't agree more!
Dontbelieveit (NJ)
I logged in to write something to express my feelings and it's costing, costing a lot. Somehow feel speechless. Till when are going to continue reading and ... writing about American Latinos, Jews, Muslims, Italians, white, black, brown, anothe colour, and then ... magically, when convenient refer to: The Wonderful Melting Pot Nation. All this mixed up with white supremacists screaming against those who will not replace them, or Muslims using the bully pulpit to off the blue attack hypnotizer Benjamin's. Is anybody really noticing what's slowly and gradually happening and worse: where we are heading to? Of course that the stew in the pot didn't completely melt and that all this refuse was always present, but somewhat under the boiling foam on the surface. The Derelict is mastering the dismemberment of our society fostering its rapid polarization. Still, I don't recognize the USA anymore.
Ran (NYC)
The name of this “movement “ is a clumsy play on the word Exodus, which commemorates in Jewish history the escape of the Hebrew slaves from Egypt and later the ship by that name that carried Jewish refugees who escaped the Second World War. Judging by Trump’s ideas of how to treat refugees or freedom seekers, he would have not sided with the Jews in either of those historical events.
Jeff Levine (Baltimore, MD)
As Passover approaches, the warning about worshiping "false idols" like the "Jexodus" trope seems ironically appropriate. That the "People of the Book" tend to ally themselves with Democrats is not surprising. It's the party consistently on the side of civil rights, human rights and religious tolerance--values that Jews have traditionally embraced. While some progressives have unfortunately strayed from these core principles, a "Jexodus" to the Republican Party is a misguided journey into a moral and political wilderness. Instead of the Promised Land, only a modern day pharaoh and his minions on the right wait at the end of the road.
Marvant Duhon (Bloomington Indiana)
The Trump/Pipko version of Jexodus is of course all lies, but as the article mentions in passing there IS a real Jexodus. Jews, who were not there in great numbers anyway, are leaving the Republican Party. In 2012 69% of Jews voted Democratic, in 2016 71%, in 2018 79%. If Jexodus continues at this rate, it will be well over 80% in 2020.

Why devote so many column inches to a thing that isn't a thing?
RealTRUTH (AR)
This is all PR and prejudiced propaganda - Hollywood casting. Trump is a moron, we know that, but he is TV-savvy and picks certain types of faces (like all those blond talking-head puppets on Fox) to appeal to the baser, non-intellectual instincts of his targets. This is just another case of casting couch politics. I would also not be surprised if other aspects of the casting couch were involved based upon Trump's history of sex abuse and philandering. He does spend a huge amount of time away from Melania, probably at her demand. I do not think that a 23-year-old is experienced enough to form any intellectual position; it's her face that is being used as a ploy against stupid, pandering people.
Dan Steely (New York, NY)
@RealTRUTH Wholeheartedly agree. Ms Pipko is a pimple on the butt of an elephant in terms of relevance.
Jessica (New York)
My mother would stop speaking to me and my father would roll in his grave if I ever voted for a Republican. I was raised to believe that Jews would always support the oppressed and especialy those fleeinng from persecution. The idea of supporting people that tear babies from their mothers fleeing death should be anathema to any Jew. People like Ms. Pipko have zero undersanding of Jewish history.

How exactly does this qualify as a tax-exempt “social welfare” organization? I know, the same way the NRA does. The IRS really needs to evaluate these political action groups better.
Doug (VT)
It makes sense that this political myth is associated with the ancient myth of an Exodus from Egypt, which never happened according to virtually all non-religious scholarly and archaeological research. It just didn't happen. Sorry folks, the Jews were just some group of Canaanites who made up a myth to tell a story of the origin for their culture and religion. Kind of like Romulus and Remus. A fairy tale really. No burning bush, no wandering in the desert. No first Passover. In a way, it's kind of a terrible story- God going around and killing a bunch of little Egyptian children. Yahweh sure seems bloodthirsty in the Old Testament. It is so ludicrous to me that some phony compact between God and a group of people forms the basis for so much of the violence and discord in this little strip of land in the Middle East.
Bob (Pennsylvania)
Such unalloyed and offensive twaddle on her and their part. Her PR firm must be first tier - after all, this nonentity is now on the front page of the Times website with pictures, and is being discussed by many people! An amazing feat of PR. Other than being attractive, her opinions are as valid and important as are ours. The only difference, however, is that now she's a hot shot for the merest of instances. Yecch and Oy! Disclaimer: I am proudly Jewish.
jrsherrard (seattle)
One of the blood libels promoted in 'The Protocols of the Elders of Zion' was the notion that Jewish citizens are incapable of loyalty to the countries in which they live because of their covert allegiance to Jewry/Israel. Is there truly no sense of irony here that Republicans and Trump - and a former swimsuit model - are calling upon Jewish Americans to become single issue voters and fulfill that calumny? Seems highly unlikely.
St. Thomas (NY)
I find the best thing to do for someone like this is to ignore her or poke fun at the whole gestalt. Forget them better still. She lives in a virtual world. The more we troll these idiots the more important they become just like "nationalists" like Gorka and Bannion are doing overseas. This doesn't mean we don't look at what they tweet or monitor their appearances at events. The worst thing that 45 cohort want is to be ignored. There will always be antisemites. It is important to get rid of their leaders and to point out the contradictions they so proudly display against values of the United States and what our forebearers fought against.
Liz Liz (New Mexico)
Her family should disown her.
J S (Fremont, CA)
I would leave the Democratic Party only if forced out. If the leftists take over, with their antisemitic tropes, if Omar becomes the face of the party, then I will have to look elsewhere. So far, that is not the case. The Democratic Party has proved itself with the strong pushback against hatred. When I look at the Republicans, I see a tremendous amount of hatred and antisemitism that makes Omar look like the Democratic minority she is. If the Democratic Party becomes unsafe for Jews, all of America will be unsafe for Jews. Then I'm moving.
Victorious Yankee (The Superior North)
Ya' gotta' hand it to her, she knows that most young men think, not with their brains but, with the other thing. Thankfully even young Jewish people are more mature than ted nugent's base of book burners.
Neo York (Brooklyn)
Why not leave Judaism too, while you're at it?
Matt586 (New York)
American Jews are too smart to fall for this Republican spin. But I must admit that it is interesting to watch Fox News sell to the white nationalists that Israel "is our friend".
Pete (California)
It is ridiculous to think that Jews in America and those who sympathize with them would support the favorite political party of the neo-Nazi alt right because they refuse to grapple with the moral contradictions of Israeli treatment of Palestinians. Some more fanatical supporters of Israel, right or wrong, have done so, but not the vast majority of thoughtful people.

For sure, there are anti-semites on both sides of the aisle, and there are racists on both sides of the aisle. Inasmuch as Donald Trump is a liar, a fraud, a con, a dirtbag, and, quite possibly a traitor as well - and inasmuch as the GOP does absolutely nothing to standup to Trump - there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that I would move to the Republican camp. For anyone to think that Jews who feel the same way as I do about Liar Trump will move to Republican camp is flat out RIDICULOUS!
Morris (Bay Area)
So, Jews should abandon the Democratic Party in favor of a party held together by Neo-Nazis and biblical end-timers? Makes perfect sense. Not.
sfdphd (San Francisco)
This 23 year old person is pathetic. She's trying to get attention by jumping on the Trump train, but she's too immature to realize that the train is going over the cliff.... Everyone I know who is Jewish is disgusted with the Republican party and wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Ms. Pipko is clueless...
Dawn (New Orleans)
I'm not sure why the NYTs is even giving this GOP troll the time of day. It only reinforces or amplifies her message. She is ridiculous and those she is trying to reach will see right through he empty talking points.
El Lucho (PGH)
Congratulations Pipko, self described as that of the luscious skin! Fairly soon you will be able to boast of Trump pointing to you as "Look at my Jew over here". "Donald Trump points to black person in crowd: 'Look at my African American over here'" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37-M_AzPxmM
The King (Waco)
Note to Young Elizabeth: Jews are reluctant to support a political party that draws its strength from white supremacists and neo-Nazis. In addition, Young Elizabeth, look into why evangelicals, who overwhelmingly vote Republicans, so eagerly support Israel.
Bulldog (Spokane WA)
Jexodus? That's so Trumptopheles! (adjective:sinister and false; borrowed from Mephistopheles, a demon of Lucifer and lover of lies)
Alanna (Vancouver)
I'm surprised that Trump is risking opposition from his racist, anti-Semitic base. He is trying to cover up whatever back-room deals he's made with the Israeli Prime Minister with the excuse that he's trying to win the Jewish vote. Smearing one of the oldest religions in the world with trite social media posts and ugly politics will not fool the American Jewish community.
Marko Polo (Paris)
I remember some of those very fine people in Charlottesville chanting "Jews will not replace us". When Individual-1 forcefully condemns these cretins and expels them from his view and rhetoric, then perhaps a Jewish person can consider joining the Republican party or rather the Party of Trump.
R (New York)
Where to begin? First, this is not new. Republicans have been trying to appeal to Jews based on Israel for a long time. There was a very public concerted effort in 2012, but it's something that they always do. Second, why is the NYT giving this "movement" this level of attention and promotion? There is a facetious tone throughout the article as to how much of a joke the organizers of this are and how little actual support it has. Well, guess what--joke's on you, NYT, because you published this article and gave these people more exposure than they deserve or could ever dream of in a legitimate news source! Third, other than Gorka, there is no mention in the article of the ties that Trump and the GOP have to white nationalists--literally neo-Nazis and the KKK--and how that's a big reason that Jews are not leaving the Democratic party. Someone who isn't well informed who comes to this in the naive hope that maybe they would learn something from this article hears the "Jexodus" side of the argument (Tlaib and Omar anti-semitism) and nothing substantive on the other side (most other anti-semitism in the U.S.). Have you done a good job informing that person? Finally, how about more investigation of why Jexodus has been allowed to register as a social welfare organization? This is a loophole used often by Super PACs, but rarely is it this blatant--there isn't even a pretext for anything other than partisanship, as their sole mission is to convince people to vote GOP.
Joanne (Chicago)
Wow, is this ever disgusting! Fortunately THIS generation of Jews is not reflexively Zionistic and can see the blatant anti-Semitism flagrantly on display on the political right. Does the RNC think we missed the goose-stepping Nazis at the Trump rallies? The raving from Trump about "international bankers" on the stump? He is cut from the same cloth as Nixon and that ilk. Today's Jews are not knee-jerk supporters of Israel-right-or-wrong and find fault with the way Palestinians have been disenfranchised and oppressed. Sorry, no cigar.
LBarkan (Tempe, AZ)
I am Jewish. Next Yom Kippur, let's add Ms. Pipko's name to the list of names for whom Jews need to atone along with Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump and Alan Dershowitz. Any Jew who supports Trump and the Republican party should be ashamed. Any Jew. To support Trump and his ilk is to support racism, bigotry, misogyny, xenophobia and all the other depravities that Jews have been the victims of for centuries.
DB (NYC)
@LBarkan No, I think we need to add your name to that list..
Peter (Sherman)
Models please stick to modeling and stay out of politics. Does anyone care if this model from Syria is democrat or republican? Lightweight articles like this only make it to print because someone got a photo of this sexy, attractive women. Sexy still sells. Misogyny at its best really. Being pro-trump, perhaps she just wants to meet pres and Melania, the model 1st lady. Or maybe she just wants to get grabbed where the sun rarely shines. Yuck!
Jim V (Boulder, Colorado)
This NYT article about "Jexodus" is tantamount to CNN continuing to interview Kellyanne Conway. Please stop supplying oxygen and lending credence to lies, things that don't exist, or vapid idiocy at best !
rocmail (Connecticut)
Now the NYT is doing reporting on make believe organizations, spouting make believe trends? And featuring it on your home page? If this was actually happening (exodus), then you could be reporting as news. But this is a farce, and you're featuring it? Very disappointed in this trend!
DC (USA)
Jews can vote the hatred in their hearts, just like every other Trump voter. And just because she is young and attractive on the outside does not hide the hideousness of her dead, black soul.
Sean (of Somerville)
Hahaha, Jexodus! Not until the Republican KKKlexit! Please.
SineDie (Michigan)
Trump knows just what he is doing as he manipulates the public perception of Jews as tools of the fascist right. Listen to yourselves! Read your own comments. Why, oh why, does the NYT and its readers act as megaphones for increasingly anti-Jewish rhetoric? When I read the injunction from one commenter that Jews join with Republicans "at their peril," a chill went down my spine. We have now come to the point of another vicious canard being repeated here: that the Jews bring their troubles on themselves. This has gotten completely out of control at the Times.
J (DC)
All you need to know about Trump and anti-semitism: White Nationalist chant in Charlottesville:“Jews will not replace us” Donald Trump in response to Charlottesville: “.... we condemn bigotry on many sides”. From CNN on a Trump 2016 campaign ad: “....blatantly anti-Semitic image featuring a picture of Hillary Clinton pasted over a backdrop of $100 bills with a six-pointed star — the Jewish Star of David — alongside her face”.
ROK (Minneapolis)
Omar may be an anti-Semite - I think she is. However, the Jews of Minneapolis may not vote for Omar, we may try and get someone to challenge her for the DFL nomination but vote GOP, no. (And because of some little pischer in her underwear?)
DB (NYC)
"...And Jews take a dim view of Mr. Trump, according to a 2018 Gallup poll that found that just 26 percent of Jews approved of the president’s performance, the lowest of any major religious group" Uh huh. Remember - these are the same polls which predicted Hillary would win the 2016 election. Don't believe everything the NYT tells you....they have an agenda to fulfil.
Victorious Yankee (The Superior North)
@DB, She did scooter...by three million votes in fact. Sure your draft dodging president won the elitist electoral college vote comrade but we both know The American People wanted the adult not the adulterer. Wow...that was clever.

Israel for Jews only? USA for whites only. Don’t be foolish about the intentions of rotten to the core Trump.
JRV (MIA)

Where do they come from? And why do they get such leverage? I’m don’t want to degrade Ms. Pipko, but what about giving scientists and people of knowledge better or equal coverage?
Jilian (New York)
Just pointing out that there were no Jews at the time of the Exodus from Egypt. There were Hebrews, there were Israelites, but the term Jew did not begin applying to the ostensible descendents of the Exodus until a kingdom was established in Judaea roughly 1050 years before the Common Era.
Howard (Maryland)
Furthermore the Bible is a Jewish text. Putting a ‘J’ on the name of one of the books is redundant (and idiotic).

In Colorado for now not sure about when the election roles around. Any of these folks darken my door I will send them packing with a good lecture on aligning themselves with the forces of repression and in some cases the dark ages. No thanks and now way.
Montreal Moe (Twixt Gog and Magog)
I am a Jewish Canadian and will speak for many Jews and Gentiles when I say the Prime Minister who developed his morals and ethics at Bain Capital does not speak for me or the Christians who understand why Jesus threw the money lenders out of the Temple. The word leverage sends shivers up and down my spine as I recall Archimedes moving the world. Trump, Putin, Xi and their allies can sure make a long fulcrum.
Milton Lewis (Hamilton Ontario)
@Montreal Moe. What Prime Minister worked at Bain Capital? Mitt Romney worked there but he is not yet PM.
petey tonei (Ma)
@Montreal Moe, I think it was boston consulting where both Mitt Romney and Netanyahu worked, in the 1970s. Later, Mitt decamped to Bain capital. https://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/08/us/politics/mitt-romney-and-benjamin-netanyahu-are-old-friends.html

"Red Sea Rising" is a violent metaphor, it’s not an image of liberation. As the sea miraculously parted, the Israelites were able to cross. But the sea rose again as the Egyptians entered the clearing, and drowned them. Seem to me Jexodus is what happens when severely disoriented Jews reverse the process of Exodus — returning to Egypt — inviting all the blood and suffering that this implies.
Richard (Juneau)
I'm not 23 or a model, but have started a group based upon my cultural pet peeves. Its called "squareheadodinus". We're tired of both parties ignoring the Scandinavian diaspora in the U.S. So we are leaving both parities in droves. We have more members (10X more than) the recently invented and essentially nonexistent Jexodus and are a force to be reckoned with. look for an article in the NYT soon!!
Jacquie (Iowa)
In light of Trump's white supremacy views, it is hard to believe that 26% of Jews support Trump. "26 percent of Jews approved of the president’s performance, the lowest of any major religious group".
suzanne (new york)
This effort to woo Jews from the Democratic party has been going on for decades, and it has been an abject failure. This one will be too. The numbers don't lie, and the fact that Republicans think that secular American Jews will be impressed by words like "Jexodus" is hilarious stuff. Keep it up, Ms. Pipko. Your a source of fine comedy. As for Trump, actions like basing American policy on what is best for Netanyahu's electoral prospects will flop badly with American Jews. Republicans think they can recreate the Israeli mindset among American Jews, and they are wrong.
Stephen Holland (Nevada City)
Another Trump Era huckster has arrived. And not a moment too soon, I was getting tired of all the other two week wonders. An Instagram hottie with little in the way of a resume (she's 23, what should we expect, Alexandra Hamilton, AOC ?) I'm glad you published a snippet of her "poetry." That would shame a normal person into deleting all social media accounts and moving to a farm in northern Idaho. But, alas, given her obliviousness vis-a-vis Jewish American political matters, she will be with us for a time yet....not too much one hopes.
Viktor prizgintas (Central Valley, NY)
This is simply a other example of celebrity without content seeking a brand. Very much like trump.
Julie B (San Francisco)
Polls show Netanyahu’s most ardent supporters in the United States are evangelical Christians. Am I the only one who thinks this evangelical love of "Israel" and "Jews" is casting both as supporting actors in their theological narrative and, in addition to the gap between their ideology and reality, in that sense demeans both? And that the apocalyptic "end times" narrative that Jews will eventually convert or die is deeply anti-Semitic? And Bibi and Trump are brazenly and cynically using this support for their own ends?
petey tonei (Ma)
@Julie B, Mueller god is coming...evangelicals hold on to your seat belts...

