He ran for attorney general with big $ from the wrong people, and lost big time. Now he want us to support him because he is the lesser evil? Give me a break and gag me with a spoon and any other comment you can suggest. He is the local icon of what is wrong with the democratic party.

I am a constituent and feel very much that Mr. Maloney under-represents the region. He is our drive- by Congressman. He is not from the region, is a relative newcomer and is very ambitious to be anywhere else than here. He has done little to help the problems of the region: overtaxation, poor transportation and haphazard development. He is the candidate of special interests, civil service unions and the Hasidic block vote for example. Although I want desperately to “ flip the House”, I cannot vote for him. After all, all politics are local as Tip O’Neill famously said.

I hope that 18th District voters don’t accept being a consolation prize for such a cravenly political individual.

The quote that concludes this article is a chilling commentary on today's politics. And true. And extremely dispiriting.
