Sixty readers have asked for the size of the pan in the pistachio cookie recipe. Assume standard 9-inch? Author, please reply!

Anyone out there have a recipe for a good Christmas cookie that doesn't have butter in it? (Besides the bacon fat gingersnaps) We lactose intolerant people feel sadly left out of the fun!

Four of the recipes in today’s paper are “salted” something (the chocolate cake, the maple pie, the pistachio shortbread, the hot fudge). I’ll be glad when this trend dies away. A pinch of salt mixed in is fine, but am I really the only one who doesn’t want salt all over my dessert?

You are not the only one who doesn’t like everything salted. I seem to be brushing salt crystals off of everything, and I long for Old fashioned UNsalted caramel.

Where’s the salt in the toasted coconut shortbread, described as “sweet and salty balance” in the article? True, shortbread often uses unsalted butter, but still...

I have in my head the platonic ideal of a frosted molasses cookie but haven’t yet found a recipe to live up to it...any suggestions???

@Kelly These cookies got good reviews but I haven't made them yet... https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1014421-grammys-spice-cookies?action=click&module=RecipeBox&pgType=recipebox-page®ion=molasses&rank=13

Applause to Ms. Roman for her creative suffering "Ii a former life as a pastry chef". I admire the selection in this article, but would go for straight chocolate cookies, without molasses. The nice thing about plain cookies, also called biscuits in other tongues, is that they can be dipped in coffee, tea, liqueur, and fed in morsels to friendly dogs.

@Tuvw Xyz But not chocolate ones, which should not be fed to dogs, especially friendly ones.
