This is how folk music died. Clueless cultural journalists, such as the one that characterized Cat Power as an “India folk singer”, are completely responsible for the chaotic classifications at record store and disappearance of anything approaching authentic folk music and authentic folk music performers. Ms Marshall may have an engaging voice, but it should in no way be mistaken for a singer performing in a nameable traditional style and her material is obviously composed again in something unrecognizable as a traditional style. There is one and only one acceptable definition for folk music - music in a named tradition that comes from a named tradition of non-professional cultural groups. Try the Library of Congress’s’ American Folklife Center loc.gov/folklife. You will find both their definition and collection steeped in tradition in the sense of music and song passed down and around informally as opposed to written or composed. Many of my colleagues and friends are not genuine “folk” but they make a sincere effort to style themselves after traditional performers and singers. In this, the Library of Congress’ folklore archive is an increasing invaluable resource.
One would think that the music business would be interested in honestly “selling” authenticity but, in my experience, that is not the case. Just a quick look at tabs in a popular music store will show their disregard for authenticity and the delusional characterization of what’s called folk music.
Actually there are two Spanish enclaves on African soil, Ceuta and Melila, both already surrounded by a double fence of roughly 20 feet.

As silly as his concept of a US border wall is, this is truly off the charts. At least a US border wall would be on, um, US territory. Last I checked Spain doesn't actually have a border that runs across the Sahara...how would our resident President suggest the Spanish arrange that? Or does he suggest that they build a Mediterranean Sea wall? Did he even realize he had flown over an ocean to reach Spain? What a moron.

Trump is now exporting his special brand of abject stupidity to Spain to dictate how they should deal with their immigration issues. I highly doubt Trump could find Spain on a map; now he's recommending a wall to 'protect' them from immigrants arriving from North Africa. Note to Spain: We apologize for the boorish behavior of our own 'caudillo.' We're counting the days until he's impeached, or leaves in disgrace.
