Blue Water
I believe that this picture represents how human beings as a species have lost touch with nature. Before advances in "basic" technologies such as indoor plumbing, efficient farming, and medicine, humans had to fight to survive. In their fight for survival, humans witnessed that nature gives and takes as it pleases. Nature could provide a plentiful bounty, yet it could also provide plentiful devastation. As a result, humans valued and respected nature. However, after many years of technological advancements, humans no longer see that everything they need to survive is supplied by nature. They don't see that the water they drink falls from the sky, they see that the water they drink falls from the tap. They don't see that the food they eat comes from the dirt. They see that the food they eat comes from the grocery store shelves. As a result, humans do not value or care for nature. They simply take and take and take without concern until the great blue lake of bounty, becomes the great dry bed of dirt.
Seeing this picture of the waves crashing against the wall, reminds me of some of a person's thoughts whirling around in his/her head. Roots of ideas, seeming to be arbitrarily and pointless, appearing to form nothing of sense and value.
But when you take a step back and take a breath, when the brain starts to organize them, you'll recognize that they are put into categories, connected by overlapping or related thoughts or memories. Those categories are presented by the individual waves, forming and creating ideas out of sequencing thoughts and memories.
Before actually sharing some of them they are transformed, filtered and rounded off; they are put into carefully chosen words, but in the end it takes a lot of will power to actually share them. These are the ideas with the most significance and value, they are rare, they aren't often shared, but when they are; when they are shared with the right people, they can change a person's opinion, situation, life, or the world-just like a single drop of water.
I think this image represents a reservoir of water that is being emptied out through a tap, that's it.
Just kidding, my English teacher would kill me if I actually wrote that.
In my opinion, this image represents how the full story is never told. In media like the NEWS (Notable Events, Weather and Sports) we are only given a small amount of what is actually happening and not the full story. The amount of information and what information given depends on the network and what makes said network look better. This concept can be applied to so many other things, such as the government with taxes or certain charities and their use of the money they get.
A second opinion I have is that the tap represents how we are protected. As you can see, the tap allows us to gain access to the water without having to get in contact with the dangerous and rough water that is in the reservoir. This can also represent many things. An example is our parents. They are the tap that gives us what we need to survive without having to put us through the dangerous process that a child cannot do.
The image of the huge blue wave crashing against the wall which has a water spicket and a clean, flowing stream of water coming out of the spicket says one thing to me. To me, I see the ocean on one side of the wall and the spicket that looks like a sink faucet or a garden hose spicket symbolizes a water source. As water sources get lower and lower as time goes by, I wouldn’t doubt that scientists are already trying to develop new ways to convert the ocean water into water that is drinkable and useable in people’s homes. They are figuring out a way to filter out the high concentration of salt and purify the water at the same time on a much larger scale to where they can supply an entire country or population of people with the water they need.
I feel as if this picture is portraying that countries that are having water crisis are maybe trying to use ocean water and convert it into potable water. Many countries are having water crisis due to droughts and one of the states in the US, California is also having one. When you are in a drought you can only use a certain amount of water per day but in California they might be turning the saltwater into fresh potable water since they are on the coast. Other places like some parts of Africa and Europe can also do this during droughts and water crisis.
