Hey — what about Northwestern in the Big Ten!!!??
@Larry Goldzband
Good point. The Wildcats won their division. Why is it that Northwestern often gets ignored?

We just learned Urban Meyer is not beyond judgment? What about leaving Florida, claiming major health issues, only to sign with Ohio State within a year? He knew the UF program had disciplinary issues and his recruiting classes were subpar. What about hiding Aaron Hernandez behind Tim Tebow? No, I'm not a Gators fan, but I lived in Florida when he was coaching there. He's been judged down there for a long time, and with good reason, even before his coaching assistant's reprehensible conduct became public.

A real college football playoff is a necessity. The champion of each of the Power 5 conferences, a seat reserved for the top non-power 5 conference team not named Notre Dame and 2 at large bids.
If the NCAA can do a 68 team tournament for basketball, they can do an 8 team playoff for football.
College ball sucks and will not get better but will get worse and more centered on who pays the coaches the most money, it is shameful and disgusting, I am out...

Lazy article that fails to address what we really learned this year. 1. Big money boosters are always willing to look the other way when Coaches behave badly. Ex: Ohio State & Maryland. 2. The exploitation of athletes, particularly African American cultural capital, continues unabated. 3. Alabama isn’t invincible and the SEC was always overrated. 4. The college playoff format is awful. FCS and other NCAA Divisions have a true playoff and champion. While the FBS Champion still carries a tinge of feeling pre-selected. 5. CF is still a marquee draw and ESPNs Game Day is cool.
You forgot one... Against all odds and despite excelling in this area in the past, West Virginia University and Washington State University set still higher standards for disappointment. Go Mountaineers and Cougars, sigh.
This WVU grad is thrilled to see Dana leaving. Excited to see what Neal Brown brings to Morgantown.
@Adrift
So is this one... Keeping my fingers crossed, as usual!
Major college sports are twisted replicas of amateurism. Leave it at that. Money taints everything and everyone.
This is an excellent article with one omission: Northwestern! Under the inspiring leadership of Coach Pat Fitzgerald, the team won a Big Ten championship for the first time. Coach Pat is Coach of the Year and will continue to graduate more student-athletes than any other major program. Go Cats.

Have followed Northwestern for a few years because my son just graduated from there. Better team than many realize. And in our house, his was the only team to win its bowl game!
Multi million dollar coaches who exploit and damage vulnerable young athletes. Select college professors who carry uninterested "scholar athletes" through their classes. College presidents who look the other way when their coaches violate laws and human decency. Isn't it about time that the NCAA was indicted under the RICO statutes?

Well, the important thing is that the student-athletes attended all their classes, studied hard, made good grades, and received an education.
Oh, and learned it's not about winning, it's about how you played the game.
This is all that really matters.