I thought “What is this nonsense?” Then I saw the swim suit photos. Sure, I’ll join the Republican Party. Elizabeth I am your biggest fan. Please call.
I Have Major Concerns, And Questions (Pittsburgh, PA, USA)
Follow the money. Who is paying this girl, how much, and what are they asking from her in return? Just about everything about this story sounds opportunistic, either for money, fame, or both. No reasonable person who understands the big picture could conclude that Republicans have a friendlier platform for the Jewish population. Republicans are simply attempting to frame the fact that Netanyahu is being criticized for being corrupt as general criticism of Jews. The bottom line is Democrats understand and will point out corruption regardless of race, culture, religion, sexual orientation, or political leanings. Netanyahu is corrupt not because he's Jewish - he's corrupt because he's a terrible person who just happens to be Jewish. Republicans aren't even willing to point out the laughably obvious and insanely persistent corruption of our own president here in the U.S. This story is at its root about Trump and the Republican party using Fox News as its propaganda arm to divide the American public on another controversy line to gain votes in the 2020 general election. It's no different than Trump saying he wants to eliminate HIV in America. Of course he doesn't care about that. He's trying to gain a few black and LGBTQ votes. Similarly, support for a 2-state solution that includes saving Palestinians from oppression is not anti-Semitic. It's equality for all.
Bob T (Colorado)
Check out her Instagram modeling shots. Pretty decent job, especially with the faux-bondage gear. But if she wants GOP gigs she will have to master the blank-eyed gaze that tells the world a master has bagged his trophy. Call is the Melion Stare.
AF (CA)
Don't worry. People will start ignoring Elizabeth Pipko as soon as a single wrinkle appears on her face or hits 30.
Justin (Seattle)
I'm not Jewish, but I studied the Exodus story as a child. I don't remember Moses or any of his followers having swimwear. I guess he had more faith that the Lord would actually part the Red Sea. Ms. Pipko, it seems, is just being 'super-realistic.'
Allison (Sausalito, Calif)
Great, another empty headed narcissist to distract this country from the tasks of solving climate change, healthcare, inequities.
Ken (Vancouver)
Why exactly is this person garnering any attention? Any Jew who may be persuaded to vote Republican on the basis of a [insert your own description of Ms. Pipko], well, then they belong with the Republicans. Meantime, Pipko is lapping up the attention, a la Trump.
Mary Corder (Indianapolis)
I will state the obvious: young, attractive, and somehow, has become a voice of authority. Since when do 23-year-olds run the board? That's when. I doubt she knows a thing about what she's talking about. Money, money, money -- social media, social media, social media.
Jim (Virginia)
“Exploiting anti-Semitism for partisan advantage is dangerous and wrong,” Is he talking about what-her-name from Minnesota?
Pete in SA (San Antonio, TX)
All the politics aside, the Democrat Party has totally mislead, mispromised and misprovided for many of its supposed constituencies such as African Americans expecting to rise out of poverty! The Dreamers expecting legal status. The farmers, blue collars, anyone expecting realistic health care prices, etc. Not that the GOP has been any better! Get real! Politicians for the most part are not even close to solving or resolving economic, medical, educational, housing, employment, defense, or other major real issues!!!
Shadai (in the air)
The inability of Democrats to censure their new anti-Semitic congresspeople is the root cause of the exodus. Yes, some Jewish Democrats will stick their heads in the ground, but others will realize that a Party built on identity politics which cannot condemn and root out anti-Semitism from its midst, is not a Party to belong to.
Citizen (North Carolina)
All I see is another self-promoter. No wonder Trump likes her -- not to mention he'd surely rate her at least a 9 (he can't rate her a 10, her being a Jew and all...it would upset his base).
Robert Dannin (Brooklyn)
this is a disgusting and blatant exploitation of female sexuality and should be denounced as such. ms. pipko's politics notwithstanding this smells like another murdoch/fox news/bill shine operation: if blondes attract voters in flyover country, why not recruit a svelte brunette to lure those big city dwellers with "new york values"? meanwhile the times takes the bait by giving her the best portfolio tear sheet ever.
Milton Lewis (Hamilton Ontario)
Many Jewish voters are opposed to Trump for reasons that are totally unrelated to their religion. You do not have to be Jewish to be repulsed by Trump’s boorish, vulgar and insulting behavior. Who can support some one who attacks a dead military hero? Who can support some one who lies ever time he speaks? Who can support someone who maligns cultural and religious minorities? You do not have to be Jewish to be appalled by the behavior of this American embarrassment. Trump.
Andy (San Francisco)
Well, she seems to be made of all fluff and lies and unlikelihoods — a rather perfect symbol for Trump.
Robert Lebovitz (Dallas Texas)
We've seen our Quisling and now we have our Schoeps. It's the latest chapter in "How the World Turns." Rebirth of the VNJ and the DDV can't be far behind. How long will we wait before accepting the truth?
Paul’52 (New York, NY)
We are less than five years removed from an election where the only republican Jew in the House, Eric Cantor, lost a primary in part because he wasn’t “like us.” Have republicans ever denounced that?

It’s hard to believe that anyone capable of being led by this self-infatuated child isn’t already being led by the self-infatuated child in the Oval Office.
Julia K (San Francisco)
I hear this young lady saying that she is proud to be Jewish. How refreshing. I can't remember the last time a Jewish journalist expressed that sentiment in the pages of this paper.
trenton (washington, d.c.)
You've gotta hand it to Ms. Pipko, she sure knows how to promote her brand. If she were homely, she wouldn't be featured like this.
Spectre (LA)
Somehow a 23-year-old mediocre model who's inflated her resume, claiming to represent a new wave of Jewish thinking, most likely to gain more Instagram followers... somehow all this doesn't surprise me. I'm Jewish, and all my Jewish friends and family are reflective and thoughtful with strong morals. We're not going to one day abandon all that because some fake Jewish Instagram model instructs us. How dense do they expect Jewish people are? Keep in mind that there's a good chance anybody photographed on Instagram wearing the swag from this movement is likely NOT Jewish, and likely paid by this organization. This is how advertising on Instagram works.

This is a farce of over the top self promotion that only social media (and an encouraging tweet from the ogre in chief) could have possibly created and sustained. Isn't it? A few glib idiocies to catch attention, a girl's face and cutesy moniker stamped on the web site to generate eyeball click counts, lots and lots of exaggerations in her story to simulate a superficial "credibility". All part of the standard alt-right modus operandi it seems... So why pay attention? Why must attention be paid? And who exactly is paying attention? Aren't we just noting another ploy by alt-right and f-x types to play with anti-muslim sentiments that has been a consistent trope since the new congress began? Here the fantasy line being pushed out is how extremist anti-semites have taken over the democratic party, a variation in the prior indefensible and over the top distortion of a policy critique that, gasp! criticized indefensible (to all but die hard core settler movement supporters) Israel's increasing resemblance of an apartheid type state, which AIPAC refuses to acknowledge, but which the majority of American Jews do. The one vulnerability in that critique was the presence of a few wordings that mouthed historic anti-semite lunacies. So blow that up into a cause celebre, repeat and repeat, catch attention, let the nonsense propagate. Much like this contemptible "college free speech" goofiness that is as orwellian as you can possibly get.

African-Americans who want to go Republican have Candace Owens and now Jews have Ms. Pipko. And the Republicans say Democrats play identity politics?https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/magazine/wp/2019/03/06/feature/candace-owens-is-the-new-face-of-black-conservatism-but-what-does-that-really-mean/?utm_term=.20026076321b

"Exodus" was the name a of a sham gay conversion group in the 80s-90s that claimed all sorts of strange and unsubstantiated success in "converting" people from gay to straight. Humorously, and predictably, the group fell apart when its 2 male leaders publicly declared their love for each other. So the current sham group has chosen a new name that is both fitting and probably untenable, since the web domain and other naming rights likely still belong to the previous group.
EdfromLafayetteCA (LAFAYETTE)
No matter what you think of Trump: One of Trump’s greatest accomplishments “may be” on the trade equalization with China. There is a chance, if enforced properly, the trade deficit with China will be greatly reduced and the side effects may be the binding, or the interdependence, of two largest economies together. And another side effects maybe the possibility of eventual minimal military confrontations between the two countries because of the strong economic interdependence with each other. No other presidents has ever accomplished such task with China (and possibly with Europe, India, Mexico, Canada, South Korea and Japan) for the past three decades.
Kit Kat (Massachusetts)
@EdfromLafayetteCA Great. And so: racist rants anti-immigrant rants misogynistic (when not outright abusive) behavior ...and the rest of the long list of hateful things this person in the White House says, does, tweets about, on a daily basis... Is your point, in commenting about what may or may not happen with China and trade, that it will be more important in the end than all of the above? "No matter what you think of Trump..." That's dangerously myopic thinking.
Richard (Juneau)
@EdfromLafayetteCA Unfortunately it has not been reduced. We had a record trade deficit last year
Victorious Yankee (The Superior North)
@EdfromLafayetteCA, Do you mean The Record Breaking trade deficit trump created with his silly tariffs and petulance? I'll be y'all my house against your double-wide that when this trump's nightmare is over the trade deficit will be even larger than the record breaking deficit he created now. But hey, at least he built his wall, repealed The ACA and locked up Secretary Clinton right?
Postette (New York)
After what happened in Pittsburgh and New Zealand, only the fringe elements are Jexodising to Trump. And how poignant an article like this appears about someone's devotion to a modern day Haman.
LongTimeFirstTime (New York)
This is all the same trick. Point to what cannot be verified - Mexico is sending "rapists and murderers", McCain did "other bad things", Barr (Manafort and others) is a "highly respected man", and, now "Jews are leaving the Democrats" - and then insist the remedy is at hand, Trump's hand. It's not different than "these condos face a brick wall now, but when I'm done, it will be an oceanfront view". It's a con. And, remember, you can't cheat an honest man . . .
Howard Beale (LA La Looney Tunes)
This is a callow misguided young woman who's chiefly interested in building her "brand". As they say in NYC fuggettaboutit... and her AND trump. Disgraceful.
Ghost Dansing (New York)
There is no doubt Trump-ism enables opportunism. A quick way to get attention is to break from the normal and expected, and take the route of the outrageous. Perhaps wisdom will emerge with experience.

It just goes to show that not all Instagram celebrities need their parents to buy their successes for them. Some Instagram celebrities accomplish things on their own by being sexy models who say things the president likes on Fox News. The meritocracy is vindicated!
DENOTE MORDANT (CA)
Most Jews do not welcome the GOP. Not much will come of this Republican incursion.
john (Vt)
What could a former swimsuit model know? Duplicity passing for wit doesn't make a very interesting read either. There's a new generation of Jewish voters who are taking note of what promises are being fulfilled rather than circumvent the intelligence of femininity with this blatant misogynistic title.

Any nitwit with a big enough megaphone can get press? That's how we got Trump!
Fla Joe (South Florida)
Trump - "Why there is good & bad on both sides." Re: Charlottesville 2017. Trump may be pro Netanyahu, another two bit corrupt politician stoking ethnic and partisan hatred (i.e. dissing Obama), but Trump and the GOP have long way to go showing he values the American Jewish community. I think there may be ! elected Republican Jew in Congress - compare that to 30 years ago. The GOP goes backward.
Sarah (Smith)
The Democratic party is doing a great job dividing itself up. All the Republicans have to do is stand back and laugh. While Medicare for All is the most important issue for me, the safety and security of Israel is right next to it. Unfortunately, I don't see a Democratic candidate who is strong on both. I guess it will be another year of holding my nose and voting for the Democratic candidate who is the lesser of the evils.
We the People. (Port Washington, WI)
@Sarah So, you're saying that climate change, transportation, education, and reproductive rights mean nothing to you???
Victorious Yankee (The Superior North)

JRV (MIA)
@Sarah still after two years you talk about holding up your nose?

The great American poet Robert Frost wrote a great American poem etitled "Fire and Ice". The poem starts with the memorable lines: "Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice..." He says he favors "fire" but neglects to mention "hot air", a concomitant of fire. Given the raucous ignorance that displays itself daily in much of the media I think hot air will prove to suffice.

Ms. Pipko isn't just advancing her name recognition and brand. She's advancing her name recognition and brand.
Susan Girod (Paris)
“Her skin was luscious, peachy clean. Her eyes a chocolate brown. Her smile full of life. The envy of the town.” Ms. Pipko’s description of her beauteous self, in her self-published poetry book, immediately made me think of Louise Linton aka Ms. Steve Mnuchin who in her own-self published “white savior”book (about her gap year in Zambia) described herself as “a skinny white muzungu with long angel hair.” “Mirror, mirror on the wall -etc. etc
Dominic (Minneapolis)
Do we actually have to debate and discuss this as if it were serious. Are we not adults anymore? The Republican Party has no real principles beyond lowering taxes and cutting regulations. So they put all their focus and energy into gaining and holding power. I genuinely wish they were this clever about running the country.
db2 (Phila)
@Dominic We are beyond satire.
David (Maryland)
There have always been Jewish conservatives. I am not one. At least two of my grandparents were. If Ms. Pipko finds her political views line up better with the Republican Party she identify as such. I may have issues with some of the stances taken by the Democratic Party but its a much better political home for me. The values that I learned growing up match neatly with either party (its not place or time to discuss). From a Jewish perspective, the Democratic Party needs get better at recognizing antisemitism as the dangerous conspiracy theory that it is and treating it as being just as dangerous and delusional as vaccine refusal. The Republicans have the vastly harder task of recognizing the inherent worth and dignity of every person without exception.

There are no entrance requirements for Harvard Extension. Even I went there to take a writing class. No homework, no grades. Even you can go there, if you live in town.
CPMariner (Florida)
I can't speak for all progressives? Who can? Nonetheless, I suspect that Trump, McConnell and the entire GOP is trying to exploit certain policies and acts of the State of Israel with which many - perhaps even most - American Jews disagree with. The wedge they're attempting to drive is equivalence between objections to Israeli policies and anti-Semitism. I.e., if you object to the expansion of West Bank settlements, you must be anti-Semitic, or so the line goes. It might as well be said that because I oppose mass deportations without process of law, I must be a progressive. Choosing a swimsuit model Jew as the icon for an attempted political "movement" is preposterous on the face of it. Just as Trump and his minions have assumed that enough voters are stupid or willfully ignorant to support is policies and keep him in office, they assume that American Jews are sufficiently conflicted about Israel's national policies as to follow Pipko into the GOP. The only other equally hilarious (but sad) blunder I can think of was candidate McCain's campaign's choice of Sarah Palin for VP on the GOP card in 2008.
Rave (Minnesota)
She would be unknown to me in the absence of this article. Hers is a story of how the mainstream media takes up every little issue or report concocted by the Right.
SL (Philly)
Why give this silly “Jexodus” idea attention if the numbers demonstrate that its not actually happening? (I’m guessing it partly has to do with the fact that it’s coming from a swimsuit model.) This story isn’t news.
dougnsf (San Ramon, CA)
I don't always agree with Israeli policy and I don't always agree with the Democratic party, especially its far left wing. But one thing I know unequivocally: I would NEVER support Donald Trump and his now-Shanghaied Republican party of intolerance. For those of us who recall the movie "A Hard Day's Night", please think about the scene when George wanders into an advertising agency and makes fun of the agency's teen model. That's what Ms Pipko represents, a laughable caricature. She is a farce, a fiction.
Christian Burks (Austin)
Democrats can neutralize Trump’s argument by nominating Bernie Sanders as the first Jewish major party presidential nominee in American history.
LivingWithInterest (Sacramento)
The metaphor of Red Sea "Rising" is one of mounting bloodshed. The question is, whose blood? The other question, who is Red Sea Rising, Inc.? Trying to find out something about Red Sea Rising, Inc. ends up with no information, nada. For a tax exempt organization, isn't that suspicious? I'm always amazed at how clever racist groups can be when they put their minds to attempting to divide people with fear or lies. Using the Exodus story is a convenient vehicle, one held close to the hearts of Jews, but casting the Democrats in the role of the hating Egyptians should fall on deaf ears. A hollow story. The other convenient vehicle is the attractive and very young spokesperson. Is Pipko the counter agent to AOC? I predict that this group will be found out to be funded by a white supremacist base or by some set of instigators from overseas. Remember their chant: "Jews will not replace us!"
itsmecraig (sacramento, calif)
Pipko says "it’s a play on Exodus," but it's actually a play on the same rhetoric Conservatives have used towards minority communities for decades, telling them that the Democratic Party sees them only as votes (or, worse, "sheepish slaves"). Republican then argue that minorities should come to the oh-so-much more tolerant Republican Party... you know, the same party that also, woos, placates and enjoys the votes of folks like David Duke's neo-Nazi's, had a self-described white nationalist as Chief Strategist for their 2016 Presidential campaign (and of the Presidency that followed), and continues to call the war that ended slavery in America "The War Of Northern Aggression."
AJ North (The West)
It is fortunate that my three uncles who were rabbis are no longer alive to see such a disgusting — and obscene — spectacle as she.
Reva Cooper (Nyc)
Ms. Pipko doesn’t, of course mention the fact that a many evangelists support Israel because of The Rapture- their fantasy of a point when everyone becomes Christian, and Jews who don’t are destroyed. Plus a lot of younger generation Jews in the US, myself included, are troubled by Israel’s actions, especially by Netenyahu. A lot of us also think AIPAC has led to harm, and don’t think Ilan Omar’s remarks were anti- Semitic. This young con artist won’t succeed.
dc brent (chicago)
Ironically, this appeal employs an anti-semitic trope -- Jews care only about Israel, and that no other issue concerns them, including the welfare of their fellow non-Jewish citizens. Therefore, they should join the Republican Party, which is giving Israel everything it wants.
Mat (Come)
We will never vote for the party of the Pittsburgh shooter and the Charlottesville chanters And David Duke and the KKK and Henry Ford etc etc. It’s not that hard to understand.
Dan (Culver City, CA)
I'm sure she'll be a big hit with Trump supporters. With everybody else? Not so much.
RLW (Chicago)
I was born to a Jewish mother, so by Judaism's definition I am a Jew. But I consider myself a non-denominational Agnostic. I think that all religions are evil and have done more harm throughout the centuries than good. But because of my birth to a Jewish woman the world considers me a Jew and if I had been born in Nazi occupied Europe I likely would not be writing this today. But here I am and I denounce any association with the current Republican Party. I think Donald Trump and his supporters in the Congress are evil, self-serving politicians who care less about humanity than their own self-interests. I have voted for Republican candidates for public office in the past, but I can no longer support anyone who is affiliated with the current Republican Party. I supported the original founding of the state of Israel and admired those early Zionists who led the country in the early decades after the Founding of the Zionist state. I held Israeli savings bonds in the 50s. But after the ignorant religious right from the European ghettos started to control the Israeli government I began to see just another theocracy like Iran. I know many people of Jewish origin like myself, none of whom is rushing to support Republicans, Trump, or the Netanyahu. Jexodus is a petard that will burst along with those who support it
Matt (Port Washington)
Can we agree to call this a Trexodus? Jews fleeing the Dems for Trump.

