Black women have been carrying the Democratic Party since the 60’s.
Lead on, Ms. James.

Ms. James served me well when she was my city councilwoman.
But she’s too close to Cuomo.
NY needs a real watchdog in the role of Attorney General, not a lapdog. Teachout would have been a much better choice.
But, prove me wrong, Tish. I’m willing to be convinced.

Mr. Trump just warned Democrats that he will come after them if they dare to investigate his political and financial dealings. I am very proud to have an AG with the courage to firmly say "Sorry Mr. President. I am not afraid of you. New Yorkers are not afraid of you."

I don't know what she did as public advocate (formerly known as consumer advocate) except run for that job as obviously a stepping stone to something else. Well, now that she's something else, I hope she actually does some good things for the people of this city and not use this job as another stepping stone. Too much corruption (maybe she can find out why the MTA is always broke and why lottery money isn't go to the schools the way it was meant to be). Good luck.

I, too, am ready for the leadership of black women. Go, Tish, go!

Ms James is highly qualified and I'm glad she won.
But please, nothing that says "Now we'll get Trump" even if that is a goal. It needs to be an unstated goal.
The last thing we need is a NY attorney general whose primary aim is indicting the president on something/anything.

It is the doctors and patients who are most responsible for opioid abuse. Purdue can only be accountable for false information where a doctor would not know better.
As for investigating Trump's deals, go back to the Riverside South development, and how he got away with building it without any of the agreed-on amenities that the City negotiated for in exchange for the right to develop the land.

Very thankful for a promise of carefully considered justice! Congratulations to all who worked so hard on this campaign and to the winner!!

I so miss upstate NY, where we used to live.
And I applaud the new NY Attorney General’s win! Especially do I applaud Letitia James’ avowed intention to continue the investigation of Trump, a man who till recently has escaped the severe scrutiny he so richly deserves.
Go for it Ms. James! I’m rooting for you from the Midwest.
Blowing a kiss to the beloved hills I miss so much....

Ms. James vowed to continue the office’s scrutiny of the president. “He should know that we here in New York — and I, in particular — we are not scared of you,” she said. “And as the next attorney general of his home state, I will be shining a bright light into every dark corner of his real estate dealings, and every dealing, demanding truthfulness at every turn.”
Let’s go get this done now, Ms. James.

Glass ceiling? Shattered! Congrats Letitia James!

I was not impressed with Ms. James one debate with Mr. Wofford prior to the election. I thought that Mr. Wofford displayed a much stronger legal mind and ability than James. I did not vote for Ms. James; we will have to see how she performs in this job.

I agree. I was present to the primary debate where she faced off against Teachout and two others. While I walked in as a fan of James I walked out feeling she was less qualified for the position than some of the others.
