Zion is a freshman, good luck. Michigan State beat Michigan 3 times this year, Michigan beat North Carolina by 17, North Carolina beat Duke twice. Just Duke love, no super teams.

Let me put in a plug for Iowa State. When they’re playing well, they can beat anyone. Ask Kansas, which the Cyclones blew out 77-60 in a game that wasn’t as close as it sounds lol. They’ve (finally) got solid bigs and a fast break that is a beauty to watch. Kentucky will have its hands full with the Cyclones.

In 16 seasons at North Carolina, Roy Williams has guided his team to a #1 seed eight times.

Why? In the history of March Madness bracket, Never, a perfect bracket was ever filled, even with the $1 billion award offered by Warren Buffet 3 years ago. Will 2019 be the exception?

@ I’m rusty on the math but the odds are right up there with winning the Power Ball and being struck by lightning.

Are you going to post the womens' teams as well? I feel like they are always given short shrift!!
David (Wyoming)
They aren’t seeded until tonight, unless you know something the NYT doesn’t.

Regardless of what/how it is reported, the truth is that Not as many people care - and not nearly as much - about the women’s tourney.
Mike Oare (Pittsburgh)
@Bhj Yes, but the Women have made great strides since the NCAA started hosting a tournament. And the longest winning streak in major college basketball is held by the Women, Connecticut. OWG

Bounce back and March on, Wolverines. I have faith that Coach Beilein and the assistant coaches will have 'Captain Hook' Simpson & our team ready to play. Defense wins championships. Go Blue!
Ned Flanders (Michigan)
Actually, Spartans win championships.

The story of March Madness selections is all the obscure and small teams that make it in. Basketball fans love to read about the underdogs and their success stories. We know about the scandals too, but that is a story for another day. When they give out Pulitzers, you don’t write about false news.
Matthew (Washington, D.C.)
Why do they put them in “regional” divisions that have nothing to do with the locations of the schools? Two NY schools - Syracuse and Buffalo - are both in the “West” division.
Charles (Charlotte NC)
It’s really only the top seeds that are put in nearby regions. Plus the fact that the West has been weak for several years and is exceptionally weak this year means that many Eastern, Southern and Midwestern teams get sent out West. Only five teams west of the Mississippi are among the top sixteen (seeds 1 through 4).

The NCAA basketball tournament starts tomorrow. It's time we fixed the one situation that really spoils the game: multiple deliberate fouls by a trailing team in the closing minutes in order to stop the clock. It's annoying and irritating for players, coaches and fans. It's been going on since the earliest days of the game, so many people assume nothing can be done. One new rule is all that's needed to completely eliminate this. During then last 2 minutes of the second half and the last 2 minutes of any overtime period, the game clock would stop when a team with a lead has possession of the ball. The game clock would run normally when a team that was trailing has the ball and when the score is tied. The shot clock rule would not change; it would be in effect all the time. This new rule would be a radical change. The shot clock and 3-point shot were also radical changes and they made basketball a better and more enjoyable game.

@Sheldon Burke Nobody used deiberate fouls like Jimmy V. And there has never been a more exciting championship than when Jimmy V coached the Wolfpack to victory over Phi Slamma Janna. Watch the 30 30.
Mike Oare (Pittsburgh)
@Sheldon Burke You sound too young to remember Dean Smith and Phil Ford. In the era before the shot clock, if UNC had more points than minutes left in the game, they stalled. Boring. Solution: Leading team gets the choice of the FTs or the ball after 10-fouls.
How We Did It (North Carolina)
It should be noted that Duke "stomped" through the ACC tournament by squeaking past UNC by 1 point in the semi-finals. Carolina led by double digits at one point in the game and had a chance to win at the end. So.... Zion is certainly a great and dominating player. But UNC also has great players - and is a great team. Go Heels!
michjas (Phoenix)
@How We Did It. So, the Heels blew a double digit lead and blew a chance to win at the end and you’re bragging? When the best you’ve got is that you lose close, you ain’t got much.
