A total of four comments. On a New York Times article. That pretty much confirms America's attitude to Afghanistan right now.

All that's missing in these reports is the amount of profit that american corporations realized from the incidents. Humvees are not cheap. The more they get blown up, the higher our GNP; corporate profits rise; jobs are created; wall street benefits. It's a BOOM! Thank you, congressmen! The check is in the mail!

Reading through these daily descriptions of killed Afghan army soldiers, police, and security forces is truly awful and makes me wonder about the point of the war and US involvement in it. How is such a situation sustainable? How can lasting peace be achieved? The current Afghan government and the Taliban are locked in a conflict that neither of them can win. Truly sad that so many people are dying in a senseless war.