Because they have more than two neurons? See Ultrayman above.

It makes a good headline but the Jews will never vote in mass for the party of white supremacy no matter how many “influencers” tell us we’ve been “abandoned”. Lolz
GWPDA (Arizona)
The arrogance of a-historicism. The arrogance of believing that everybody "else" is so ignorant that you can get away with just making stuff up from dawn to dusk. Say something often enough, loudly enough, certainly enough and it will become true. This is how a con is pulled off, this is how the rubes get taken. It is astounding that nothing newer, fancier or more precise is needed to take the suckers for everything they've got. Yet, there it is.
jaco (Nevada)
@GWPDA As is evidenced by the folk who are conned into the "Trump is a white supremacist" meme. Or the Trump/Russia lie.
Michael Feeley (Honolulu)
I will go to my grave as Jewish democrat. I know that. Idealogically there is no place in the Republican Party for me. Especially with their recent cozying up to the alt-right and their blatant anti-semitism. However, for the democrats to deny that the progressive wing of their party does not contain considerable anti-semitism, is dangerous and short sighted. Before moving to Hawaii, I lived in Berkeley for 42 years, attending college, raising a family, belonging to a “progressive” conservative congregation with more than 250 families. In my 42 years in Berkeley there has been a steady rise in anti semitism from much of the leftist community. They call it anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian as a way of shielding themselves from facing the, sometimes, blatant anti semitism that comes out of their mouths and in their printed material. They, like anti-semitism throughout history will skew, misstate, or avoid the facts about Israel and its origins and the shared blame that exists about the current situation in Israel and Palestine. I fear that, for younger jews, both religious and progressive, it’s becoming easier for them to believe that the existence of Israel depends on a hard-line stance like they get from Netanyahu and the Republicans.
Bruce S (Boston)
@Michael Feeley In fairness, Ben-Gurion and other Israeli founders would have vomited at the cruel and illegal actions of the current Israeli government. It is 100% legitimate to criticize Israel, as a Jew or a non-Jew. I happen to be Jewish.
Charles Becker (Sonoma State University)
@Bruce S, Context matters. And just as it is incumbent on those who criticize Saudi Arabia to be scupulously clear that their criticism does not extend to Islam or SA's right to exist, so too of those who deem to criticize Israel. But that is not always the case, is it?
Michigan Girl (Detroit)
@Michael Feeley You can be opposed to the current conduct of Israel while agreeing, in principle, that a Jewish state is desirable and necessary. You can be pro-Palestinian rights and recognize that Palestinians also deserve a homeland. You can recognize that both groups are perfectly capable of sharing a homeland if they'd hang their egos and sense of entitlement and the door and work out a realistic two-state solution. With respect to younger Jews, most of the ones I know fall into the framework I have described -- they don't see the hard-line stance of Netanyahu as necessary or productive towards resolving conflict.
E (Pittsburgh)
As a Jew, I am disheartened by all of the "Court Jews" that fawn over, support, and serve with Trump. Whether you are deeply religious or, like me, completely secular, Trump and his minions act completely against any Jewish teachings.
Chris (Georgia’s)
Evangelicals are overwhelmingly pro-Israel and seem to think Trump is the second coming, but for the wrong reasons that have little to do with judaism. Combined with Trumps servile behavior towards Israel perhaps he may be seen as the second coming of Moses, hence Jexodus. It is indeed the strangest of times!
Bruce S (Boston)
@Chris It is critical that everyone understand that Israel≠Jews. Many if not most American Jews don't agree with Netanyahu and the right wing Jews.
Phyllis Melone (St. Helena, CA)
This despicable administration and amoral president have divided us according to sexual orientation, skin color, white supremacy and now religion. Why should Russia or any other country try to interfere in our elections? We seem quite capable of doing that for ourselves. It is our right to access the government of Israel under Netanyahu openly as we see fit without being called anti-semites. We have a tiny number of muslim members of congress who disagree with the policies of Israel as do many others in our country and should not be maligned for voicing that opinion. Once again Fox News has led the way for Ms. Pipko to be their cheer leader in vilifying the democratic party with this sorry attempt at distraction from the issues involved. Netanyahu is bad for Israel just as Trump is bad for the US.
Ken (Woodbridge, New Jersey)
“We left Egypt, and now we’re leaving the Democratic Party,” to wander in the desert.
Lawrence Siegel (Palm Springs, CA)
This is all about being suckers in the grifters web. If I could write the definitive con man's handbook, getting related (Jews) others to endorse the con is standard operating procedure. Not that this hasn't been a Hallmark of political activism for centuries, the strange twist here is that all of the logic is convoluted and the facts are mangled. It's clearly not in anyone's interest to "join the MAGA crowd," least of all Jews who have abundant recent examples of anti Semitic actions by Trump and his staunchest supporters. Crazy town just gets weirder every day.
Hortencia (Charlottesville)
Another 23 year old desperate for a spotlight, and then forgotten. This is just another abhorrent Trump scheme for division. His modus operandi is divide which he thinks conquers. Shows you how little he knows Jewish strength of character, and the determination of the majority who didn’t elect him. Only the weak are swayed by this tyrant.
Barbara (SC)
I don't know why any Jew would want to be a Republican these days. Outside of Trump's support for Israel, he offers most Jews very little--and even his support of Israel is handled in a slipshod manner with no regard for long term consequences. As a Jewish woman, I support free speech, freedom of religion (including Islam) and freedom of the press, strong gun safety measures, respect for others, regardless of race, creed or immigration status, healthcare access for all without bankruptcy and much more that Democrats support. A smart voter is not a one-issue voter.
EKW (Boston)
She's 23, folks. TWENTY-THREE. Just because she hashtags something doesn't make it a thing.
Gary Shaffer (Bklyn)
Oh puhlease. Here’s why Jews tend to be Democrats: because the lesson of the Exodus is to love the stranger in your midst because you were strangers in the land of Egypt. This against Republican ideology. Because the “Old Testament” teaches us we must not withhold fair wages from workers. But this is against Republican ideology. Because Hillel taught us that if we are only for ourselves, what are we? But such a question is antithetical to Republican ideology. Because the only US President to create a lasting peace betw Israel and its neighbor was a Democrat - the Republican reviled Jimmy Carter. That peace - after four wars within 25 years (‘48, ‘56, ‘67, and ‘73) - has now lasted 40 years. Ms. Pipkin should go study and come back after she has learned something.
Yo (Alexandria, VA)
There are now anti-Semitic elements in both the Republican and Democratic parties.
Joe (NYC)
She should enjoy her fifteen minutes. She’s nothing more than another trump huckster.

I do not really care what a 23 year old ex-swimsuit model and Trump supporter has to opine on any subject other than what her favorite color is.
Spucky50 (New Hampshire)
Next Trump Communications Director?
Bonnie Balanda (Livermore, CA)
There were plenty of Republican Jews post WWII. At that time the GOP was the party of ethics and individual rights. Dems then were southern racists. Jews became Dems when southerners became Republicans. It's not that long ago. Read a book.
Patrick Cone (Seattle)
Although I am not Jewish, if I were, I'd be very upset that a key tenet of my faith was being used in a flippant way for a cheap PR ploy. Take away the Exodus from the Jewish faith and what do you got? Trump and Co make a mockery of the thing they proclaim to hold so sacred. Religion is again used for sale.
Marian Rich (New York NY)
One more example of the failure of identity politics. As a progressive-minded independent Jew, I am finding the partisan back and forth about the Jewish people, the state of Israel and the realities of anti-Semitism nothing more than a political football. To think that the Trump administration really cares about the Jewish people is as ridiculous as believing they care about people of color and the poor and working class across this country. The latest move around the Golan Heights is one more example of a bad deal that Trump has made with Bibi, Adelson and the evangelical community - none of whom have the interests of the Jewish people top of mind (in my humble opinion). We'd all be better off living in a non-ideologically driven culture - without such hyper-partisan rhetoric. I'm reminded of this quote from educator Myles Horton: "Instead of thinking that you have to put pieces together that will add up to a whole, I think you have to start with the premise that they’re already together and you try to keep from destroying life by segmenting it, over-organizing it and dehumanizing it." How can we bring people together, rather than insisting on identity politics and partisan politics? Let's develop, America!
jiberger18 (New York City)
Sometimes a pretty face isn't really enough to speak for a whole group. Or even enough to convince people that pursuing social justice, and being responsible for the 'other,' are core ideals and practices that they should just shed, like a snake skin. Repairing the world, taking care of others, being responsible for all, this is what drives the 79% who voted against Trump to continue to 'keep the faith.'
laguna greg (guess where, CA)
Ms. Pipko has about as much credibility as Olivia Jade, and a similar work history, education, and career aspirations. Is anybody really fooled by this? The Right must be getting really desperate, even though it's obvious Trump will be re-elected.
Martha Shelley (Portland, OR)
Let's see--because of some swimsuit model, I'm supposed to abandon my Jewish ethics? I am the daughter of an undocumented immigrant, of refugees from the Holocaust. I'm a lesbian and a feminist. I have a lifelong commitment to the civil rights movement. And I'm supposed to join the party of the "Southern Strategy? the anti-reproductive rights, anti-gay party? the party that tears immigrant children away from their parents and locks them in for-profit "camps?" With regard to the last issue: Passover is coming, and all I can think is, "Do not oppress the foreigner, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt."
dave (Santa Fe)
Most Trumpsters have little or no grasp of the complexities of political science, history, or any other matter requiring more than a passing thought to understand. Jews for Trump certainly fills that bill. This woman is eye-candy for a living; there's nothing wrong with her career choices, or her desire to embrace her conservative side, or her support for Israel. But if she thinks that, in any way, Trump has been or is good for America, Israel, or the world, she's revealing a distinct shallowness of thought and values. Like all other Trumpsters, I simply cannot give real consideration to her point of view. There's nothing there. Hatred is not a sustainable political position. She can be safely ignored.
tarchin (Carmel Valley, CA)
One has to wonder how intelligent people are taken in by this claptrap. If all it takes to move a people from one side to another of an ancient issue is a tweet, we're done for.
Charlie (Long Island, NY)
Been there, done that. The Neoconservative movement would have gone nowhere if it relied solely on disaffected WASPS. Jewish intellectuals flocked to the notion of an international bulwark against the anti-religious stance of Socialism. That was post-WWII. Give us a break. The Jewish people have lived with targets on their backs for millennia-plus. Every savior, it seems, eventually turns into a demon for them. This will be no different.
ubique (NY)
The Exodus Movement is fine by me, as long as it includes the plagues. “Her skin was luscious, peachy clean. Her eyes a chocolate brown. Her smile full of life. The envy of her town.” With artistic genius like this to compete with, I can see why it’s so difficult to get admitted to Harvard. Oy gevult.

These are the statistical and metaphorical *edge cases* that always exist in a population. Why highlight them in such a prominent article?

@wlieu Hopefully so everyone can turn away and attend to more serious business at hand?

So should we be thankful this passover season? I don't think, at least not for the party or any individual that supports trump. And secy of state believes the lord may have chosen trump as a means to support and defend israel, per another news item. I don't think so. Thankfulness will come when this nighmare is done. Amen
B. Honest (Puyallup WA)
Any real 'Jexodous' would be Jews leaving Israel or at least the contested West Bank areas and any and all 'settlements'. Many of the American Jews that have gone to Israel come back with horror stories that while everything is nice and tidy, clean and orderly in the "Jewish" areas, those not Jewish are given the obviously worst places to be and the infrastructure is shoddy, well behind the 'Religious Tourist' spots. This whole idea of a Jexodous' sounds like a Republican Think tank trying to find some way to shame not just Democratic Jews, but also Christians with the name sounding similar to Jesus as well as Judaism. Obviously a group of political marketeers who have No Clue about Real Life and the Consequences of Words. Talk about Fake News, if there is no real controversy, try to start one. Sounds like this came straight from Trump and Kushner with nobody to give it 'reality filtering'. Twitter Hashtags are Not always concerning Reality. This one expresses a great Wish instead.
shimr (Spring Valley, NY)
"We left Egypt, and now we leave the Democratic Party." Ms. Pipko should remember that according to Jewish tradition a major reason that Jews left Egypt was because the cruel and inhumane Pharoah separated children from their parents ( before throwing them into the Nile). That was the reason Moses was put into the basket, to escape the Egyptian border patrol. Like all sensitive and feeling people, Jews could not tolerate serving a Pharoah who was so heartless that he would institute this policy. And now Ms. Pipko expects Jews to follow the new Trump party--formerly the Republican party--which pushes this same policy of separation (before throwing children into cages)?
C Feher (Corvallis, Oregon)
As it is with all things trump, it's just marketing.

"There was, of course, an Exodus in the Bible." Ummm ... Still is, AFAIK.
William McIntyre (Napa)
Strange voice from the wilderness of the twit generation setting herself up as a modern day Moses. She’ll have trouble parting the water.
ann (los angeles)
She’s going to micro-target Jewish voters, she says. Sounds like she may have some Cambridge Analytica-style assistance. That’s where I would focus my attention, were I to investigate this story further.
Chazak (Rockville Maryland)
Jewish voters are too smart to join the sinking ship that is Trump, thus the increase in Democratic voting from 2 years ago. We will not, however, be intimidated by anti-semitic Congresswomen Tlaib and Omar. They should expect a strong primary challenge next year.
JK (California)
Sadly another pretty young woman using her sexuality for pathetic self-promotion. I read nothing here that indicates she has any deep, thoughtful basis for whatever she believes, be it past, present or future. As with most of the women in the Trump orbit, she is clearly too superficial to see the men around are simply using her their own personal gain as well as arm candy to sway the uneducated who think they want to be her. As a woman, it's women like Ms. Pipko who keep setting us back.
JH (Philadelphia)
Given the expose of fraudulent college entrance scams, Ms. Pipko’s fluffing up her CV comes as no surprise. Given the target demographic is one which has toiled over the increasingly hard packed soils of our political landscape, no matter how attractively you package a manure spreader, they will recognize it for what it is. Plus, no matter how much perfume you apply, the scent is unmistakeable.
Gig (Spokane)
Because swimsuit models are steeped in the nuances of foreign policy...

