Democracy is certainly wonderful but messy. With Republicans controlling the state Senate for as long as one can remember, nothing of substance passed the legislature (not unlike Congress). I would like to see both chambers empower relevant committees to hash out the issues and forge grand compromises. It would be then up to the governor to enact the bills or override as the case may be. Just don't bottle up legislation as heretofore.

Democrats got elected, it’s only fair that Mayor de Blasio be afforded the delusion that he’s going to receive billions of dollars from Albany, all so that he might have the chance to do anything to leave a lasting legacy. That is how politics works, right?
The thought of affordable housing in New York City is pretty funny, though.

His relation with Albany has been dismal because how can you respect a man who's staff are such novices.

What possible benefit to the children & parents of NYC could the extension of mayoral control of the schools be? Under Bloomberg, both the Board of Education & the community school boards were eliminated and were replaced with entities that had only "advisory" powers. Can you imagine the response if parental control of the schools was eliminated in the suburban districts?

Interesting. No mention of state take over of Medicaid which is the funding mechanism throughout the country
It would be nice if BDB spent more time making NYC HPD accountable, doing something about all the empty store fronts. How about a big overhaul of NYC SBS and clean house?
