I find it not only ironic but also insensitive - especially in this era of ostentatious calls from the liberal side of the isle that everyone adheres to highest moral standards - that retired professors and faculty of CT public universities who have been drilling into our students to do what's right, deny them funding of the Governor (now Roberta B. Willis) Scholarship program, while they are getting regular COLA increases on their (now up to $340,000 a year) pensions.

https://www.courant.com/politics/elections/hc-election-governor-connecticut-lamont-stefanowski-20181101-story.html Stefanowski just conceded. This is earlier closure than we had in the previous two elections. The issues loomed large to the end, and so did the Trump cloud, but Team Lamont was quick, precise and civil all the way. Great save for the state and the country.

No matter who is Governor and it looks like Lamont, the state is doomed by unfunded pension and healthcare liabilities for state employees. Former Governor Malloy last year locked in a contract with state employees to keep their benefits through 2027. You can't run a state where its citizens sole purpose is to take care of 53,000 state employees and many more retirees. 238K a year LPN's at state hospitals working double shifts for years on end and no one sees a problem with this.
