Momos That Stand Out in a Crowd

After reading your evocative review, I ordered from Crave twice this weekend. I live in Jackson Heights. The Tandoori momo and sukuti momo are not to be missed, whether you're a momophile in Queens or father afield. The taco momo is ... something different. The more traditional sides are very solid, if not as innovative as some other portions of the menu. Thanks so much for your review introducing me to this place! I'll be back.

What a sumptuous review! I'm drooling for momos now and I'm all the way across the country. I'll have to put Momo Crave on my list for the next time I'm in NYC.

Deep fried dumplings are truly depressing. I love fried food, potatoes, chicken, etc. but it's not a responsible choice.Steamed dumplings, or even sautéed dumplings, (Pot-stickers), make so much more sense. Just look at the Native American culture where obesity is completely out of control. There, the favorite"traditional" treat is something called fry bread. It was invented not long ago and long after the invasion of Europeans into the Americas. Of all the terrible weapons used against these people, perhaps the deep fat fryer was the most effective. Yes people like it. And what do you get if you give people what they like? Just look around you.

@ Sera The Village I also like fried food, but I do not allow myself to have any pseudo-conscientious scruples about it. I love Russian pelmeni fried, and same for the Chinese pot-stickers and Schwabian Maultaschen.

Ligaya, your reviews are always a sumptuous journey into the tastes, sights, and people of New York City, but this piece is particularly transporting! The article's sweet sign-off in tribute to "the plenty of Queens" is especially welcome on a grey day in a city far away that is also home to a vibrant mix of residents, and to an array of flavo(u)rs made more plentiful by their presence.
