For this game, the match up really made no difference. Everyone knows that the Patriots are the undisputed best team, and they have proven it time and time again. However, for this superbowl, it just felt like no one cared. Tom Brady was missing <1 yard passes, the rams played absolutely no offense, the commercials didn't feel like superbowl commercials, and everyone involved was just kind of walking through their parts. Maroon 5? Ok whatever, kinda lame no one cares. Big Boi? Who? Travis Scott? Cool until he botched his big song and walked all over Sweet Victory. It was just a big disappointment. I can say with full confidence that I no longer care about the NFL because of this failure to please the fans.
I feel like once the semi finals came along, everything went crazy. lots of awful calls in the two semi final games. It got so bad that Everyone thought the referees were apart of Tom Brady's team. People were. also disappointed in the two teams in the playoff. I hear countless sports analysts say that a lot of people that are not fans of these two teams, just can't decide on who to cheer for. Everyone wanted to see either the saints, chiefs, and kinda the rams, if there was no missed call.
In this game, the Rams defense were wore down by the strong Patriots offense. This happened by the Rams poor offensive strength in the game leading to the Patriots' offensive having the ball double the amount as the Rams. Though the Rams punter should have gotten MVP for his consistency and length of his punter.
In regards to the outrage around the matchup, the unbelievable call by the referee was an overall valuable thing. The NFL is now considering changing the rules due to this incident and, if changed, will alter the way the game is played and watched forever.
Super Bowl LIII was probably one of the best Super Bowls ever, not because of the game (which was boring at best and unwatchable at worst), but because it inadvertently shined some bright lights on the many problems the NFL faces right now. Ever since the Colin Kaepernick kneeling incident almost three years ago, the NFL has been hampered in its attempts to remain the No. 1 most watched sport in America, with an unpopular commissioner in Roger Goodell, and up until recently, a President who was more than willing to Tweet his mind about certain players protests. Everything about the game and the musical performances (other than the national anthem and "America, The Brave") just seemed out of place. The game itself was underwhelming, with the Patriots winning for what feels like the 1,000,000th time. Its as if Tom Brady has been perennially at a dunk tank, always hitting the target, watching his opponents sink to the bottom while he continually claims the greatest prize in the sport. Fortunately for me, I was able to get over what many (myself included) consider to be one of the worst no-calls in the history of the NFL, but many fans were unable to move on from what they saw as a robbery: the Rams illegitimately playing in a game where many thought they squandered the ripe opportunity to finally defeat the Goliath of the NFL in the New England Patriots. I believe that this game and controversies proceeding it will serve as a wake-up call for a league that is slowly fading away.
I loved this article because it informed me about what happened in the game while i slept. For some reason this years super bowl did not drive such a need to watch it. When I saw who was playing i thought to myself it was just another small team facing the yet again giants that control the NFL. Kudos to Brady for leading such a powerhouse team but after a while watching an inevitable win can get boring. Everyone loves an underdog.
I was excited about the game but wished it were the Chiefs VS the Rams. people showed displeasure to the matchup due to a call in the Saints VS Rams game. The halftime show because of a controversy surrounding the leagues response to racism. For people who do not care about the actual game, these skirmishes overshadowed the game.
I really enjoyed the game . It was great to see all about defensive strategy instead of all quarterback passing and great catches.
