Thanks for the informative write up. After reading this blog i got to know the reason for increase in heart diseases. Vikram Hospital is the best heart hospital in Bangalore. Cardiology department in the hospital has very experienced doctors and surgeons. Nurses and medical staff show a great compassion and affection to the patients.

The Sleep Revolution by Huffington tells many ways to get more sleep. Reducing noise by using lined curtains, etc. has helped me, and. I find it helpful to do a meditation on the breath.

Sleep and aging are always a match-up. I'd love to sleep more and continue to chip away at finding a combination of natural remedies. The side effects go medications are much worse than getting up and reading a good book.

Right, like it's a choice? Let's not forget, also, that there was a big article in this section a few years ago about how taking sleeping pills is linked to Alzheimer's.

So, yet another exhortation to get enough sleep. Thanks. I'd sleep 24/7 if all of the experts insisting I should sleep could actually cure my insomnia and make me sleep. Sadly, they can't, and I'm fully aware that sleeping between 0-6 hours a night is damaging my health and my life. I'm open to suggestion.

@Terrils: try getting a CPAP mask typically prescribed to/for those with sleep apnea. Although this is not your issue, I have used one (I’ve had insomnia, as well as sleep apnea, for years), and it has changed my life. While I don’t always sleep 6-7 hours, the hours that I *do* sleep are higher quality and, most importantly, I am no longer tired during the day. That, in and of itself, has been worth the price of admission. Just my two cents, as I am not a doctor. Hope this help and best of luck to you in figuring out how to get a better night’s sleep.

Did the study address people over 70 people too? In my unscientific survey, i.e., talking to my friends in their 70s, most of us are not getting 6 hours of sound sleep on a regular basis.

@joan Total agreement with your comment. 70 is just about when it started… The inability to get back to sleep if you wake up during the night. Nights when I get six hours of sleep call for celebration.
