The acquisition of Whatsapp by Facebook, and the departure of the founders, makes the platform of questionable utility. It's impossible to know what's going on under the stewardship of Mr. Zuckerberg. I think you should stop recommending it as a secure communications method.

This is great for keeping news tips secret and secure. How about thinking about your subscribers and setting up a VPN so we can access the NYT without being barraged with advertising, having our every "click" tracked and letting someone or something interfere with comments we make that they don't like? No one is allowed to stand over my shoulder when I read a printed paper. Just because I buy a new door doesn't mean every employee of the company, their associates, their friends and their customers can just walk in. But that's what happens when we go online. Please. A Customer VPN. Now would be a great time. I have to go to the library to access the NYT pages I pay for and make comments because once again someone or something is trying to crash my new home computer. Customer VPN. A wonderful idea for today when more and more people are fed up with the invasion of OUR privacy. Thank you.
