I feel so guilty, I have tried so hard to like her. Because the Night is not bad, but I just do not get all this adulation. I remember her before she was famous from the poetry readings at St. Marks. I remember her being striking looking in a play by a friend of mine at La Mama. And she certainly photographed well, but I never really believed her. I was in a play with Debby Harry before she became famous, and I adored her. She and I went scavenging through an abandoned office above the makeshift theater on Franklyn street where we performed. I would go to her loft to rehearse my song for the show, boy was she tough with her band.

@Cheerful dramatist ... why even post this. Contributes nothing of serious content and more about how cool u r because u spent time with the artist.

I won't be able to see the performance but for those of us of a certain age, any Patti Smith performance is a magical experience. Thanks for bringing a little bit of it to us.
