I should mention that, in general, "hackers" are not necessarily defined as performing illegal activity. The term is probably better defined in the wikipedia entry as "is any skilled computer expert that uses their technical knowledge to overcome a problem." Facebook, for example, is headquartered at "1 Hacker Way", probably a reference to the original, benign, definition of the term. Over time, however, the term in popular culture came to mean security intrusion. Motives and agendas range from the "white hats", to the "black hats", from security professionals to activist groups and state-sponsored entities.

It’s good that you profiled the “white hat” or well intended cyber security members, who are often mixed up with those with malevolent intent. I think these good members quietly work to defend us and balance those with bad and financially motivated intent, and we need to appreciate their work.