Please, please, please, NY Times, do not give baby grifters a platform from which to broadcast their non-messages, which are ultimately only designed to bring them money and fame. The Trump presidency has brought about an endless stream of them; let anyone who's actually interested go find them in the bowels of social media where they belong.
Bob (Pennsylvania)
@Jenny Amen!
Daniel D'Arezzo (Fountain Inn, SC)
I am inspired to initiate my own #Gayxit non-movement. The Democratic Party will soon be hemorrhaging LGBTQ Americans who are proud patriots, poets and ex-models and are gravitating to the GOP because. . . why? Yes! Because why not? Do you need a reason? I'm sure Kellyanne can come up with one. For example, it was a Republican-majority Supreme Court, with a Republican-appointed Chief Justice, that made same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states. This is a true fact as well as an alternative fact. You can have it both ways. It's a new GOP in which Mike Pence welcomes Ireland's openly gay Taoiseach and his charming husband. White gay men and white lesbians are invited to join the soon-to-be-more-stylish Republican Party. You will be tolerated!
jrw (Portland, Oregon)
It’s a great time to be a narcissist.
Dianne Friedman (Virginia)
Shame on her, but what can you expect from a self promoting narcissistic person like her. She is a great reflection of Trump. Not so much a reflection of Jewish thought and sentiment. Most of us still have our moral center of caring for other people and our earth. Ignore her and her movement.
Paul Wortman (Providence)
**RESUBMISSION** Let's all remember that the real "Jexodus" that we'll soon celebrate with Passover was from slavery under a cruel autocrat--the Egyptian Pharaoh. This inversion of the Exodus, which is more appropriately a Nexodus, is a return to the imprisonment of an anti-Semitic bigot who condoned neo-Nazis marching and singing "Jews will not replace us" in Charlottesville. It is bowing to a man whose reckless rhetoric encouraged a follower to massacre 11 Jews in their synagogue in Pittsburgh last October. Those who remember the Holocaust, as I do coming from a Holocaust family and named for a Polish rabbi who perished, can only condemn and "bear witness" to those who themselves fled from Egypt, but have forgotten the harsh lessons and teachings of our ancestors. Now chant the Four Kashas, and prepare the bitter herbs.
Tristan (Los Angeles)
So the party of white supremacists, the party of “jews will not replace us”, the party of “very fine people on both sides”, are trying to convince Jews to join them because Democrats are supposedly anti-semitic?! This is amazing.
Mark Shyres (Laguna Beach, CA)
Based on the highly reactive (and perhaps, in come cases, inflamed) comments , this seems to have struck a nerve or two among Democrats, (and by tone of the article, the NY Times as well). Does it seem this article is working not to subtlety to discredit Ms. Pipko? Why? Perhaps because the Jexodus may resonate with a lot of Jewish Americans and others? Hate to say this (not really), but some of the recent Jewish distrust of, and disillusion to the Democratic party probably started with Obama. Justified or not it was certainly there, and now it's here, but even more so. Was the NY Times was deaf to it then? And now they are surprised? Let me use a quote the Progressives used for Omar, but this time for Ms. Pipko, "Go for it, girl."
Leah (Tel Aviv)
The woman in the article is merely a puppet - her “accomplishments” are paper thin and she has barely a leg to stand on. It’s infuriating the magnitude in which Trump underestimates the mental autonomy of the Jewish people.
Carl Yaffe (Rockville, Maryland)
@Mark Shyres I would shorten that to just "Go away, girl."
Mark Shyres (Laguna Beach, CA)
@Carl Yaffe Carl, I think you made my case. Thank you again.
Eli Beckman (San Francisco, CA)
As a Jew, I’ll be the first to say that this is simply ridiculous. No self-respecting Jew would ever turn their back on the party of tolerance, inclusion, and progress—much less to embrace the party of anti-Semitism and xenophobia. The fact is this: President Trump described neo-Nazis as “fine people.” There is truly nothing more to say.
J. von Hettlingen (Switzerland)
When the 23-year-old Elizabeth Pipko boasted online that “Her skin was luscious, peachy clean. Her eyes a chocolate brown. Her smile full of life. The envy of her town,” it made me frown. I watched her on YouTube and listened to her frustration as a diehard Trump supporter and her anger at people, who are hostile towards her president. And She doesn’t seem understand why, although she embraces “democracy.” All in all Pipko makes the impression of an opportunist seeking to gratify her appetite for publicity. Jeff Ballabon is another Jew who “said he was deeply disturbed by the rising tide of anti-Israel sentiment on the progressive left.” Once again, in most cases, it has nothing to do with anti-Semitism. Being critical of Israel’s right-wing politics under Benjamin Netanyahu is seen as deplorable by conservative Jews. Trump, eager to help Netanyahu win next month, embraces Pipko’s effort to lure Jewish voters away from Democrats in 2020. Republicans welcome her with open arms. But the “79 percent” of Jews, who voted for Democrats in 2018 midterm elections, will hardly change their minds. For the progressives, addressing economic inequality, expanding health care, and unseating a president who does nothing other than terrorising the country and the international community should be their priorities.
VVV03 (NY, NY)
Leni Riefenstahl with Instagram brows. That sounds like a recipe for disaster. I don't anticipate many Jews are going to fall for that nonsense again.
Fredric Alan Maxwell (Milwaukie, Oregon)
"If the statistics are right, the Jews constitute but one percent of the human race. It suggests a nebulous dim puff of star dust lost in the blaze of the Milky Way. Properly the Jew ought hardly to be heard of, but he is heard of, has always been heard of. He is as prominent on the planet as any other people, and his commercial importance is extravagantly out of proportion to the smallness of his bulk. His contributions to the world's list of great names in literature, science, art, music, finance, medicine, and abstruse learning are also away out of proportion to the weakness of his numbers. He has made a marvellous fight in the world, in all the ages; and has done it with his hands tied behind him. He could be vain of himself, and be excused for it. The Egyptian, the Babylonian, and the Persian rose, filled the planet with sound and splendor, then faded to dream-stuff and passed away; the Greek and the Roman followed, and made a vast noise, and they are gone; other peoples have sprung up and held their torch high for a time, but it burned out, and they sit in twilight now, or have vanished. The Jew saw them all, beat them all, and is now what he always was, exhibiting no decadence, no infirmities of age, no weakening of his parts, no slowing of his energies, no dulling of his alert and aggressive mind. All things are mortal but the Jew; all other forces pass, but he remains. What is the secret of his immortality?" Mark Twain
Carl Yaffe (Rockville, Maryland)
@Fredric Alan Maxwell It ain't narcissists like this girl, that's for sure.
Diane L. (Los Angeles, CA)
Talk about gas lighting! Republicans are "wooing" Jews because they feel Democrats have abandoned them? Just ask yourself before you leave... which party fought hardest for civil rights and which party fought to stop them?
Marc (San Diego)
‘Jexodus’ is a joke. Just like a leader who can’t condemn psychopaths chanting “Jews will not replace us” as they tromp down American boulevards. That is the anti-semitism that I fear for my Jewish family.
Tim (New York NY)
So, Trump went from ‘Jews will not replace us’ and being quoted by the Anti Semitic killer in Pittsburgh to a cheap set up of a fake organization led by a person with a fake resume. Classic Trump—tell a lie, reinforce with more lies and pretend on a different side Supporting the Jews state does not mean pandering to their every whim. Regional issues deserve attention as well.
Richard (Savannah, Georgia)
More publicity and fame by going against fundamental Jewish values. Oy vey!
judgeroybean (ohio)
So let me get this straight, Ms. Pipko is the new Moses, leading her people into the promised land of Steve King, white supremacists and Neo-Nazis. Good luck with that.
Citizen (America)
Trump has gone to any may lengths as he possibly can to equivocate antisemitism in this country to other reasonable forms of protest and free speech. How on earth can anyone look at his administration or the party to which he is the figurehead of as being a safe haven for their interests? No... this sounds much more like an instagram psudo-celeb getting front page NYTimes coverage because she's attractive and saying something controversial. Enough with the distractions!
with age comes wisdom (california)
Beware of false prophets!
D. Knight (Canada)
First we get this story of a model turned Trumpian megaphone and now we get Mike Pompeo announcing that in fact Trump may be a messenger from God https://www.businessinsider.in/mike-pompeo-says-its-certainly-possible-that-trump-may-be-the-modern-day-savior-of-the-jewish-people/articleshow/68520644.cms Just when you thought things could not get any crazier. People, look at the man’s record, Trump is only in it for Trump. Period.
MC (NJ)
Here is the alliance: Netanyahu/Likud/Israeli Jewish right-wing coalition of ethno-nationalists and Jewish theocrats that now includes (with Netanyahu’s cynical invitation) Jewish Power Party - openly fully racist and admirers/followers of Meir Kahane and outlawed terrorist Kach Party, and large portion of Israel’s billionaires; only 30% of Jewish Americans: Ultra-Orthodox (who would find swimsuit model Pipko’s outfits completely unacceptable, Saudi style outfits preferred for women), Orthodox and non-religious Breitbart Jewish types, Kushner and Adelson type billionaires; majority of White Evangelicals (biggest group of Americans - it’s not majority of Jewish Americans - who support Netanyahu’s version of Israel) who love Israel so Jesus can come back; Trump white nationalists and right-wing billionaire class; Saudi Wahhabi (gave us 9/11, Bin Laden, Al Qaeda, ISIS) - virulently anti-Semitic - UAE/Kuwait/Jordan/Arab royalty and billionaire class; every anti-Semitic white nationalist, all types of nationalists, autocrats around the world as long as they support Netanyahu’s version of Israel. The only time this coalition cares about/uses anti-Semitism as a weapon is if the anti-Semitism is tied to opposition to Netanyahu’s version of Israel; otherwise the coalition openly engages in worst types of anti-Semitism themselves. Quite an Unholy Alliance that Ms. Pipko wants Jewish Americans to join - most Jewish Americans are far too moral and intelligent to do so.
AusTex (Austin, Texas)
Most American Jews find the President repulsive both in his boorish behavior and utter lack of human decency. Those that do support him may like his blank check policy towards his fellow traveler Netanyahu another trickster but they represent a short sighted minority that ignore history. I have no doubt the next Administration will roll or walk back these pronouncements as unproductive and destabilizing. Ms. Pipko reminds me more of Maria Butina and the NRA. One day she will have to get a real job and become irrelevant.
kathleen cairns (San Luis Obispo Ca)
Come on. This woman is twenty three and she is featured in the NYT? Because she is a "leader" in a fringe movement and is "kind of" saying goodbye to modeling? You can do better than this.
Alan Mass (Brooklyn)
This new "movement" is joke. The number of American Jews who will be won away from the Democrats because they didn't stomp on their new and inexperienced Muslim congresswomen as anti-Semites is minimal or even non-existent. American Jews support the Democrats because it is the only major party that supports civil and human rights for minorities and believes that government has an important job to do in protecting its people from threats to their health and welfare. Where else would they go? To a GOP that panders to white supremacists who have historically stirred up hatred of Jews as scapegoats and fundamentalist Christians who see Jews at most as temporary allies to hasten the Second Coming of Jesus and the forced conversion of Jews?
atb (Chicago)
Is there just no end to the stupidity that exists in America? First we get a an idiot reality show host as president and a nude model as a First Lady and now this?? People, this is what we deserve for our centuries of anti-intellectualism. Still think capitalism is working??
Claudia (CA)
We can hope that her 15-minutes of fame is at 14 1/2 minutes and counting. Let Fox give these "I desperately need attention" phonies with their exaggerated resumes a platform. Don't lower your standards, NYT. She isn't worth the paper that your Sunday edition is printed on.
DG (Kirkland)
Like everything that comes out of Trumpland, there's nothing real here. Fake Harvard, fake ice skater, fake name, and probably a bunch of fake Instagram followers. My bet is she doesn't even know the first thing about Judaism. NYT, spend time on the people really making a difference, not this fake flash in the pan.
Bill (Madison, Ct)
She appears to be another extreme conservative with too much money and too much time on her hands. If she looked, she'd find that trump is as anti-semitic as they come.
Amanda Jones (Chicago)
The only glitch in this plan is Trump---I suspect Jews in general are not migrating to a party where their leader supports white men walking around with lit torches above their head shouting anti-semitic slogans.
Jack Edwards (Richland, W)
Based on what I read, I think Ms. Pipko's Jexodus is good thing. Good riddance.
Mr. Mark (California)
Reporting on a 23 year old's instagram is beneath the New York Times. Implying that American Jews will shift their loyalty from one party to the other solely because of what that party does for Israel is pretty much what Ilhan Omar got in trouble for saying. Implying that American Jews will shift their loyalty to Trump's Republicans, for any reason, is an even worse insult.
wyleecoyoteus (Cedar Grove, NJ)
This young woman is nothing more than a shameless opportunist. She doesn't represent anything or anybody except one more phony Fox News wishful thinking red herring. As a Jewish American and a long-standing New York Times reader, I am puzzled about why the Times chooses to give her free exposure. Aren't there enough genuine current events to report on these days?
Chris from PA (Wayne, PA)
"Pipko has branded herself on social media as a onetime figure skater, a part-time poet and a former Trump campaign aide..." I have branded her as an idiot.
Wellstone (USA)
We will eventually find out who is paying her, and how much. Pathetic
Theni (Phoenix)
How come Jared and Pipko cannot convince Trump to condemn the chanters of "Jews will not replace us!"? Trump will lure everyone to vote for his racists ideology. Divide and conquer is his election strategy. He is the king of the haters. If anything, everyone needs to be very afraid of white nationalist. Trump on the other hand, seems to embrace them with open arms!
Let’s Go (USA)
How insulting. Lumping us in with the corrupt GOP. Anyone who knows anything about Jews knows that we value education and Doing The Right Thing. And we’re not water carriers for Israel. That’s a mess they need to figure out.
Skier (Alta, UT)
Not gonna happen! Tikkun olam — heal the world, what an upstanding member of a Jewish community is obligate to work on — is just the opposite of what the Republican party has been up to for decades. It is true that the religious nuts of many stripes like the Republicans, but most Jews don’t fall into that camp. Trump is a bigot, so are many of the Republican leaders. Omar might well be anti-semitic, but we have endured her ilk before.
DGH (Houston)
She reminds me of the woman who is the latest spokesperson for the NRA. She must be paid just as well.
scsmits (Orangeburg, SC)
You're supporting a political party whose supporters chanted in Charlotsville: "Jews will not replace us." Do you ever have problems!
Jane (Sierra foothills)
Dear Men (including Jewish Men), If you switch allegiance to the Republican Party based on the posturings of a hot young swimsuit model, in the expectation she will have sex with you if you support her cause: that's not going to happen guys. In fact, if you expect sex with gorgeous models as a reward for joining the GOP, you will be cruelly disappointed. It is true that if you make a huge campaign donation, you might indeed get sex with one of the people who make up the vast majority of Republicans. If Mitch McConnell or Lindsay Graham turn you on, then go for it.
Carl Yaffe (Rockville, Maryland)
@Jane Gosh, not even Marsha Blackburn?
Mr. Little (NY)
How Jews can embrace a man supported by neo-Nazis, and by groups who march down streets with torches chanting “Jews will not replace us!” is hard to comprehend. Are we going to see ultra-orthodox men in long black coats and black hats standing side by side with skinhead white nationalists pumping their fists in the air screaming “Lock Her Up?” Of course, Trump’s brilliant handling of the Golan Heights and the Embassy move to Jerusalem will be of great service in helping especially the ultra-orthodox to get on board. And a swimsuit model couldn’t hurt.
Roch McDowell (Bronx NY)
A 23 year old model with an Jexodus slogan? Sign me up!!!
Thinker26 (New York)
This is just another wannabe looking for fame. Who can take this person seriously? Just Fox News and folowers...
MP (Frisco, Texas)
Why are the Democrats surprised, especially even as they promote bigots like Congresswoman Ilhan Omar within their ranks; and further causes deeply offensive causes such as the BDS, a thinly veiled anti-semitic pogram, uh, ... I meant to say program.
Mathias (NORCAL)
This is like inviting African Americans into the KKK to gain political advantage. Is it simply face paint and politics with daggers held high for the finale after mission accomplished?
Doug Gillett (Los Angeles, CA)
As a (Catholic) Democrat, nothing about "Jexodus" worries me. Their sales pitch for wooing Jewish people to the GOP doesn't appear to contain anything more substantial than the usual conservative boilerplate about defending Israel, an issue on which the standard Republican position—blanket condemnation of Palestinians, and blind agreement with Netanyahu, no matter how racist or demagogic he becomes—is soundly rejected by Jewish people in the U.S. in poll after poll. My question is this: If the Times saw fit to make this the third paragraph of this article . . . "The rise of Ms. Pipko and the notion of a Jexodus — there is no evidence that any such thing is occurring — is an object lesson in how an idea can migrate from a no-name messenger to the broad body politic, through the organ of Fox News and the megaphone of the president’s Twitter account." . . . then did it ever occur to anybody at the paper that by publicizing this so-called "movement" that is, by the Times' own admission, all but non-existent, they are only fueling the Jexodus idea's "migration" from no-name messenger to a level of prominence it has done nothing to deserve?
Caryn Bregman (New Jersey)
The GOP’s attempt to con Jews into joining them is absurd. POTUS has done nothing to combat the increase of anti semitism in this Country. Saying some neo nazi’s are very fine people says it all. The GOP’s attack on Omar and Tlaib, calling them anti semitic, is a distorted interpretation of these women’s concerns about the Israeli government’s treatment of Palestians (which has been abhorrent). And besides so many stances of the current GOP go against what the majority of Jews support - addressing climate change, women’s rights and the right to choose, civil rights, access to affordable and quality healthcare, gun control, a fair tax code that doesn’t only cater to the ultra rich, quality public education and affordable secondary education, working with our allies, and so much more. The choice couldn’t be any more obvious - the Democratic Party, while it must address problems within, is most aligned and currently the best choice for American Jews. Just because she is pretty doesn’t mean what she supports is good - it’s basically another example of putting lipstick on a pig.
Padfoot (Portland, OR)
We liberal Jews need a reverse movement, so I say to any Jew who votes Republican, never again.
Lewis Sternberg (Ottawa, ON.)
Forgetting about where the U.S. Embassy to Israel is located and what Trump’s opinion is of the Israeli occupation of the Golan, this Jewish American-Canadian will not cast his ballot for a shtick-drek like Trump no matter what a swimsuit model has to say.
TFPLD (Pittsburgh)
If she was serious about anything other than promoting herself she would not "pose" for the NYTimes photog. as she did. If she was serious about anything she would not "shade" Harvard like she did. If she was serious about anything she would change her instagram account and delete all the frivolous posts. She wants her 15 minutes of fame. She was on Fox. Now the Times.. let's see how serious she is about excited she is about being "serious".
Deirdre (New Jersey)
Ms Pipko is just the latest Dana Loesch
Able Nommer (Bluefin Texas)
Jeleaders are rebranding "Jexodus" after Trump tweeted it? Jeluck getting the Jenie into the Evangelicals' sacrament vessel. Jelarious pandering to Jewish voters can be expected from Republicans for the next 19 months.
SAL (Illinois)
What’s the relevance of including her poetry in the story and listing that she was part of a Harvard extension program instead of Harvard? Nothing but a hit piece masquerading as news reporting and rank elitism ....
Robert K (Boston, MA)
As the son of a German Jewish refugee, I want to switch to a political party who believes that good people marched with those who chant "Jew will not replace us" and say nothing about Steve King. It will take a lot more than a 'pretty face' to attract Jews to a anti-semetic white nationalist. But then again, stupidity knows no bounds...
Trilby (NYC)
Whatever one may think about "swimsuit models," this is an editorial. Why is it not presented as such. Further, I will never forgive Sheryl Gay Stolberg for all the cover she provided for George Bush, who was so much worse a president for our country than Trump ever will be. She has a lot to answer for and should not be throwing shade on anyone, even a swimsuit model. There is also a Blaxit movement happening, by the way. Black people leaving the Democratic party and urging others to do so. Can the Times please make fun of them next?
Alan Snipes (Chicago)
Ms. Pipko is supporting a sexist and a racist. Most American Jews will not be doing that. She is trying to create an impression that Jews are fed up with Democrats. She is being used as a propaganda tool by Trump, and apparently she does not mind or is unaware.
Saverino (Palermo Park, MN)
And we are to be concerned that she is a former swim-suit model for what reason, New York Times?
R. Rappa (Baltimore)
How amazingly insidious this newTrump media trick is and how transparent. I won’t ever even dignify this trash trial by using this acronym. The Jewish people stand for so much more than just a link to Israel. They have been a voice for charity, peace and understanding. They helped build the USA and they are a support to every community they inhabit. Jewish men and women have served faithfully in our armed forces. Their examples of contributions to our American society are endless. Trump once again tries to reduce the American Jewish community to his single focus of his 2020 re-election The media should not support this new campaign of Trump Hate by giving him coverage.
NYer (NYC)
So Republicans, who ignore, tacitly encourage, or encourage anti-Semitism (along with other sorts of bigotry and hatred), want to convince Jews to vote for the party who espouses such policies? And using some "swimsuit model" with a bogus bio? Can we all spell "duplicitous set-up"? Or how about the "big Lie"?
JAM (MA)
On the chance that the Jexists are reading the comments, I am a lifelong Jewish Democrat and will remain so. I don't know a single Jew who votes or will vote Republican. 45 sure does seem to attract a lot of snake oil salespeople, doesn't he?
Incorporeal Being (NY NY)
The GOP policy agenda is antithetical to the Jewish concept of tikkun olam, pursuant to which each Jew must work to improve the world and to behave in a manner beneficial to others. There is nothing for modern (non-extremist) American Jews in the trickle-down, lock-em-up, anti-abortion, gun-toting Republican Party, especially as headed by a white Christian giving aid and comfort to violent white power extremists worldwide.
Wilbray Thiffault (Ottawa. Canada)
Did the leader of the Republican Party said that the Nazis, Holocaust Deniers, Anti-Semite seen in Charlottesville were "fine people"? Did in the last commercial in the 2016 Presidential campaign, the Republican Party denounced the Globalists? (And do not be mistaken Globalists is the code word for Jews as Cosmopolitans was the code word for Jews in the USSR of Joseph Staline?) Did President Trump accused the globalist George Soros to be behind and paying the people in the caravan ready to invade the USA in 2018? Did the Republican Party ran some Holocaust deniers and anti-Semite candidates in the last midterm election? Sound like the fox trying to get the chickens on his side.
HL (Arizona)
The Republicans are playing on the anti-Semitic canard of dual loyalty among American Jews. American Jews are loyal to the USA first. The vast majority of them understand that White Nationalism, isn't good for Jews or America and will reject it. Elizabeth Pipko is collaborating with White Nationalist. She should will have to live with that shame.
San Ta (North Country)
Is this article a news report or an opinion contribution? The NYT has done a great job of blurring the distinction over the past several years. There are serious issues facing American voters who happen to be Jews, whether or not they support the policies of the current Israeli government. In the past, Black voters tended to vote Republican, e.g., "Black Republican" was the epithet concerning their voting behaviour, which was due to the prominence of racist Southern Democrats in the party's hierarchy. Now Jewish voters, who predominantly have voted for Democrats because of the party's liberal economic and social policy stances since the New Deal, are being challenged by bigoted Democrats whose views are excused because they are "women of colour" and youthful. Are Christian Zionists accused of having dual loyalties or only Jewish Zionists? One guess only. It is clear that hatred of Trump had led many otherwise thoughtful Democrats to excuse hatred and bigotry if promoted by Democrats. Rep. Hoyer, for example, complains about "[e]xploiting anti-Semitism for partisan advantage", yet ignores that Rep. Omar was elected precisely on the basis of her clearly stated anti-Semitism. When the religious bigotry of Somali Muslims is exploited by Democrats for political advantage ... well, that's okay because it's a "Democrat" who is doing it. If Rep. Omar is a "Democrat," perhaps Jewish voters should decide if they want to remain in the same tent. Hexodus, anyone?
Carl Yaffe (Rockville, Maryland)
@San Ta Omar clearly stated ignorance, not anti-Semitism. And what is your evidence of "the religious bigotry of Somali Muslims"? I'm very comfortable being in the same tent with Omar and with Steny Hoyer, even though we certainly disagree about some things. On the other hand, I can do without "Christian Zionists".
San Ta (North Country)
@Carl Yaffe: Excuse Omar on the groundless claim that she is ignorant, if you will, but claiming that Jewish Americans that served their country with their lives are, in effect, traitors, is beyond "ignorance." It is a vile accusation, and it reflects the attitudes and beliefs of the people with whom she lives, with whom she associates, and who voted for her. That is my "evidence." If she is so ignorant, why is she in the position to legislate for my country? You might hate Trump so much that you will excuse anyone who opposes him. That is your right, but holding one's nose doesn't take away the odor.
Sean Hays (Scottsdale, AZ)
So, that’s a joke, right? This is actually the Borowitz report in disguise. Has to be. No human being can be that willfully ignorant. Why are you giving air time to a fraud whose chops, narrative, and impact you doubt repeatedly in your own article. Trash like this is best ignored until it rots away.
Carl Yaffe (Rockville, Maryland)
I wonder how long it will take after the 2020 election (regardless of results) for Trump to dump Melania and go after her? In any case, let us hope that she and those who "think" similarly will take the next logical step and become "Jews for Jesus", or something else as oxymoronic aa Jews for Trump. Most of us won't even notice that they've left.
James (Virginia)
Nice, one side is wooing black, women, LGBT, Asian, White Supremacist, Labor Union. The other is wooing Aliens, Hispanics, Jews, Whites, Blues, Greens, Lavenders. Hmm, seems both parties are challenged with focusing on American values and more interested in racial profiling.
Starman (MN)
There is merit to this idea. The Democrats take Jews for granted much the way they take blacks for granted. Democrats are more than happy to take votes and donations from Jews while promoting policies that do nothing for them. Democrats worship at the altar of intersectionality, which places Jews at the bottom. Jews would be wise to look at the Republican Party.
Carling (OH)
This trick isn't new. The Far-right in France latched onto parts of the Jewish electorate way back in the 1980s and 90s. Mostly, Jewish emigres from Algeria who hated the Arabs as much as the French ultra-right. Incidentally, that tie-in occurred when the French far-right was led by an avowed pro-Nazi.
Christopher C. Lovett (Topeka, Kansas)
Isn't this ironic that Donald Trump and his personal enablers seek to convince American Jewry that the Democratic Party is anti-Semitic, while Trump's flirtation with known neo-Nazi and right-wing hate groups continues unabated? Isn't it shocking that Trump links himself to European politicians that either diminish the Holocaust or embark on wholesale campaigns of state-sponsored anti-Semitism in Hungary and Poland? It is amazing that Trump tries this gambit as his poll numbers are tanking. If anyone accepts this fraud at face value then there are still seats available at Trump U.
Mat (Come)
Jexadous is as laughable as blacksadous. There will always be a few tokens willing to buck the trend for individual attention but there is no way that she will ever unroot centuries of support for the democrat party let alone resettle it with the party of white supremacy. I would bet she’s either orthodox or first generation at best And lacks historical reference to why we vote dem in the first place.
Paul Cantor (New York)
It should be noted that the actual story of Exodus -- that is, Jews being cast out of slavery in Egypt, then wandering the desert for 40 years in search of a homeland -- is a total fiction. There is no record of Jews ever being slaves in Egypt, no record of them building pyramids, no record that they ever wandered in any desert, anywhere. It is a total and absolute lie, proven time and again by historians, anthropologists, archeologists, and all manner of people involved with real science, not fake news. That a certain sub-sect of Jews would be using this as a narrative to further their own wacky agenda -- Jexodus -- is disappointing to say the least. Even more disappointing than having to find out your entire religion is based on a cleverly-told myth. As Trump himself might say -- Sad!
Martha Shelley (Portland, OR)
@Paul Cantor Mr. Cantor, the story of the Exodus is an "aggadah," a legend. It is retold at Passover, in the form of the "Haggadah," meaning The Legend. The importance of the legend is in the values it inspires. Instead of being a glorification of kings, it is a story of an oppressed people's escape from slavery, and therefore of the value of the individual, however lowly their station. That story inspired generations of black slaves in America. I was trained in science and do research for a living. I am very well aware that the Exodus is a legend and not a real history, but it continues to inspire me and guide my actions toward my fellow human beings. You might try reading it with your heart and see where that takes you.
Bob (Pennsylvania)
@Paul Cantor Come, come, mon cher. Tell us how you really feel. Why such vehement venom and superciliousness? Do you really think most of us Jews are uneducated, uncaring, and stupid - especially regarding something like this? I hope you are not Jewish, because if you are you are a fine exemplar of an old adage.
Norman (Kingston)
Yeah, this Mashuganaga is going to shift major voting patterns because of her catchy slogan, "Jexodus".
Rich Connelly (Chicago)
"We left Egypt, and now we're leaving the Democratic Party." Does Ms. Pipko know what happened after Moses led the Jews out of Egypt? They wandered in the desert for forty years!
Chris (DC)
Ah yes - republicans are going to bring Jewish democrats into the party while the republican fringe simultaneously peddles antisemitism and white nationalism. It amazes me the increasingly surreal contradictions republicans are so gullibly willing to swallow about themselves.
George (NYC)
Liberal Democrats regardless of their spiritual beliefs will not change their views merely because an attractive young woman says it will happen. Total nonsense and not worth the space The Times has afforded it.
Darko Begonia (New York)
If “Jews for Jesus” didn’t fool the bulk of us, this feeble bit of social media detritus-tethered to the most despicable human being in American governance-certainly won’t.
Jarrod Lipshy (Athens, GA)
These "campaigns" are blatant astroturfing and always come across as condescending. No Jewish person "attends" the Democratic party like they might attend a school. They voluntarily align themselves with certain candidates and political philosophies because of how corresponding policies affect issues they care about. Saying "the Dems don't deserve your vote," is a vague, specious argument waved about in bad faith. There's also the false presumption that there is some sort of revelation to be had in ONE person's sudden desire to seek attention, erm, sorry: feel strongly about migrating to another political movement. These noxious campaigns have the same subtlety of a laundry detergent commercial telling me to switch from brand X because they don't use clean-o-matic technology. It's downright belittling, and no one asked for it. Persuasive political arguments aren't built on someone telling me what to think; they're built on thoughts. There's clearly an absence of that going on here.
Barry Williams (NY)
@Jarrod Lipshy Exactly. The Internet and social media has elevated the power of the minority, too often the power of the one. It's a world wide medium, so even 50 million "likes" or views would be minuscule with a world population of over 7.7 billion. Similarly, focus on an AOC or Ilhan Omar, when they each represent only 1 district out of the 435 in the USA, is a bit disingenuous. A clever meme (Jexodus) can be dangerous, because perception is reality. Too early to tell if this one will fool enough people to reach danger status.
R (New York)
@Barry Williams NYT is doing their part to boost it to danger status!
Mark Shyres (Laguna Beach, CA)
@R That's what they enjoy doing. They see it as their duty as well as their pleasure. It may be the latter, but one might question the former.

