This place sounds amazing. I have to go and get me some of that condensed milk infused french toast. Nothing beats the gigantic infusion of sugar on a Saturday. Something to help me keep up with the incessant energy of my 3 year old daughter.

My impression of this restaurant is that it is a place where one can take three daily meals, plus any number of morning or afternoon snacks inbetween. This is a rare kind of eatery. I liked most the big cup of black coffee (slide 10), inviting to drink it as an accompaniment to a cigar.

Yes! Kopitiams in Malaysia and Singapore are indeed places where people have all 3 meals. This place is authentic!

i’m sure i’d go if i were homesick in nyc but paying 4.25USD for teh peng still takes a liiiiiiiiitle bit of getting over

Pete: That was at least a two-star review. Why only one star?

@Eric I agree but then again practically every review he does is a two star one. I can't even really tell the difference in his writing why he rates restaurants as he does. They all end up sounding very familiar...

@ Eric Shelburne, MA & mbg14 New Jersey Dear Co-readers, Do grow up: one should take neither Michelin, nor Wells stars literally, but read the reviews between the lines. Apart from that, go for the eatery, if the review excites your curiosity or makes your stomach grumble.

@Tuvw Xyz why have a star rating at all then? What's the point?

"For that matter, so could the small sweets like pulut: triangular, pandan-wrapped bundles of sticky rice tinted with blue morning glory flowers and spread with toasted coconut sugar or house-made coconut jam." Fact check: 1. Not wrapped pandan leaves, but banana leaves. 2. Not blue morning glory flowers, but the butterfly-pea flower. The former is inedible. 3. Not toasted coconut sugar, rather a loose coconut candy topping made with grated coconut and palm sugar (jaggery).
Annie (NYC)
@Leo Thanks - I thought morning glory was poisonous and was confused by that.
Chris (Howell, MI)
@Leo. The restaurants website refers to this as "Morning Glory Sticky Rice, grated coconut sugar". The internet says morning glory flowers are edible (maybe not tasty?) but the seeds are not.
