i recall Viola Davis when she recieved the oscar for Fences, said something like we should look in the graveyards for stories to tell.... the last 60 years are full of stories about everyday people living in times of great social change..... many of the the young have no memories of these times, and need to be awakened of the struggles that folks have gone thru in recent history.

Great actress! She was powerful in her various roles in the series American Crime.

While Oprah may be a role model to some, then again, there are quite a few out here who feels she never properly apologized to American for inflicting us with Dr. Phil.

Please make a great movie about the Harlem from the artist’s perspective, Regina. That story needs to be told and you are the perfect artist to tell it.

Also, love Ms. King...she is truly a great actor and director. But if not for Jada Pinkett-Smith and the #Oscars So White and subsequent campaign...I do not think we would be here today. Pinkett-Smith's public statements atound that lack of diversity was a clear shift and moved us to more diversity in film across the board. That is truly a story with little follow-up.

One of the few who started as a child actor and managed to come out in one piece and continue their success as an adult. That takes a good upbringing and a solid head on her shoulders. Good for her!

It is always does your heart good to watch someone go from a child to a powerful woman with a goal. Congratulations Ms. King!!

Regina King is exceptional and that goes beyond her acting. I hope that she can keep her pledge to hire at least 50 percent women and that she represents more projects. I've always enjoyed King's acting. She elevates any project she is in. I hope to see her much more as time goes on.

Watch her in Enemy of the State--so good, but then again, she's always good. I loved her speech and am so happy she's being "seen" by Hollywood.

I have been a fan of Ms. King's since her "227" days, and she had me on the floor in "Jerry Maguire". I love her idea about a mini series on the Harlem Renaissance. My high school English teacher mentioned this period in passing, and I regret that I did my paper on Ernest Hemingway instead of Langston Hughes. A mini series on this great cultural movement in America directed by Ms. Hughes would be fantastic!

Regina is a national treasure. I have followed her since the "227" days. I will watch anything she is in.

I especially loved her when she was the best thing about that fine tv series "Southland." Keep on keeping on, Regina.

I find it very amusing when rich, famous women start talking about parity and equality in "Hollywood". Women who clean houses, teach, work minimum wage jobs travel by subways for an hour to get to work and then home again to care for their families should be interviewed for your Magazine instead of women who "have it all".
marielle (Detroit)
@Julia when you can still count the number of "rich, famous women" ( who are also people of color in the visual arts/film ) basically at under a 100. I do not find it amusing. When people are able to help others through the use of their wealth fame /power e.g. hire others on both sides of the camera, option books, hire script writers, produce films, change tropes then I think they should also be interviewed particularly when they show the lives of teachers, house cleaners, and all of the other working people who have been and still are absent from and their stories underrepresented in film.

Regina King is a fine actress with wide range and with many roles under her belt. Finally, she is receiving the recognition she deserves. I loved her in The Leftovers.

I have enjoyed every performance by Ms. King. She is simply a joy to watch in action. Congrats on the GG award and good luck at the Oscars! Fingers crossed, Regina King.

I've always been impressed by Ms King's performances on TV and on movie screens. Now, reading about her philosophies, and her ability to maintain perspective, and even humor, in the face of injustices, I am even more impressed.

Love you Regina. Keep on keeping on.