Straight out of the playbook from Trumps alma mater - The WWE Self promotion fueled by controversy, anatagonism, us v them.
Sidewalk Sam (New York, NY)
Thank you, New York Times, for directing my attention to this glittering cypher masquerading as a new political trendsetter; she is a reminder of the bottomless cynicism of the Republican party, and the necessity of turning out for the Democratic alternative in any and all elections.
NS (Columbus, OH)
At this point in the game, my reaction is less one of outrage than of weary exasperation. How much energy and time do we need to continue to devote to analysis or debunking of the latest ego-and-id-driven smoke and mirrors campaign by Trump? Accusing democrats (and apparently Saturday Night Live) of collusion with Russia, racism, and now antisemitism have all been speck of dust in your neighbor's eye, log in your own moments. Anyone using their reasoning faculties understands this by now. These are clearly serious issues, and deserve attention and discussion. That is what the Democrats have been offering, even if clumsily at times, working to hold their own accountable from Franken onward. Most of the Republican party is doubly duplicitous in this regard - using Democrat's mea culpas as a weapon, while doubling down on their admit-no-evil public face to suggest that their own lack of shame implies a lack of guilt. What can we expect, though, aside from this approach that mimics what is being embodied by the man at the top. The Emperor has been naked since he descended his golden escalator to announce his misbegotten candidacy. The problem is that a third of the country is still talking about how truly marvelous his clothes are, the greatest ever, while gesturing at empty space.
Jaime Martinez (Portland, OR)
Where were these Jexodus people when the shooting in Pennsylvania killed many Jews using MAGA conspiracy theories? or when white nationalists would chant "Jews will not replace us" and yet their leader couldnt denounce white supremacy...
Marty Hafner (Las Vegas)
This is hilarious. A party that opening courts neo Nazis claims to be a pro-Jewish party. These are strange and dangerous times.
BoulderEagle (Boulder, CO)
All this Jew has to say is: good luck with that. I don't know a single other member of the tribe that would ever support Trump.
Amanda Bonner (New Jersey)
So why is the NYT giving this ridiculous "Jexodus" commentary more publicity? Allow this junk to live and die on Fox and rightwing websites but don't play it in the mainstream media.
Kally (Boston)
I don't care if you're model, if you're qualified to speak on the topic you espouse, go for it, I'll listen. There are beautiful brilliant women everywhere. But yet again the Trump movement backs a pretty face with no substance (see Tomi Lahrem, Ivanka Trump, Lara Trump) to preach a stupid and offensive idea. The whole concept of "Jexodus" is insulting to Jewish Americans. Besides everything else I find offensive about her, I also think Harvard should sue her for representing/not correcting the idea that she goes to "Harvard" while in actuality taking classes at their extension school- anyone can take classes there, you don't need to be admitted, I've even taken couple- trust me, it's not that hard lol. She's using this platform for self-promotion, while manipulating the few credentials she has, for a "cause" I'd question she even believes in. #sad #fakenews lol
plmcadam (NJ)
She's 23. Research has shown the human brain does not mature until the age of twenty-seven, and the last portion to develop fully is the frontal lobe, where consequences to one's actions (or reactions) are evaluated. That's why the most dangerous period of life for young people is that from age 14 to 27 -- when young people use their burgeoning independence and volition to make bad decisions which kill or injure them, sometimes effecting them negatively for the rest of their lives. Car accidents, gang activity, petty crimes, all with real-world consequences. Even what one tweets and puts up on social media may cause one to regret at a later date decisions made while young. I'm a Democrat, but I don't worry about Trump. He is contemptible, but transparent, obvious, and, at 72, not long for the round-up. I worry more about the people who have been conned by him and follow him blindly. Their words and actions, and what they have failed to say and to do, during these brief years of Trump, will color their reputations for the rest of their lives -- certainly many decades into the future. Ms. Pipko is entitled to her opinions. Let's see what her 40-year old self thinks of what her 23-year old version did and said. For most of us, it's usually not a good comparison; for Trumpers I think it will be especially bad. Of course, the old white men in the Republican Senate can't plead that their brains aren't fully developed to explain their uselessness. What will be their excuse?
Candlewick (Ubiquitous Drive)

Some orthodox communities vote as a bloc for the candidate they perceive to espouse the strongest pro-Israel policy. In 2016 that was Donald Trump.
we Tp (oakland)
Funny how little it takes to create the appearance of a movement: a pretty girl and a cute name. We use to object when businesses funded organizations pretending to be "grass-roots"; it was called astro-turfing. That at least took 10's or 100's of real people. What should we call this? "Truth Babe"? An ironic turn on the much-maligned technology conference "booth babes"? (Or can we not say "babe" now in the era of #MeToo?) "VR gaggles"? Squawking groups seen only through the lens of Fox News? "Vapor fare"? (a variant of technology's "vapor ware", for software promises) for the illusion of satisfying political content? Or perhaps we should see this as part of a long tradition of casting entertainers as political leaders - Reagan, Schwarzenegger, Sonny Bono, Donald Trump? Should we go back to Plato's cave, and call them shadows? There has to be a way of responding without giving them the honor of a full NY Times expose´.
laguna greg (guess where, CA)
@we Tp- that's also how they used to sell cars, both new and used. It didn't work very well then either.
Woodsy (Boston)
What is it with all these self identified demographic groupings now? Incels, White Nationals, White Women for Trump, now Jexodus? And OF COURSE they all belong to the GOP....I remember when I was 23. I still had a lot to learn, and that included me learning about me. But now, i guess when the young are trying to project the slickest, most exciting social media profiles they can, it inevitably means belonging to some polarizing group as well.
John Xavier III (Manhattan)
The disproportionate life-long devotion of the vast majority of Jewish people to the Democratic Party is an enduring mystery analogous to the devotion of African Americans to the same party. Both defy logic. If I were Jewish or black, would I not want significant representation in both parties? Why be on the outs half the time? Makes no sense, unless thought is not involved.
Leah (Tel Aviv)
But then, why would I want representation in a party that clearly hates my identity?
Michael Feeley (Honolulu)
The percentage of Jews in the Democratic Party is about the same as old white males in the Republican Party. Seems like you might like to analyze your own voting bloc before you project on mine.
penney albany (berkeley CA)
Progressive Democrats have always had a problem with Israel/Palestine. While claiming to support justice for everyone, they leave out Palestinians. There is a name for it :PEP. Progressive except Palestine.
Jenna (CA)
Dear lord, this is one of the dumbest ideas I've heard in a long time. Sure, some American Jews are Republicans or will vote Republican, but to treat Jewish allegiance to the Democratic party as some kind of passing fancy (as opposed to being based in an alignment of principles, causes, and values) just reveals how shallow and transactional Republicans and Trump are in their own political beliefs. Personally, as an American Jew, I find it incredibly insulting every time Trump asserts that Democrats are anti-Semitic because of their criticism of Israel, but also that Republicans are inherently supportive of Jews because of their support of Israel. I know the argument is mostly whether being anti-Israel is anti-Semitic, but can we at least establish that being PRO Israel does not equate to being PRO American Jews? After all, if Trump or this Pipko person actually cared about the interests of American Jews, they might 1. Seek to understand why they align overwhelmingly with the Democratic Party and 2. Stand up against white supremacists who have literally slaughtered some of our brothers and sisters in the past year.
Melissa M. (Saginaw, MI)
I feel that party affiliation should be based on ideas not identity. The dems don't own the women or the Jews or the Hispanics or the African Americans. Identity politics is corosive and is leading to deep divisions in this country.
Michal (United States)
The faction formerly known as the Democratic Party has become unrecognizable. They no longer represent our interests, nor the best interests of the American citizenry. So, despite the fact that we’ve been ‘lifelong’ Democrats...as an expression of protest and disapproval, we will NOT be voting for the Democratic nominee in the next presidential election. Hopefully, millions of other disillusioned Democrats and independents will follow suit.
Ran (NYC)
It takes a real genius to hop on a train just as it’s about to go off the rails.

