I am a feminist but I have always disliked Steinem and felt she's used "the cause" as a tool for self aggrandizement. She's also spoken about her looks every time I've heard her speak. Nobody cares Gloria.

These two women are strong, powerful and talented. Excellent choice of Christine Lahti playing Gloria. Christine Lahti has always been one favorite actors. I have followed her career for years and have admired her performances in all her movies. One day, about 10 years ago, I was watching a movie at home with Christine Lahti in it, "Out of Ashes." Excellent movie; superb performance. I digress. The phone rings and it's my niece who lives in Austin, Texas calling to tell me that she's engaged to be married. She says her fiancé last name is Lahti or something that sounded more like Lottie. I asked her to spell his surname...she does, Lahti. I say, oh, one of my favorite actresses is Christine Lahti with that same spelling. And to my delight, she says, that's my fiancé's aunt. P.S. I got to meet her at the wedding.

Gloria Steinem has always been my heroine and Christine Lahti is one of my all-time favorite actresses. I think together they will be a force to reckon with. Women have come a long way since the 1960s, but the right-wing of the government is still trying to take control of our bodies and some men will always think they are superior to women and act accordingly. We still have the same assaults, but, thanks in large part to Ms. Steinem, we have the courage to realize that we have a voice and no longer back away from confrontations or our assailants. I like the idea of doing one outrageous thing. It’s a good practice.

Does “Gloria: A Life” cover Steinem’s CIA career? How about when she disparaged straight younger women as only governed by their reproductive urges? A very sexist comment for which she did NOT apologize.

The Bernie Bros deserve to get a few high fives for making Gloria famous again! For how else would we have known how sexist she is?

Ms. Christine Lahti is very talented. She is always good, but her performance as Sylvie in Bill Forsyth's adaptation of Marilynne Robinson's Housekeeping (1987) is especially fine. Highly recommended.

I've always admired and respected Steinem while being uncomfortable with her. She stood up when it was not easy to do so, and took the brunt of the backlash. However I'm not sure if she is cognizant of how often she disparages males by words or actions, or how often she implies that females are preferable in most every way. I of course know many men who think and act the same way, and I'm not comfortable with them either. Steinem is cut a lot of slack because her cause was and is the correct one, which is one of gender equality. I guess that the warriors of a just cause suffer damage in fighting for others. She does speak in a monotone and has a single perspective. I do hope that she is not as bitter as she seems to be.

I was first quite intrigued by this ... such talented artists (and iconic subject) involved ... then I got to the picture and decided I wanted to see something more diverse.

Gloria Steinem is my hero. She liberated me, in many, many ways. I came of age in the 60s and she showed the way. I didn't know I could say no. I didn't know I didn't have to be a secretary as my father told me to be. I didn't know so many things that she taught me. I owe most of my life to her and others like her. I am profoundly grateful that she exists.

Gloria Steinem in describing her #metoo moment, tells of biting Terry Southern on the cheek to discourage his advances. In response to Ms Lahti's reference to an assault, she replied that it was not much of an assault and puts the incident into perspective. She later talks about the fact that we don't only live in a patriarchy but that the patriarchy lives within us. Adult women must not expect men to read their minds or their silent signals and must be unequivocal (as Ms. Steinem) in their reactions (maybe not bite) to unwanted advances in social/workplace situations. Most men, unless they are criminals bent on sexual assault, will move on. That the "patriarchy lives within us" explains how women could ever vote for a man like Donald Trump.

@BLH Here's hoping something about Trump will be in the play. For all those decades of feminist activity to end up with him and his revolting misogynist minions, one of whom is probably about to join the highest court in the land, running/ruining the country is one of the saddest things that has ever happened in my life. I'd love to know how Gloria feels about this and whether there is any hope at all.
