I've had Compère Lapin on my wish list since reading about it almost 2 years ago and as soon as I knew I'd be back in NOLA this month, I quickly made a reservation. (for lunch!, as I wasn't taking a chance during the Mardi Gras period) I'll be sure to savor the meal even more after Chef Compton's account of how much she works to make it work. I can't wait!

Compére Lapin is a wonderful restaurant in a city with loads of choices. Bywater American Bistro is on my list to try next.

Compére Lapin has become my favorite NOLA restaurant. Chef Nina Compton has created something really special there and at Bywater American Bistro. Glad to see her getting this well deserved attention. She clearly works hard and her success is well earned.

I loved her on her season of Top Chef and thought she should have taken home the top prize, so I'm thrilled to see she received a James Beard award. I attended Tulane University and have not been back to NOLA since 2003, but I intend to make a visit to Compere one of the first things I do on an upcoming visit.