I visit Israel every year. The majority of Isarelis don't care whether the embassy is in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. It's just a building. Perhaps Trump wanted the beach front property for a real estate deal.
Galfrido (PA)
Propaganda comes in many forms these days, including, now, swimsuits.
Joe Yoh (Brooklyn)
Many of my Jewish friends have proudly and loudly supported Dems for years, but are now torn and feeling betrayed. The liberal radical left, and its anti-Semitic, Lu Farrakhan hugging mobs are scaring them.
Al Singer (Upstate NY)
At every turn the media needs to break down the stereotypes and generalizations pandered by political parties. As a Jewish born in America I harbored strong feelings for Israel in their early quest for statehood, but have soured on their conservative governments and their extreme policies. Does that make me anti-semitic? And no I don't sense American Jews are abandoning the Democratic Party. I have a hard time believing that any one with religious views tied to Judeo-Christian values can conflate these values with Conservative values, especially those of the vulgar narcissist in the WH.
Candlewick (Ubiquitous Drive)
Ms. Pipko may want to reacquaint herself with the story of the Exodus: Moses and crew got stuck wondering in the wilderness 40 years for being disobedient; even built a pagan god and those who left with Moses died except for two: Is Ms. Pipko really advocating Jews follow the false god of Trump?
RER (Mission Viejo Ca)
The mob that Trump characterized as good people were chanting "Jews will not replace us." Does anyone really believe Trumps interest in Israel extends beyond cheap politics?

Last nite on Israeli TV Mike Pompeo was interviewed. After the election there will be a Peace Plan propoed by Trump. She asked a couple of times if this meant 2 State solution .He would not say.Anyway imagine if it is a Solid proposal Nobel prize For Trump and many Jews happy with him.

Quite frankly, the only reason anyone listens or even pays attention to this woman's foolishness is her good looks. It may be a sexist comment. Nevertheless, her argument ignore decades of virulent anti-Semitism within the Republican Party and it's current cultivation of nativist voters

Am I the only one uncomfortable by the word "Jexodus?"
Citixen (NYC)
If Jewish people already weren’t taking Trump seriously (or are horrified by him), and voting Dem anyway, I fail to see why either a few contrarian voices in the DNC, or a shallow, 20-something, former GOP campaign staffer, should suddenly throw them into paroxysms of fear. Everybody just get a grip and keep your eyes on the prize! Democrats have the same problems with the current Israeli government as large majorities of American Jews do. But no way are Dems going to ‘abandon’ Israel.
Jenifer (Issaquah)
I don't really understand this. Do Republicans really believe that Jewish people in American are suddenly going to decide they have no values or morals? That a swimsuit model is going to turn the heads of people who are steeped in Jewish tradition? Outside of gifts to Bibi the Republicans offer nothing to Jews. I guess we can expect lots of attack ads featuring a freshmen Congresswoman with a hijab. Their call to Jews will be about fear. It's always about fear. Be very afraid of Democrats because they hate you will be the message.
Art MacPherson (New Hampshire)
@Jenifer Did you mean to write, “Be very afraid of Republicans”?
Mark Shyres (Laguna Beach, CA)
@Art MacPherson No, I think Jenifer got it. Then again, maybe you are both right. Then again I could be wrong.
Christopher Arend (California)
@Jenifer : Your belief that supporting Republicans means that a person has no values or morals is yet another example of the self-righteous attitude on the political left that precludes rational, civil debate.
Candlewick (Ubiquitous Drive)
So much could be said about this 23 year old Influencer; but far too much has already been said. "She" is not front-page news. How about the Style Section or better yet- let someone else carry her water-bottle.
Carol (Lafayette IN)
I am not reading this. I don't know why you keep promoting these type of people. More Huntley and Brinkley please and less whatever this is.
GP (NY)
She is the Tomi Lahren for the Jewish community, like the two black ladies whom I can't remember the names right now, big supporters of Trump and also they have been in Fox News. Soon we will see a Latino young woman, YouTube celebrity talking bad about Democrats in Fox News. People are willing to do anything for money cause at the end it is all about money.
Tony Reardon (California)
My last pet kitten was an "international model" on social media
Anne C (Denver)
She sounds like another GOP grifter. These people are constantly in search of running a con on the gulliable.
Kraig (Los Angeles, CA)
Trump moved the US Embassy to Jerusalem, cancelled the Iran nuclear deal, said nothing about the expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank and now has declared the Golan Heights a part of Israel. I would say those are all very strong pro Israel actions. This reminds me of the Southern Stategy and Republicans remain in power after 40 years. Democrats who refuse to take "Jexodus" seriously at their own peril.
April May (Midwest)
Dear NY Times, Perhaps there is a yet-unpublicized movement whereby Americans are leaving the Republican party because it is evident that GOP policies make most Americans: Sicker Poorer & Less secure Again... Sicker Poorer & Less secure So obvious it doesn't even need a less-than-clever portmanteau.
Shaun Narine (Fredericton, Canada)
This entire idea of "Jexodus" is based on the supposition that Jewish Americans care (or should care) about one thing only: loyalty to Israel. What is striking is that this seems to be an exact reflection of the "anti-Semitic" trope that Jews have "dual loyalties" except here, the person making that assumption is Jewish. This assumption of "dual loyalties" is the same idea that motivates American politicians of every stripe to go to Jewish communities and pledge undying support for Israel. So, it's a curious thing: Ilhan Omar is attacked for supposedly alluding to something that most American politicians -and Ms. Pipko - implicitly believe. After all, it makes no sense for a politician to make policies that "support" Israel so important to their pitch to the Jewish community if they did not believe it would affect the community's vote. The bizarre thing here is that it is obvious that many Jewish Americans (though not the majority) do, indeed, care about Israel and it decides or influences their vote. This is basically the same as every other ethnic group (like Cuban or Chinese Americans) who care about a foreign country and make it a major factor in their political decisions. But because of its supposed connection to anti-Semitism, making this obvious point is taboo. This stifles the ability to have honest discussions about Israel and its influence in US politics. I doubt many Jewish Americans will leave the Dems to support Trump, but the supposition they should is telling.
LL (Madison)
Stories like this concern me-the recruitment of millenial/gen Z models to be the face of of a far right movement and undermine the real anti-poverty, anti-oppression work that most Jews work towards and believe in. However, I am surprised that a news story in NYTimes, not in the editorial section, has so much snark and author voice. The comment about "Jassover" needed to be cut and left on the editing room floor. Remain an actual newspaper- or Breitbart will have real reason to criticize.
SCZ (Indpls)
Something about Ms. Pipko reminds me of both Dana Loesch, the NRA hit woman - and Lori Loughlin's daughter, Olivia Jade. And maybe some of Ivanka is in there as well. She's a social media "influencer" whose career path is to market the heck out of everything about herself: first her groomed-to-death looks, then her religion, and now her politics. The new twist, of course, is how she is literally MARKETING her Judaism and her Republicanism. She makes them seem as if they are just another lifestyle choice, a new and expensive accessory, something like a Gucci bag. Ms Pipko's disingenuous tone assures us that she will be laughing all the way to the bank. Meanwhile, look for her YouTube video program on how to dress for the Jexodus - and where to stay.
Lisa Silverman (Phoenix)
As noted by the author of this article, the story of the Exodus is one of the most inspiring narratives we Jewish people have and one that I hold dear. To take this most sacred tale and reduce it to a stupid advertising ploy to gain votes for Trump will, I hope, backfire. And, I for one, am a life-long democrat devoted to the party's progressive values, and there is no chance that an Instagram model is going to change my mind. I wish I could understand the Jewish people who do support Trump and his fascist style of government, though, he and his administration are antithetical to everything that I, as a Jew, hold dear.
S. C. (Mclean, VA)
So many Jews who are lifelong democrat have said "we can't walk away from this president, because he has been an incredibly supporter of Israel".
Charlie (Saint Paul, Mn)
Sickening how republicans try to tie Jews leaving the Democratic Party to the Exodus from Egypt. The Torah reminds Jews to be kind to the strangers who live among them since they were once strangers in a Egypt. Kindness is not a Republican virtue.
Progers9 (Brooklyn)
1984 is alive and well. Same MO, attack opponents strength with new propaganda. Insert pretty face with no intellectual pedigree. inflammatory language followed by why are you attacking this young vulnerable woman. America we are being played. Get this tyrant out of office.
yoloswag (usa)
I'm of Jewish heritage. I have never voted for a republican, nor could I ever debase myself and do so. Republicans may do well to study the Jewish tenet of "tikkun olam".
HT (NYC)
She looks perfect for Trumpism. You go girl.
Susan Miller (Chicago)
Correct, go
Dominic Holland (San Diego)
So, an utterly and obviously stupid and false idea with a shiny new name takes off, with the help of a political mind (what else?) in sexy swimsuits. This reflects positively on whom?
Cih53
That poor girl is giving millennials a bad name.
Louise F. Kowitch (Bonita Springs, Florida)
The Jewish version of AOC...a pretty face promoting an ideology that plays to the base.
DR (New England)
@Louise F. Kowitch - AOC actually knows something about policy. She's bright, principled and cares about other people. No comparison to this twit whatsoever.
George Gu (Brooklyn, NY)
I doubt a pretty face will convince the Jewish people to join the GOP. If this is what the GOP has the resort to, they are a lot of desperate than I think they are already
Peter Blau (NY Metro)
There is something incredibly sexist about the headline: just because a young woman is attractive, that means she is an air head. Had the writer of this piece been a man, we'd be hearing complaints about this to no end. Especially if Ms. Pipko had made her cable new debut on "Morning Joe" instead of "Fox & Friends."
Snarky (Maryland)
Not sure who this woman is but I she is quite naive. Sure the Dems have their disagreement with the NATION of Israel NOT the religion. If any Jewish person thinks a fox-watching devotee actually cares about them a serious head check is in order. Over my many years I've been within earshot of several conversations from these fox devotees and heard things that would make satan blush.
Curtis Hinsley (Sedona, AZ)
So it goes.
The Black Millennial (Georgia)
How frighteningly disingenuous! Donald Trump affirmed white supremacists who chanted “Jews will not replace us,” and said they were “good people.” A Jewish Trump supporter is just as funny, misguided, and terrifying as a Black Trump supporter. Some things are honestly bigger than politics. Ms. Pipko is an opportunist of the Candace Owens variety, and it is so sad that our reality TV and Instagram focused culture have allowed these personalities to flourish. They’re playing a dangerous game just to make a quick buck. The Republican Party is normalizing fascism with smoke and mirrors, and I am genuinely terrified for the world that the so-called “mature adults/gatekeepers” are leaving us idealistic, know-nothing millennials.
77ads77 (Dana Point)
Clearly, Israel is 100% aligned with trump and his base. It is now up to Jewish Americans to take sides.
Susan Miller (Chicago)
I would say Netanyahu, not Israel.
Lisa (CA)
Our president called a group of white supremacists chanting "Jews will not replace us" a group of very fine people. David Duke supports this president and the Republican Party. If you're Jewish and you're okay with the blind eye that our president, and the party that condones him, constantly turn to white supremacy...then have at it.
kgeographer (Colorado)
Sincere question: if this proponent of "Jexodus" were not a swimsuit model, would you give this front page play, acting as a megaphone for a Fox News ploy to de-stabilize Democratic Party and progressive politics. This society is in a descent from which I believe there is no return. Rule by a cynical minority that is more clever about communications, social media, and manipulating the discourse generally, than progressives will ever be.
Jim (California)
More evidence that Trump's announcement about the Golan is merely a ploy to con Jewish voters who rationally vote Democratic move to Trump's GOP. Trump's decades long history of reneging on promises should tell the intelligent his is not to be trusted.
Valerie (Toronto)
Good thing they changed the name. "Jexodus" sounds young, hip and cool. "The Exodus Movement" sounds bland, old and tired. Far more on-point for the GOP brand.
memorious (NYC)
Can we not give a megaphone to self promoting hashtaggers? "Jexit" is not a thing. This woman is manipulating the press into giving her a platform. Just ignore her. I know it's hard to ignore a photogenic person espousing controversial garbage, but just do it. Please. She'll go away. Her message does not resonate with her target, American Jews. Practicing Jews are overwhelmingly proponents of tikkun olam. The perhaps larger tranche of secular Jews are educated, often philosophical and reflective, and proudly ethical. There will always be a minority of us who aren't these things. But they remain, for the foreseeable future, a minority.
Michael Richter (Ridgefield, CT)
@memorious Thank you. Very well expressed and very true. Ms. Piko should do an exodus of her own and go back to selling swim suits.
NYTimes Reader (Connecticut)
@memorious Agreed: Elizabeth Pipko is the latest version of the Candace Owens Narcissistic Syndrome persona. Yes, I think it's a "thing" now. Peace
Stephen (Kentucky)
@memorious 100% agreed. This is a concept that applies to not only this issue but all others. Looking at you Tomi Lahren.
Rain (NJ)
This president will embrace any pretty face willing to promote his dogma.
Mej (NYC)
What is it exactly that Ms. Pipko wants "to educate people" about? "Jexodus" is an offensive attempt to foster and brand dissent among Democrats.
nom de guerre (Kirkwood, MO)
Hahaha, who cares about some would be "influencer"? I don't know a single Jew who supports Trump. Most don't support any republican after witnessing Congressional republicans deafening silence in response to Trump's catastrophic actions.
JackC5 (Los Angeles Co., CA)
This seems way overdue. Democrats and the Left are de-facto anti-Israel. The BDS movement is of the left, and the left (which hates traditional religion) runs the Democratic Party. It's hard to see why a traditional religious person of any variety would affiliate with the Democrats.
Lisa (NYC)
What exactly does Ms. Pipko want to educate people in? I am a white Christian and this movement makes me frightened. I cannot imagine what the average Jewish person must feel. A president who clearly has strange bedfellows; Neo-Nazis on one side and the far right Jewish lobby on the other! Shame on Netanyahu as he continues to peddle in American discord that he has no business involving himself in.
Athena (The Borderland)
Here on the border the local diocese takes out full-page newspaper ads before every election saying, essentially, that you can’t be Catholic and vote for Democratic candidates, because abortion. Now a resume-padding former swimsuit model (the way to credibility as a woman now, apparently) says real Jews can’t be Democrats, because—what, really? Embassy in Jerusalem? Muslims in Congress? In the good old days, like 2 years ago, any American could be expected to have any personal opinions on any issue. None of this pick “one side” and be all in for Trump or you are the enemy. It seems like a kind of jingoism, so blatantly anti-American and even stupid. But I worry about this kind of attitude being normalized and spread.
CPMariner (Florida)
@Athena You're not alone in your worry.
Mathias (NORCAL)
It’s already normalized. We have to fight it.
Aaron Michelson (Illinois)
As a Jew, I felt I had to leave the anti-semitism of the far left years ago. Democrats are just too passive about excluding snakes into the party, as we are seeing even more nowadays. However, why would I even consider being a conservative or Republican? Why simply join the other side? Being independent is the only thing that makes sense to me. Neither side is all good or bad but tribalism is never good for any group.
WPLMMT (New York City)
It appears this woman is trying to promote herself and her career. Who really cares whether she is a Democrat or Republican. She will be forgotten in no time.
Robert (Out West)
Nice try on papering over the obvious fact that she’s a Trumpist, but the whole point is that she’s trying to talk Jews into becoming Trumpists. Pretty ineptly, too, which is what you’d expect.
Piney (NYC)
Sowing discord among Jews and Democrats happens to be good strategy for Trump and Friends. Though I could never vote for Trump for many reasons, Rep. Omar, other Muslims in Congress, and Muslim leadership have not truly convinced me that she/(they?) are not anti-Semitic. I'm disappointed more than anything else, though I also feel foolish and used for my "Pollyanna-ish" support of her, while Democrats try to sweep this issue under the rug by "condemning all hate." Sorry. Not enough. This is not going away, but our chances of winning in 2020, might.
Dan (NJ)
Ah, 23 year old Ms. Pipko. Another young woman selected for obvious reasons (beautiful yes, but moreso gullible; she's been quoted as being impressed by Trump's "honesty") and used by the Donald. She even got married at Mar a Lago! Hope trading pride for sleazy money was with it.
Jim Brokaw (California)
This poor woman hasn't been paying attention to what happens to people who get too close to Trump... well, she's got a great career prospect at Fox "News". She'll fit right in there... just stay out of reach of the male executives and pundits...
John Doe (Johnstown)
Trump really thinks moving the Embassy to Jerusalem matters to a present day American Jew? My wife is a Jew and we have nieces and nephews living in Tel Aviv who describe it as a modern teeming metropolis in touch with and representative of the present world. What normal person today thinks an old crumbling wall of tears matters for anything anymore? Not every Jew wants to return to the dark ages.
YW (New York, NY)
WEST Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Israel. It is on land that has been part of Israel since 1948. Who disputes that? Answer: Ilhan Omar and others who see a conspiracy behind every problem with Israel and exclusively deny Jews the right to self-determination. It is not hard to see the problems in Trump and the Republicans on many issues, but on this they are right. It's that simple.
Robert (Out West)
I dispute it as well. Because that declaration was stupid.
LisaD (NYC)
social safety net universal health care proc choice equal rights for all quality public education the absence of church and religion in public school social security marry who you love. vs all of the last 80 years GOP platform. I am not leaving the democratic party. I will always be a rational Zionist who believes in a two-state solution. I do not see the GOP as the place for me. I am not exiting..
Andy Makar (Hoodsport WA)
Well, beware the elephant putting its nose under the tent. The ardent evangelical supporters for right wing Israeli policies are not doing it to preserve the Jewish religion. They are doing it because they are convinced that the ensuing anarchy will drive their Jewish brethren to accept Christ. The Jewish side of this equation seems to be fine with this deal because they think they can milk political and monetary support from the rubes and leave the rest in the dustbin. Both sides are equally craven. I actually am a believing Christian. But I do not see the Gospel as requiring me to engineer the Apocalypse in order to evangelize.
Meadowlark Lemmy (On Rocinante, wheeling through galaxies.)
Because Jared & Don are intimate financial friends with Saudi Arabia & Qatar? Makes sense to me ..
OY (NYC)
hahaahha I really love this, it's like Armando Iannucci wrote it. But really think about how instructive it is: for people without imagination or empathy, the limit of their ability to suppose the motivations of others is what would motivate themselves. Here we see a deep fundamental misunderstanding of an issue (why Jews are Democrats), no effort to correct that understanding, and an effort via falsehoods, a fake celebrity, and an attempt at cult of personality influence (I thought the GOP hated celebrities) to defraud people into opposing their own interests. You can pick up that framework and put it down on any number of GOP efforts (voting, for example, or the charade of minority outreach via Omarosa and others). The really sad thing is that some of them think this could be successful at all...they'd have more luck marketing bacon at the wailing wall.
Bob (Hudson Valley)
Why would Jews support a party that has made white nationalists an important part of its political base? It is the Democratic Party that supports liberal democracy and tolerance. If anything is a no-brainer it is for Jews to support the Democratic Party and reject the Republicans.
corvid (Bellingham, WA)
Jews moving en masse to a party that has fully embraced white supremacy? Sure, makes perfect sense. No doubt African Americans and Native Americans won't be far behind. That is, if Stockholm syndrome becomes a national epidemic.
Benjamin Loeb (Davenport, Iowa)
This should be a nightmare for Jewish people everywhere. Rather than be united on our goal of Tikkun Olam and the posterity of our Jewish people, we are being divided internally. Call me cynical, but this makes us easier to conquer.
JJ Gross (Jeruslem)
"Mr. Gorka declined to be interviewed. “I will not assist a publication clearly dedicated to a monomaniacal political agenda of undermining the duly elected president of the United States,” he said in an email." Mr. Gorka is so right -- this article being a classic case in point, especially when it has the temerity to state that Donald Trump traffics in anti-Semitic tropes.
Mark Allard (Powell, Ohio)
Three words best describe Ms Pipko: “Shrill Mouthpiece Huckster”.
Hb (Michigan)
There have been many fine Jewish statesmen in this country’s history. My state had two brothers, the Levins. If Jewish Americans have collectively lost their minds and wish to follow a grifter and a conn man like Bibi and Trump I say good day and good riddance. I’ll still vote for Bernie.
AutumnLeaf (Manhattan)
‘Jexodus — there is no evidence that any such thing is occurring’ That is like the wolf telling the sheep that there is no danger at all. It’s happening, and you know it’s happening. But somehow you think that if you write that it is not happening, it will simply go away. The NYT has a bad habit of watching things and denying they exist, then acting surprised and unconcerned when they surface. It’s happening, take it from people with Jewish families who have washed their hands from the Democratic party and from Omar and her friends who have shown anti-semitism in the house. Please act surprised on election day, otherwise you will haver to admit that you knew about it and denied it.
Sage (California)
Doubt that her efforts to inspire a 'Jexodus' to the GOP will bear much fruit unless you are a wealthy libertarian who loathes paying your fair share. Otherwise, the Democratic Party--with all of its faults--will continue to enjoy a large percentage of Jewish votes.
Rick F (DC)
Clearly she's trying for her 15 minutes of fame in the world for whenever her Instagramming fizziles. And why even try to interview Gorka? Every time he opens his mouth or sends an email he reinforces the fact that he's nothing more than a Trump apologist and pompous twit. Given his background and extremist views why give him any national attention?
EJS (Granite City, Illinois)
You can bet that Ms. Pipko’s “racy swimsuit and lingerie modeling shots” will see lots of traffic in the next few days. She thanks the NY Times for helping make her an “influencer.”
MCH (FL)
This Jew, me, gives no quarter to the Democrat Party who increasingly express, if not condone, antagonism towards Israel. And lest we forget how Omar and Tlaib cozy up to the likes of Louis Farrakhan who calls "termites" . My wife, a lifelong and 3d generation Democrat whose Dad interned at the FDA White House, converted to the Republican Party in 2016. Hallelujah! I hope other Jews wake up and do the same. Best wishes to Ms. Pipko!
John Doe (Johnstown)
Just when we thought politics couldn't get anymore insane along comes this story, only half in part because we're really supposed to believe the Red Sea parted and the other half being that a swimsuit model is the one doing it. I know only one Jew who's anything even close to being a Republican and that's only economically because he studied finance at the University of Chicago with Milton Freedman. Otherwise, LOL.
al (NJ)
Foxnews? that's all you need to know.
Dr. Sam Rosenblum (Palestine)
Jews are a very small minority of the US population and even if every one of them were to vote as block, it would make little or no difference in a National election. to continue to focus on the Jewish importance in elections only adds fuel to the Anti-Semitic charges of Jewish control of press, bank and politics.
Sharon (Miami Beach)
@Dr. Sam Rosenblum, Jews are a small % of the population, but they are concentrated in certain geographic areas, especially in states with many Electoral College votes (NY, CA, FL, MI)
Ken (Westport, CT)
If you ever wanted to designate something as Fake News, this is a strong candidate. Today's Republican party epitomizes literally none of the values that distinguish and imbue American Jewish values and culture. In fact, the cowards now running the Republican party have lost touch with American values. So maybe there are havens out there for disheartened Democrats, but the Republican party? Please.
Greg Gearn (Altadena, CA)
A non-issue promoted by a very pretty woman with a fluffed-up background used an attention-getting, anger-provoking issue to distract and divide American voters published by a top news source reminds me of the 2016 election. The only question is why the media still covers this stuff like it’s news and not propaganda.
EB (London)
So what’s new? Another Republican grifter using controversy and Trump to get rich and famous. Question is, why does this business model appeal to so many Republicans? What values are these people raised with?
Pottree (Joshua Tree)
A: Ayn Rand level selfishness and the elevation of money to the staus of a false god, stirred with a dose of paranoia. thu don't have mothers, they have brokers.
Jeff K (Vermont)
Why not cut to the core.....it's a 'sexodus'! The fascination of today's underwear-observers with laser chasing cats, stupid human behavior and vapid models who speak of things not known is really scary. Substituting intellect and education for laughs, trolling and titillation is especially troubling. Giving it more oxygen than it deserves is a guarantee that our Fauntleroy-in-chief and his manipulators-in-waiting will mainline it.
mjbarr (Burdett, NY)
Thanks to the NYT to add a couple of minutes of extra fame to this nobody.
Ben (Boston. MA)
We've seen this dance before with white voters in the midwest: (i) exploit the anger of a group that feels wronged to get votes (ii) after the election, do nothing that materially helps this group. Repeat step (i). It worked brilliantly in 2016, aided by a pre-existing cultural divide, sexism, and racism. The voters in question were unfortunately in position to sway key electoral college votes. The impact here will be much smaller, but Democrats should still not underestimate the Divide-and-Do-Nothing Two Step.
Mike (New Haven, CT)
Not to be pedantic, but Exodus refers specifically the flight of the Israelites from Egypt. So "Jexodus" meaning a Jewish exodus makes as much sense as "Jom Kippur" meaning Jewish Yom Kippur or "Jaliyah" meaning Jewish Aliyah. But I would not expect much intellectual rigor from the Jexodus campaign.
paul (St louis)
So Repubs are trying to get American Jews to vote for them because Dems are not pro-Israel enough? So Omar was right-- she is getting pressure to support Israel. But it's from Republicans. Of course, the biggest pro-Israel lobby is from fundamentalist Christians, who believe that the end of the world can only happen after Israel wipes out all Palestinians and tears down the Dome of the Rock and rebuilds the Temple of Solomon.
Pottree (Joshua Tree)
American evangelicals are free to believe anything they want, and also to coerce our government to act on their beliefs. not so other segments of our society. why? they have numbers, especially in rural states which have oversized power in Congress and the Electoral College, and because their various demoninatioms are authoritarian, so the flocks vote as they've told, convinced it is the will of God. from where I stand, most of their positions are based on blind faith, gullibility, and ignorance. this ploy to encourage American Jews to desert the Democratic Party and become Republicans will not work, and its sponsors don't even understand why.
paul (St louis)
@Pottree I agree. I think the issue is not to attract American Jews, but to assuage "moderate" Christians that the Republicans are not racist anti-Semites, by showing how much they support Israel. Ironically, the goal of their support of Israel is to eventually wipe out all Jews with the 2nd Coming of Christ, but they don't want to say that so they don't come off as crazy. Just like "Blacks for Trump" is not about getting more than 5% of Blacks to vote for Trump, but about convincing idiots that Trump really isn't a racist. Their audience is NOT minorities (Jews, Women, Blacks...), but moderates.
Virgil Starkwell (New York)
It's hard to imagine how Jews could embrace the GOP when its leader refuses to disavow White Supremacist movements, with its blatant anti-Semitic expression. He uses their language (as in 'invasion'), and his party remains silent in the face of a tidal wave of anti-Semitism across the country and the world. It's hard to imagine, but the one explanatory factor that makes this frighteningly real is the racial overtones of the recent discourse.
Pini (Brooklyn)
Both of my parents are Holocaust Survivors and both told me that the Democratic Party it's good for us Jews to survive. Since President Obama's infamous picture talking to Israeli Prime Minister with his shoes on the table, I started to feel that the Democratic party is getting dangerous for us. Later on electing the top DNC with Farrakhan connections and all of those that's going on today I'm not supposed to talk much about. It's time for the Jews to exodus to the moderate Republican party
Dr. Girl (Midwest)
The moderate Republican Party? Which one would that be? Trump, the party head believes that the kkk & neo-nazis are good people too. People aren’t going to leave the Democratic Party over a dead Luis Farrakhan connection, unless there are bigger issues than that, and republicans aren’t leaving the GOP over Trump’s friendship to David Duke.
PeterH (left side of mountain)
hot swimsuit model goes political: what could go wrong?
David R (Kent, CT)
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em? Can you really just filter out everything else and go with what you like? Really?
Corbin (Minneapolis)
Why anyone, but especially a community and culture that has been targeted for persecution for centuries would want to align themselves with the political party that is lead by a fascist-style leader is completely beyond me. Remember what they were chanting at Charlottesville? He picks on Muslims and Mexicans today, but who will be blamed for the nation’s problems tomorrow? History gives us clues...
Glen (Texas)
Sorry, I find those who are infatuated with themselves boring in the extreme, tedious (but I guess that's redundant, and, like the most self-admiring person we know, ignorant.
LS (Maine)
Is this a parody? On first reading, I thought so. Just another person looking for her 15 minutes.....
Robert (Forgotten Borough)
Please check her Instagram out. She had her wedding at Mar-a-Lago. Leader of the Jexodus movement give me a break she has a clear connection to Trump. I cant stop laughing. It almost like Ramses Led the exodos from Egypt.
Richard Lerner (USA)
The Republican brain trust latest brilliant idea: Let's pair a Jewish swimsuit model with white supremacists. I don't think it's going to work. What would work? Perhaps a president willing to condemn anti-Semites, who promotes policies that reflect the mandated Jewish concern for the widow, the orphan, and the stranger among us.
Momchaim (Miami)
She is self-serving and naive. Not to mention disingenuous. Harvard Extension is not the same as Harvard. Most die-hard Democrats (myself included) will not leave the party, especially not on the recommendation of a 23 -year-old skater/poet/aide/model/trumpette. Wow, she's done all that at 23?? There will be no exodus (or even Jexodus) leaving the party, Moishe Pipik. You're forgiven for your transgressions, after all you are only 23 and still growing your brain.
ladps89 (Morristown, N.J.)
Reality TV gets interestinger.

