Apart from man-made global warming, there is a lack of ecologic awareness ( no reforestation), rampant corruption ( no investments in infrastructure) and sometimes outright anti-white racism ( Mugabe in Zimbabwe). All of this does not dispense western countries from their responsibility towards these double victims: from their corrupt elites and from our careless pollution. If the West was less hypocritical and more united, local elites might be brought to reason. Natural calamities are a stress-test that is worsened by these human-made variables.

Overpopulation and high birth rates haven't helped any of these countries escape from dire poverty. Not that natural disasters choose certain countries, but it doesn't help with the morbidity and mortality figures. “He had one wife,” the son read, “and left behind five children and 28 grandchildren.” That about sums it up. A lot harder to find economic opportunities for 28 grandchildren as opposed to a replacement figure of 4. I'm guessing about 7 times harder. Oh and you need 7 times as many doctors, 7 times as much food, 7 times as many qualified teachers, 7 times as much medicine . . .

Look at the future. It’s looks just like Mozambique. Third world countries hit with natural disasters that kill thousands. Hundreds of thousands? Millions? More? Poor people migrating to avoid death. Economic costs beyond any capacity to fund them. Abandonment of enormous areas of the land masses of our earth. Where will they go? Not much land south of the equatorial “kill zone”. I bet they try to go north. Yes, we will then need a wall, or ten. But, there is a solution before us right now: HR763 Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act. Reduces emissions by 40% in 12 years, and 90% by 2050!!! That will change everything. Good for health and safety of our people, it saves 10,000 existing pollution deaths per year. Good for the economy by creating 2.1 million jobs over 10 years. Use the power of our free enterprise market to change our energy system away from pollution.... without costly emissions regulations. We know what we have to do, and we know how to do it. Political will of the people (that is you, dear reader) can bring about the policies we need to save ourselves and our childrens’ future. Please write your Member of Congress and Senator asking them to support this non-partisan bill.
