I thought very highly of Neil Young. I always enjoyed his music and counted it among my favorite. I knew I could count on him for integrity, and looked to his long-term marriage as part of the evidence.
Then I learned what he did to his wife, how he destroyed their marriage with his infidelity. Now I do not think so highly of him. It is possible that the stress of the divorce caused her cancer.
