The Grown-Up Bachelor Pad

It is a beautiful understated apartment with a lot of beige and blue. Back in the day, my college roommate's grandfather ran the Beverly Hills general store, which included decorating services. And when a client had absolutely no idea what they wanted, they got No. 16, which was beige and blue. Indeed, No. 16 is a classic combination, presented here with a modern twist.

Gorgeous apartment, beautifully done, down to the daughter’s room - utterly charming. Agree with all who hate the intrusion of the Sotheby’s ads; we already *subscribe* - why tax us twice? And, oh, by the way: is he single?

I like my bachelor pad much better. This is too clean and sterile. You can sense there is something wrong with a guy living in a place like that.

So not liking clutter means there’s something wrong with you? It’s simply a character trait - one that some mates would find attractive, some not.

I love the living/dining kitchen area and the furnishings. Would not call it particularly "masculine". Maybe a little chunky. Look, just put up a few colorful paintings, a few vases of flowers and it would be completely feminized.

I’m curious how the designer raised the ceilings - did the upstairs neighbor complain about losing ceiling height? Did they yank all the beams out?
Mr. Slater (Brooklyn, NY)
Nice. However, I find the "boy blue" colors a bit contrived. Blue is not always masculine and beige is..well..beige.

A $7,000 bed? I love it, but given that the 26 year old designer was just featured in the NYTimes, along with all of the furniture and hardware named in this article, are the interior furnishings placed just for show? Does Mr. Bonsignore get to keep all of the furnishings at a heavy discount, or at least get an influencer commission?

I like the prominent wet bar....Hef and the 1963 era "Mad men" would approve.

Nice article! Beautiful and masculine space with a touch of the feminine for his daughter... just lovely. Well done to the architect, the owner and The NY Times.

This is good clean design. Not sure why it is labelled "masculine" - pretty much anyone would like this.

Why ALWAYS the name dropping of the clients?
Alfred Juniper (New York)
Cool interview and article. Now this is my kind of “bachelor pad”! Love it. The very sweet little girl’s room is delicate and feminine, an oasis in a sea of masculine blue. Wishing much success to the apartment architect and many happy times for the family within it.

Looks beautiful. However, I cannot see the full explanations in the slide show because of very annoying Sotheby's ads which, no matter how I try, I cannot make them go away. So I can't enjoy this article to its fullest.

Just simply go on the designer's website....there are a ton more images of the whole apartment to see.
WOW (NYC)
What an absolutely beautiful place. And the owner isn't too bad himself.

Very nice design, But I think I would have removed the little black tags on the dining chairs for the shoot.
Tama Hilton (New York)
And what’s the name of your design firm bud?
frank (nyc)
This place is superbly designed. Kudos to Mr. O’Donnell for a magnificent transformation.
