'Sup y'all. I would really like it if you could do this contest without having to pay to read the articles. (only 3 free articles a month? Man, what a bummer). Anyway, Happy New Year! Also, uh...I really want to be a part of this contest, but I just don't have those guts, man. Or the money. Maybe I should grow 'em.

In my English class, my class just finished reading “Things Fall Apart” by Chinua Achebe. The book impacted the way I feel about the colonization of Africa forever. In the story, “Christian” missionaries came to the fictional setting of Umofia in Nigeria. When they first came, they were peaceful and not violent. Then, slowly but surely, they started to take over the tribe. Things suddenly began to change drastically for their tribe. The tribe was being controlled all of the sudden, and they had lost their culture. Little did they know that the Christians had an ultirior motive. They started dehumanizing the Nigerians so that they could control them. Thing fell apart for the Nigerians. Chinua Achebe wrote this fictional story to tell the Africans’ side of the colonization of their home. People had written about the colonization in books, but the African who witnessed it firsthand never go to tell their story. This is relevant today because it is educating young teenagers about something that was not right, so they can learn from someone else’s mistakes.

@Claire Moroney Um...I don't think that's where you're supposed to submit your entry for the Big Contest Thing, but..well...that was really good! I really liked the China Archery Tribe thing you talked about! And how the African colonies tell stories about colonization!
