Since it disappeared from the NYT site, I’ve been playing it (every day) at https://www.kenkenpuzzle.com/nydaily# which appears to be a continuation of the same format. But this morning I am greeted with: > Not Found > > The requested URL was not found on this server. >Apache/2.4.29 (Ubuntu) Server at www.kenkenpuzzle.com Port 80 and at https://www.kenkenpuzzle.com > Forbidden > > You don't have permission to access this resource. > Apache/2.4.29 (Ubuntu) Server at www.kenkenpuzzle.com Port 80

Resolved. Back to normal. I find that if I access https://www.kenkenpuzzle.com/nydaily# via a private window (Firefox), there are no ads.

Does anyone monitor these old comments and, if so, why did the NYT drop Kenken exactly? I know it's available offsite but if the only reason for the drop was the Flash software issue, and the offsite place offers it in HTML5, why not bring it back?

Such a shame the Times no longer carries KenKen. Sadly, the seemingly identical version at Kenkenpuzzle.com doesn't perform nearly as well.

I use KenKen when teaching adult students math. It is a great way to work on factoring. I also use it in the elementary classroom. Two of my students this year discussed having a KenKen party. I hope I’m invited.

A couple of years ago I set a personal goal of solving all six of the online NYT KenKen problems in less than 20 minutes each day and make a note in my calendar whenever I'm successful. I've found that on average, I'm successful about once a month, and when I read in this article that the NYT problems get progressively more difficult throughout the week, I checked to see if I've been had more successes earlier in the week than later. I found that my success results were fairly spread out by day of the week, so I'm thinking that the Times' increasing difficulty does not apply to the online version.

Why isn't the Sunday KenKen available to online subscribers with full access?

I have played Kenken for 6 years. I like the 9x9 and the No-Op ( where the arithmetical operation is not shown). If you fail a ken-ken just keep retrying until you succeed

It would be nice if they could create one based on HTML5 instead of Flash since Flash will soon be gone and no one will be able to display kenken any more.

@BosReg Did you ever visit KenKen.com? HTML5 version there, with unlimited puzzles. If you want Expert or NoOp you must subscribe for a small $$ amount, but it's worth it just to get rid of advertisements anyway.

I stopped playing KENKEN five years ago. Why? Because it consumed my day. I tried to limit my KENKEN playing to times when I was in the restroom but then I found that I was in the restroom for hours at a time. No matter how I tried to limit the time I spent playing KENKEN, it always failed. Finally, I just went cold turkey. Now, I limit myself to the crossword. I can spend some time in the morning with that and leave it — get on with more productive pursuits.

My son introduced me to KenKen when it was launched and I have used it for the past 10 years with my math students in grades K-5. What an exciting and engaging way to practice math facts! Some students make up their own KenKen puzzles for us to solve - which I find to be quite an incredible feat. I recommend it to people of all ages.

@Susan Marantz We use the terrific KenKen Classroom program and they send us puzzle sets each Friday. Is that what you use?

Will, thanks for bringing us kenken! I enjoy it so much, it has inspired me to break out some of my old math books, just for fun.

KenKen means "yes yes" in Hebrew. (You just don't want to hear it alongside "ayn ba'ayah" which means "no problem" in which case you can bet your last shekel that there's a real problem!)
Maggie (NYC)
I thoroughly enjoyed the 9x9 that ran on Saturday 2/9/19 - there was something pleasingly contemplative about solving it.

Congratulations! KenKen is usually the first page I pull up every morning. It sure beats reading the news.

Please create an IOS-friendly version!
Bob (Pleasantville)
@Daniel There is a great one called KenKen Classic! It's put out by the KenKen co that supplies it to the NYT
Bob (Pleasantville)
Greatest puzzle ever!

@Bob I agree, Bob from Pleasantville!
