Looks like we hate a lot of the same things. Will you marry me?

Proposal videos are just plain vile. They're not just "a little coercive." They're a full on social assault. The guy (always a guy) who somehow hooks all their friends and both their families into an over-the-top dance performance isn't celebrating love. He's piling the public pressure on into a situation that should be deeply personal.

How can you possibly know what the woman on the other side of the proposal is feeling. She's probably as elated as she appears on the video. I think people are ridiculous for doing that type of thing, but that's just my personal taste. In what world does a beautiful, emotional and lifetime event like a proposal become a "sexist" tool...

Cringeworthy is the word that was invented to describe these events. Local news stations love this stuff. There is a direct link between public acceptance of this stuff and the election of Trump. Nobody ever lost money underestimating the taste of the American public.

I'm glad to see something that so accurately acknowledges the creepy voyeurism, cheap sentimentality, and unsettling undercurrents of these types of videos. Life's precious moments are not meant for, or special because of, public viewing. And the proposal videos are almost entirely about men making a public spectacle of women's emotions, which is not so subtly sexist.

Thank you for your video about hating proposal videos. In high school I was asked out in class in from of other classmates by a boy I wanted to date and I really liked but because he put me on the spot my instinctive reaction was to say no.
