Why is it that religion and nationalism so often fuel the flames of of war? Can’t we all just accept that we have differences and grow from the fact that we are NOT all the same. What a boring existence we would have if you looked just like me and we looked just like them and they looked just like everyone else. If the governments and philanthropists of our age really want to affect change they should pool their resources and enable every 18 year old to travel abroad for one year between high school and whatever discipline comes next. The opening of young minds could change more in a generation than social programs and “wars” on drugs ever did or will.

the people of northern Ireland absorb hate and fear as part of a daily diet...separate schools, separate neighborhoods, separate flags, separate holidays, and most of all separate religions. here you can feel the legacy of the British Empire and 750 years of occupation.
