This review comes as a relief to me. As a woman of a certain age, I was beginning to wonder if I was losing it. Much of the dialogue is quick and hard to make out, especially if your seat is not in row C. But maybe these 90-minute no-intermission plays (“American Son” is another example) are simply incapable of sufficiently developing a subject which is complex and required more from the playwright and actors. Maybe that convenience of the quick-in-and-out-and-home arrangement is purchased too dearly.