Michelle Neumann (long island)
if this isn’t enough for the FCC to relabel Fox “news” as Fox “ENTERTAINMENT” i don’t know what would be
Sharon (Miami Beach)
I can see where this is going... Trump wins in 2020; the talking heads declare, "Trump Cruises to Another 4 Years; Jewish Vote Instrumental in Win" - unleashing worldwide condemnation of Jews and a "justified" anti-Semitism. Not good, not good at all. Ms. Pipko and this so-called "movement" needs to go away.
Naomi (New England)
Sure, because supporting right wing megalomaniac populists always works out SO well for us...
Boethius (Corpus Christi, Texas)
More religious hucksterism from the right... This is the legacy of Jerry Falwell and the moral majority. Unreal and apocalyptic.
Ran (NYC)
So now that the rest of the country is moving farther and farther away from Trump somebody thought it was a good idea for Jews to get closer to him? I don’t think so.
Robert (Forgotten Borough)
As American Secular Jew who has contacts with the Jewish community throughout Staten Island, Brooklyn, and NJ, there is a vast divide between the Jewish community. If you are an American secular Jew you despise Trump and what the Republic party has become, but I notice if you are Israeli or Jew from a former Soviet Republic you tend to love Trump. Elizabeth clearly has strong connections to Israel with Hebrew on her Instagram. Most American Jews have never been to Israel, and cannot read or speak Hebrew. With Mike Pompeo's statement "Trump was sent here from GOD to protest the Jewish state" is not trying to get more votes from the Jewish community but this statement is clearly for the Evangelical community. The Evangelic community does not care about the Jewish community, they just think in order for JESUS to return the land of Israel must be in the hand of the Jews.
CarolSon (Richmond VA)
Why exactly why a Jew leave the Democratic party to vote for a party that thinks there's fine people in White supremacy groups? I daresay anything the young Muslim Congresswoman says in public pales next to the marching young men, dressed like Donald Trump, chanting "Jews will not replace us"? What does the international model think of them? Good dating material? Could it have anything to do with that tax cut that doesn't help anyone except the wealthy?
Holly (Florida)
Pipko...remember Charlottesville? "Very fine people..."
WesTex (Fort Stockton TX)
I think people confuse "support for Israel" with "support for whichever party is in power in Israel."
Alfie (San Francisco)
I love it when any ridiculous person with no credentials sets up the universe agenda...
Mrs. Cat (USA)
I was not aware that the Democratic Party practiced slavery. Neither was I aware that being a member of the Republican Party conveyed an automatic absence of anti-Semitism. Thank you, Exodus Movement, for clearing this up.
Michael (Brooklyn)
As an ethnic Jew, no presidency has made me more afraid for my family's safety. So I will not be taking the "Jexodus" bait.
Greg (Tannersville, NY)
American Jewish voters who voted Democratic and are now considering abandoning the Democratic party because Congressional Democrats didn't sufficiently punish one of their Muslim members for remarks about American Jews and Israel which are, at best insensitive, and at worst, anti-Semitic, need to take a moment and consider who poses the greater danger: a first term Congresswoman or Donald Trump. We are, rightly so, highly sensitized to any hint of an anti-Semitic comment, and quick to respond. Our responses have been public education, debate, and action. On the other hand, Trump has intentionally unleashed hundreds of acts of hatred against the 'others', including Jews, by his comments about Mexicans, Muslims, immigrants and any one else he targets and his fanatical refusal to condemn such acts. His clear message is that violence against the 'others' will be tolerated, and indeed, encouraged. Not just in America but around the world. I support Israel, but support for Israel is not the only, or even the number one contentious issue we need to consider. Climate change, the Supreme Court, education, health care, wealth inequality, living wage jobs, taxes. Those 70 plus per cent of American Jewish voters supported the Democratic candidates for many reasons, and must do so again in 2020. The Michigan Congresswoman has the right to speak her mind, and we, as Americans, have the right to respond. In Trump's Amerika, especially a second term, all of our voices will be silenced.
WS (Long Island, NY)
Was this 23 year old former Trump campaign aide and "poet" ever a Democrat? I don't see that indicated anywhere. If not, she's not really qualified to lead an "exodus".
Newport Iggy (Los Ángeles)
The international left has long been anti-Israel and in many cases anti-Semitic. Those views are now infecting the left in our country. What’s worse, far left leaders in the US and abroad don’t bother to hide their anti Semitism. However, the alternative to the increasingly leftist Democratic Party is not the far right Trump controlled GOP. Surely, the center right and the center right provide good ideological homes to Jews disenchanted with both parties. However, I recognize that no political party in the United States occupies this middle ground.
Soquelly (France)
Trump does not care that something is wrong, as long as it destroys bipartisanship. Trump is fighting for his life, scorched earth is all he knows, and he must be highly motivated to stay in office as long as possible — not for any healthy reason, but to stay out of prison.
ChristineMcM (Massachusetts)
This has to be the sickest campaign yet waged by a president who will do anything, including selling out his country, to win the election. This woman is just a symbol of the diabolical system that the GOP has set up, backed by state propaganda TV, to maintain power. The quote, "how very Trump" couldn't be better said. I'm not Jewish, but as a Democrat, I sure hope this campaign to malign all Democrats as anti-Semitic, gets continually exposed for the cynical ploy it is. The malign co-mingling of politics with religion and foreign policy is the most shameful Trump political "strategy yet. " This country has never been in worse shape than now: and yet, given the players, I suspect we haven't hit bottom yet. that said, the next stop is one party rule, which is what this GOP has been plotting for some time.
Paco (Santa Barbara)
Actually, this country was in worse shape during the Civil War. Also, it was in worse shape during the Jim Crow era if you were black or cared about equality under the law.
Marta Middleton (Swarthmore, PA)
The less attention we give this person, the better. I will deliberately not mention the name.
Ken (St. Louis)
Poor misguided Ms Pipko: one more Trumpian who's got a lot to learn about inclusion, tolerance, and decency. Thankfully she's only 23 -- young enough to learn, via maturity and experience, that Trump is ideological poison, and that the correct thing to do is to turn her Jexodus around, back to the Democratic promised land. Should Ms Pipko remain captive to her present poor political preference, she'll eventually discover that she's stalled on a Pipkodus, in a dying movement called Trumpism.
kerricali (Los Angeles)
Claims by Trump to represent the viewpoint of all Jews is false. This young women's story isn't worthy of an article and only feeds this non-story. For me Trump is a dangerous bully. Period. Regardless of any policies he produces, his lack of empathy, cruelty and mocking cannot be ignored, and by default supported. I cannot respect anyone who thinks policy and results are more important than positive character values. As an elementary school teacher, it's easy to see our president's behavior doesn't meet school standards for citizenship. He is a harmful and unworthy role model. How can so many of our citizens trade this bully's behavior for supposed policy victories?
sedanchair (Seattle)
I wonder what it is about Elizabeth Pipko that possibly caught Trump's attention. It must be the clarity of her ideas.
Toby (DC)
A token player looking more for publicity for herself. Fox News can give her a contract as an opinionator.
Erin McLachlan (San Francisco, CA)
Perhaps, she is genuine, but I smell a for-profit/Trump media ploy here. As the article says [she] " is an object lesson in how an idea can migrate from a no-name messenger to the broad body politic, through the organ of Fox News and the megaphone of the president’s Twitter account." We are cleverly fooled into thinking that because someone says something, it has merit, is valid or matters. If we choose to give if life, then we further divide ourselves. Let's stay focused on science, education and our economy. Ms. Pipko can go get comfy on Fox and Friends, who cares.
Robert B (Brooklyn, NY)
The numbers for Trump and the GOP among American Jewish voters are far worse than indicated here. The real question as to Trump's unpopularity isn't what percentage of Jewish voters voted for Democrats, it’s the percentage of American Jewish voters refusing to vote for Trump. In 2016 while HRC received 71 percent of the Jewish vote, another 5 percent refused to vote for Trump, choosing a 3rd party candidate instead, meaning Trump received a mere 24 percent of the vote. Despite this Jexodus nonsense, and all the wonderful things Trump did for the Israeli Netanyahu Administration, Trump and the GOP's showing was nothing less than abysmal, falling to 17 percent, meaning they lost even more votes than the numbers here indicate, as another 4 percent refused to vote for Trump and voted for a 3rd party candidate on top of the 79 percent for Democrats. There are a lot of takeaways here. First is that a huge majority of American Jews regard Trump and GOP as toxic and anti-American, and the number continues to grow. Second, Jewish opposition to Trump is still increasing despite allegations of anti-Semitism in the Democratic Party. A final takeaway is as to the allegations of anti-Semitism against Ilhan Omar. It proves how wrong she is about Jewish "dual-loyalty" or "Benjamins". If she was correct, Trump’s support for the Netanyahu Administration should have caused his American Jewish support to rise dramatically, instead, despite already being terrible, it's fallen precipitously.
JEBBEJ (Maryland)
As an American Jew, I would just add VP PENCE to Montreal Moe’s statement.
Dan Stevenson (Lawrence, KS)
Her website says she "'took a year off from minoring in mathematics at Harvard to train for the Olympics in figure skating,' though her LinkedIn profile notes that she attends the Harvard Extension School, not Harvard College, and her skating career was derailed, she said Wednesday, by an injury when she was 15. Her poetry books . . . were self-published: 'Her skin was luscious, peachy clean. Her eyes a chocolate brown. Her smile full of life. The envy of her town.'” Perfect FOX and Trump material. She fits right in.
Elizabeth (Northville, NY)
Unfortunately for the new “Exodus” it is repurposing the brand name of a rightly maligned and discredited “pray away the gay” operation that went defunct in 2013 — after its own leader declared it to be ineffective and harmful. Oops.
Dodger Fan (Los Angeles)
Based on a reading of this article, the young lady is a fraud working for a campaign that assembles frauds. Reading the article, I found little substance regarding this young woman’s Judaism - knowledge, commitment, or background. Like the young woman running the Blexit campaign to induce blacks to leave the Democratic base, this is yet another jarring example of simple opportunism - by the GOP and of a young adult from a certain demographic who clearly demonstrates no level of critical thinking or knowledge. Another side show in today’s GOP carnival.
Hooper (Massachusetts)
Just goes to show that beauty and brains don't always go hand in hand.
Dave On 7th (New York City)
Not to bring the "law" into this, but unless Ms. Pipko has gone through a conversion, the fact that she is descended from a Jewish male, she would not be considered Jewish by any rabbi who isn't Reform. And we won't even get into how Reform Jews are seen by their more Orthodox co-religionists.
SuseG (Chester, PA)
Ms. Pipko and the two congresswomen have in common, youth, naivete, inexperience, and, unfortunately, easily accessible means to spread their ideas. Think a little deeper ladies. Also, there are plenty of Jewish Republicans, mostly those who agree with Trump's economic policies.
S T (NC)
The term “Jexodus” is so unutterably crass that everyone at a recent dinner roared when someone brought up seeing it in one of Trump’s tweets. But then, we are not a suitable “micro target” for this silly campaign. Intelligent Jews recognize that Israel - the country - is doing the wrong thing by ignoring international law and the international community; by continuing to build settlements on land that is not ours; by failing to make peace with our neighbors so that Israel and Palestine - yes, Palestinians are from Palestine - can live in friendship and security.
Steve Davies (Tampa, Fl.)
Identity politics, racialism, tribalism. nationalism, the cult-like nature of the Abrahamic sky father religions...all are dividers, and based on irrational, inaccurate, media-implanted versions of what our identities are made of. The end result is to reinforce ego, separation, and selfishness, enabling pandering demagogues like Trump and Bibi to cater to target demographics. It's ironic that Ilhan Omar and many others have questioned whether "American Jews" have more loyalty to the state of Israel than to the USA, and to peace itself. The Democratic Party hasn't been a part of true progressives since it got rid of Henry Wallace. But it remains the less-corrupt of the two major political parties, and at least is generally opposed to gestation slavery, corrupt white collar criminals in the White House, and the deliberate destruction of the biosphere. If people who believe they are "Jewish" don't like the progressive agenda and want to side with right-wing gangsters like The Donald, that's sad.
Ponsobny Britt (Frostbite Falls, MN.)
Is there even the slightest possibility she could be seen as an antidote of sorts for AOC? I will tell you what; I see her as just another hack for FOX News.
Pence (Sacramento)
Just when we needed another portmanteau to explain the central Republican plank: "We may not have any policies you agree with, but you should hate the other guys so much that you don't care."
Melinda Mueller (Canada)
Yeah, it makes perfect sense for the Jewish population to throw in with the “Jews will not replace us” crowd. So much easier than arguing the actual policies each political party promotes.
Elsa (Minneapolis, MN)
So this movement involves exactly one person, who is being paid by Trump. Yes, that sounds completely authentic and newsworthy. I know she's pretty, NYTimes, but do you have to fall for the Trump clickbait every time?
Covert (Houston tx)
Trump has been antiSemitic for decades. He is just accusing others of his own sins. He does that all the time, and if Israelis, or anyone else is stupid enough to fall for it again, it is hard to have any sympathy for a country self destructive enough to vote for Netanyahu again. Antisemitism has absolutely risen during the Trump administration, and what Trump is doing, edges Israel towards armed conflicts. Netanyahu has made agreements with various antiSemitic groups and regimes. White nationalists use Netanyahu to legitimize their actions. Trump is no different.
john michel (charleston sc)
Believe me, all dealings with Israel by the U.S. are entirely directed by the defense industries.
Dobbys sock (Ca.)
Listen carefully and one can hear pieces of silver in Ms. Pipko's purse. You don't think it's all about the money for her do ya?! Nah. Don't be so cynical. Trumps not a grifter and Evangelicals love them some g d. Woo away Jexodus. The Democratic Tent flap is always open. Stay or go. It's your call.
LawyerTom1 (MA)
It should be no surprise that a pretty face, lacking any other attribute, wants to sell her soul to promote a Quisling. You go with what you got, and that is not much here.
LAM (Westfield, NJ)
It’s amazing what people will do to just get attention. In this article, the individual provides no rationale whatsoever for supporting Trump. If she is intelligent, she will surely see that an individual who is surrounded by criminals, convicted criminals, is unlikely to be innocent of crimes. As for supporting Israel, Trump and Netanyahu support a program that will result in the destruction of Israel as a democratic homeland for the Jews. If there is one state solution, Israel will have to annex the West Bank and, if they do not provide citizenship, full citizenship, to the Palestinian occupants, they will become exactly like South Africa. This system will not last forever and eventually, Israel will have to give citizenship to the Palestinians and Israel will no longer be a Jewish state.
Nick (Brooklyn)
Another Hope Hicks for #45? Swimsuit model turned social media warrior? I would pity Ms. Pipko's nativity in thinking Trump is doing anything but using her social media reach to further his own agenda of power consolidation if she didn't have such a latent capacity to do lasting damage to the Jewish community and discourse in this country. You want to leave the democratic party to be a Republican? Only one party has torch-bearing racists and bigots chanting in the streets. Only one party has a President effectively condoning white nationalism by saying there are "good people on both sides". Only one party is trying to send bombs to prominent democratic Jewish donors. It's not the Democratic party. Poor Ms Pipko - I hope she can wake up before she is consumed by the very hate she claims to be trying to escape.
Mtnman1963 (MD)
It's cute how 23 year olds think they know enough to open their mouths on the national stage. I'll listen to her when she says something without posing or flashing her cleavage.
Michael (Melbourne)
Trump is the greatest friend that Jews and Israel have ever had in an American president. Democrats cannot even single out and condemn the problem of antisemitism. I fear for the Jewish people if the likes of the BDS supporting AOC, Ilhan Omer and Rashid Talib ever get into a position of power in Congress or the Presidency.
moosemaps (Vermont)
Um, nope. There is no light, no angle, no words, no philosophy, that can make Trump seem at all reasonable, less offensive, less absolutely disgusting and morally corrupt.
Debbie (Atlanta)
If Trump is so pro-Jewish, then why does he falsely and purposely spread rumors that Soros pays for the “caravan” of terrorists and that Soros funds protestors against Trump when he knows that those statements stokes his own right wing anti Semitic base? And why would he post a picture of Clinton online with a Star of David and dollar signs on it? He can’t have it both ways.
JaneF (Denver)
As a Jewish American, I will never support the party of Trump and Mitch McConnell. I think climate change is real, I believe in equal opportunity for all, for gun control, for health care for all, for the right of women to control their own bodies, for honesty and integrity. None of these are issues or ideas that resonate with the GOP. Israel is one issue; it is insulting to think that it is my only issue. I did not support the moving of the embassy to Jerusalem, I do believe in the the concept of Tikkun Olam, or repair the world. Trump is tearing the world apart.
Areader (Huntsville)
@JaneF I applaud your seeing the big picture and not being a one issue person. I live in Alabama and I am surrounded by one issue voters. For the most part they are either anti-free choice or anti-gay. These are two separate categories for the one issue voters and for the most part there is not much overlap. They are honest about their feeling and willing tell you that nothing else matters
Rain (NJ)
@JaneF thank you for speaking up! great response.
Mike (NJ)
Historically, Jews were ardent supporters of the Democratic Party? My parents were, my grandparents were and I used to be. One reason for this has to do with a tenet of Judaism which promotes social justice. Previously, there was alignment with the Democratic Party on this. In the case of UN sanctions against Israel which the US has not supported with the exception of the Obama presidency on one occasion and the BDS movement supported by many Democrats, it's clear that Jews need to decide whether social justice is more important than the survival of Israel, the last refuge of Jews after thousands of years of pogroms and the Holocaust. The Democratic Party is morphing into the Socialist Party, a highly flawed system. So, while I am not a fan of Trump, he's a better option for Jews than Sanders, Omar, Tlaib, etc. This is why I will support the GOP in 2020 and not the Democrats. Other Jews should think about this.
CF (Massachusetts)
@Mike If you are an American, you should be asking yourself if what's good for Israel is necessarily good for America anymore. I'm disgusted with our abandoning the Iran Nuclear Deal, which I strongly believe will negatively impact this nation in the long term. Frankly, Netanyahu is really bad for both Israel and America, and if you don't see that, then sure, become a Republican. I promise you that, in the end, that will not have been a good move for you. Other Jews will not think as you do because they are Americans first and always.
Gray Area (Gainesville FL)
@Mike "It's clear that Jews need to decide whether social justice is more important than the survival of Israel, the last refuge of Jews after thousands of years of pogroms and the Holocaust." Only a Trump/Bibi supporter would say these two things mutually exclusive.
Mike (NJ)
@CF "If you are an American, you should be asking yourself if what's good for Israel is necessarily good for America anymore. " I agree with you. What's good for Israel is not necessarily good for America but in this case, it just happens to be.

