Thank you, Mr. Russonello, for this review. I read it while riding the California Zephyr and Capitol Limited across country, purchased it in Richmond, VA, at Plan 9 Records, and it is everything you write—and more. I love the juxtaposition of classical and rap, with Ambrose Akinmusire’s trumpet as a kind of bridge. It is a perfect example of the argument made in Nate Chinen’s “Playing Changes,” that jazz is indeed alive and well.
