Here's one the late night TV comics missed: Chuck and Nancy looked like angry parents waiting for their teenage daughter who has really blown her curfew.

I finally got around to reading Trevor Noah's great book, several years too late: what a great read!

Why can't the Democrats stick with a simple message: the shutdown is causing TSA, Border Patrol, Coast Guard, ICE and Federal Prison Guards to go without pay? The shutdown is damaging national security. The shutdown is a rare opportunity for infiltrating terrorists and drug smugglers. As far as optics, with Pelosi and Schumar so tightly packed around the podium, they themselves look like prisoners in a Trump Detention Cage.

I think you mean most shows taped too "early" to cover the address, not too late.

Perhaps boring is what we need right now. I’ve had enough reality show.

@jb, yeah, we all have. But if they are going to incite any enthusiasm in anyone not already enraged, they are going to have to get someone else. These two may be great at their jobs as leaders, but they are dismal as spokesmen on tv.

@caharper: Well, maybe everyone ought to get used to the idea of leaders who don't behave like loud, bragging morons! And get used to the idea that government does not happen in sound-bites. Pelosi and Schumer are intelligent and don't scream or say lies with every breath they take, unlike Don the Con. I think a LOT of people have gotten very, very, very mentally lazy in the past 2 years - it's part of Trump's corruption of everything he touches. Trump = LAZY. I suggest that voters need to check their OWN attention spans to see if their ability to listen to "dismal" spokespeople (who have something important to say!) has been permanently damaged by the Trump-idiocracy. If you require MAJOR EXCITEMENT to accompany every government proclamation or action, I say: Grow up! Only Trump and his base need the "bread-and-circuses" approach.

Right out of the abruptly ended Trump meeting, Pelosi's off-the-cuff remark that federal workers suffering economically from the shutdown "couldn't just go ask their fathers for more money" was way smarter than the drivel from the podium with Schumer. C'mon Democrats, turn up the volume... you've got the moxie...USE IT.