I suspect this is a losing battle for Republicans. To vote for Republicans these days, you have to be either uninformed or rich with no social conscience. (I'm saying this as nicely as I can.) Jews of eastern European origin, who are objectively the smartest (seriously, we have data on this) group on the planet and who have long history of being the victims of social injustice are not likely to meet either criteria for Republican voters.

Those Jews who agree with the agenda of the Republican Party and see Trump as some sort of modern Messiah have every right to their belief and opinion. While they can, in the Judaic tradition, argue all they want about the interpretation of laws and traditions to justify their position, they will be denying some very basic tenets of how we are to regard and treat our fellow human beings. Their new political gods have a basic policy essentially similar to Johnathan Swift's "Modest Proposal" with the exception that the means should be firearms, torture and expulsion from the garden they want the USA to become. Odd how quickly several thousand years of both Christian and Jewish conclusions about compassion, hospitality and justice dissolve into seemingly attractive rhetoric that masks the brutality of the gulag. Jews might do well to regard this as the sticky web that is spun to make them the next meal. As in the saying, "You are either at the table or on the menu", they are not really being invited to the table.

Unfortunately at least with the people I talk to even in University this started under Mr Obama after he took the Jewish vote for granted... STRIKE ONE:when Mr Obama started embracing Palestine and the Arab States over Israel. STRIKE TWO: When he didn't invite Mr Netanyahu to the White House. Disagree with his politics all you want, but he is the leader of one of the USA strongest allies. I cant imagine the leader of Britain or France or Canada or Japan being so belittled and disrespected by POTUS. STRIKE THREE: It then was made perfectly clear during that truly offensive act at the UN, when the USA for the first time in its history, refused to veto the anti-Israel resolution. and really hit the head 3 Strikes you are out...

A ridiculous concept coming from yet another faux...words fail here because I am lacking at what word best captures this brand of people-who-think-they-know-policy-based-on-notoriety, aka Trump, Ms. Pipko, and others of this ilk. Granted she has ideas of her own - what 23-year-old doesn't? - but let's wait to give her undue prominence until she's old enough to have actually voted in more than two (if that!) presidential elections, and hopefully garners a broader understanding of society and world issues.

Strange, Trump is nearly mute when it comes to criticizing white nationalists and veiled anti-semitism but has decided that helping his conflicted partner in Israel is good for the United States. I hope that Netanyahu is not representative of the best of Israel just as I hope that the world realizes that Trump does not represent American values.

What makes people think that Trump wouldn't throw Jews under the bus as he has with anyone else? The only Jews he likes are very rich ones who also don't pay their taxes. Not sure why the NYT is giving so much attention to a bikini model huckster who next week could be draped in the flag of Hamas? As a Jewish person, I can support Israel without supporting a far right Israeli government. I can deplore antisemitic screeds, and still support a two-state solution. What's the point of being an ethical Jewish person anyway if you just toss all your beliefs away for a tax bribe that vanishes after the first year anyway? I honestly don't see any integrity in any living Republicans. What do they believe in besides hurting the vulnerable, gun rights, and not paying taxes?

Sad. A 23 year old with no life's purpose.

There is a partisan tone to this article that is all too common these days. I wish writers were less political in their tone.

I immigrated from India where I thought I left behind an abhorrent caste system. Now in the US, we do have a different caste system. You can call it whatever but it is very similar to caste system.
Michael Willhoite (Cranston, RI)
Ms. Pipko is just another pawn of Trump. She would be wiser to go back to figure skating. Or given the sample of her ‘poetry’ in the article, she might make a career out of writing little verses for greeting cards.

To summarize this story: How dare for someone to have different views than some members of the Democrat Party. Society should not allow someone to urge a Democrat who happens to be Jewish to change their party affiliation. Of course, it shall remain ok to urge Republicans to leave their party.
rdgelman (Leesburg, VA)
There are going to be Jews who support Trump the same way there are immigrants from Mexico who do (I've read about them!) but there will never be a large percentage of Jews who support a man who cheated on his wives, lies to the American people, and who cheats on his Taxes. We're not brought up with those kind of values and we will reject him come 2020.

A 23 year old Instagram model, leading a 'social movement'? Its grifters, all the way down.

Well now, this is a new one for me. I've come to terms with 'Jews for Jesus' 'Hassidic Zen masters' 'Zen Cohens' and 'Zen Judaism' - but 'Jews for Oppression of Minorities'? How does that work? Oh wait - is Stephen Miller involved? Now it starts to make sense. And the koan for today: 'If you wish to know The Way, don’t ask for directions. Argue.' (From "Zen Judaism: For You a Little Enlightenment" by David M. Bader)
