If an with a title like this covered an actress and the writer were a male, people would be protesting.

I really like this actor. It might be a little PC, but I just wish he hadn't used the term "broken" to describe the horses they used.

@CW, What term do you prefer? Are you a horse person?

Bullhead! Crazy and scary. Unbelievably strong. The Drop! Such a talented work - goosebumps.

He was terrific in A Little Chaos.

“A Little Chaos,” although historically inaccurate, is an immensely enjoyable period piece with not just great romantic chemistry between Matthias Schoenaerts and Kate Winslet, but wonderful performances by Alan Rickman, Stanley Tucci and Helen McCrory as well. Schoenaerts is one of the most intelligent and sensitive actors working today and exudes effortless sex appeal even when playing unattractive characters. He also seems to be the male equivalent of Meryl Streep as far as being totally convincing in different accents and languages which happily means we get to see him even more.

@Susan I totally agree, Susan. Lovely film. The score by Peter Gregson was sublime, as was the great Alan Rickman in one of his final roles. But Mr. Schoenaerts stole it for me. Absolutely. Such sensitivity, such quiet introspection. As you say, "one of the most intelligent and sensitive actors working today". On the flip side I thought he was wasted in The Danish Girl.

For all interested. May I suggest "Suite Francaise" (2014), directed by Saul Dibb. Mr. Schoenaerts gives a spot-on nuanced performance, along with Michelle Williams, Kristin Scott Thomas, Ruth Wilson and Tom Schilling in a drama set in WWII France that's currently streaming on Netflix.

@N. Smith Read the book by Irene Nemirovsky, it's devastating.

I fell hard for him in Far from the Madding Crowd when he walks away from Bathsheba, into the soaking rain. What a man!

@Joseph Yes! How could this article omit "Madding Crowd"?

What a beautiful interview! I think that this movie and other movies will shine a light into people's minds about justice reform. It is not a black and white issue. Can't wait to see this movie.. He is such a great actor!

Check Schoenaerts out in The Drop, based on a Dennis Lehane short story. He plays a thuggish stalker that will give you chills. Reading some of his comments in interviews elsewhere, he doesn't seem to think the character is a stalker. But he is a fine actor.

@Tom Yes, he was good in The Drop, one of my favorite movies. Tom Hardy and the late Sopranos guy—I forget his name—were good, as well. And, of course, Naomi Rapace. Good movie, all around. A sleeper, as it wasn’t even mentioned in the article, but well worth watching. James Gandolfini, that’s who I was looking for!
Ericson Maxwell (Seattle)
@Susann It's Noomi Rapace.
