Raised as an evangelical I learned life was worth living as soon as I was able to leave home. I still accept Christ and his teachings as divine. I found the world of money-grubbing "preachers" in fine suits eating the best meals and driving the best cars repulsive to say the least. The thinly veiled racism which drove anyone who was not white as far away as possible was silently pervasive. All churches have problems, problem leaders and moral choices that are difficult to navigate. Not so the evangelicals - they know it all. A bunch of them regularly pray for and hope for the end of the world so they can watch the rest of us burn in hell. At the moment they are being suckered by the biggest con man in American history. Tough noogies.
