What stood out to me is how the entire film was made with only quotes and conversations of the people of at the 9/11 memorial. It must of taken some real time and dedication to create a 18 minute film from other people's conversations. One question i still have is a wonder how many people go there in a everyday situation when it's not september 11th, is it still filled with people.Obviously there will be more people on a day to remember but is there still a decent amount of people on a regular day.

What stood out to me was that they were telling the little kids the stories. It stood out because we have to continue or no one will know the story. I didn’t know that people from over 90 countries were in the building. I know that it was a sad time so it has sad music and sad people. Why was there no cell phone footage? We were all told the stories when we were younger even though we didn’t get to experience the tragic event. No because I’ve never seen a video where it tells stories like this. I however have heard a lot about 9/11. It saddens me that people have to fo through his and every year they are reminded of what happened to their loved ones.

What stood out to me in this film was that they had represented the towers with pools of water and the walls of them with trees because it’s really significant to realize that where you are standing was once the entrance of a World Trade Center where hundreds died. What surprised me was when the woman had said not to put cups, elbows, bags, and other things on top of the names of the people who died, I respect that and I’m glad your not aloud to put anything on the names in respect of all those victims. When the guy said that he called his dad and asked him why he didn’t go to the city that day and he said no reason, so there’s no reason he still has a dad and no reason that a lot of people don’t. That hit me because sometimes I think what if my mom wasn’t there, and I would get upset and be thankful that she is. It reminds me of wars, military, and other things where people can die, it’s sad because so many people out there die every day because of political issues that could be resolved so peacefully.
Aneilia Ramsamooj (Orlando, FL)
A thing that stood out to me was how parents were educating their children about what had happened on September 11, 2001. Also, another thing that stood out to me was that how some people can just walk by it or stand by it and seem to not care. This stood out to me because on this day, something terrible happened and people will never forget what happened on this day. Something that surprised me was that in honor of every person’s name who died on this day, a fall comes out. Something I didn’t know was that in another plane, passengers fought back and saved that plan from crashing into the U.S. Capital. I was kind of sad because these people thought it was a normal day and they got up and went to work, not knowing that planes were about to crash into the buildings that they worked at. A question that I still have is why did the hijackers do it? What did they think they was going to get out of this happening? A personal connection that I can make is that my dad actually saw when the plane crashed into the twin towers. My mom saw it on television but my dad didn’t work too far from where it happened. This film reminds me of all the terrible things that happened like bombings, school shootings and more.

Something that stood out to me was the perspective the film is shot from. You feel like you're visiting the memorial yourself. You get the feeling of walking around the monument, seeing the sights, and hearing what the tour guides have to say. I found it interesting that some parents were teaching there children about it at a young age. I think it is a good too educate your children about american history. To the people that weren't alive it feels like a page from the history book. It's also helps us remember the people that lost their lives that day.
Curtis Garrett (apopka, FL)
A thing that stood out to me, personally was how they film was made to impersonate someone who is visiting the memorial with aspects like, what you will see and hear or feel when you visit. It stood out to me because it is a very interesting way to make a film in this way. What surprised me me the most was the amount of people from other countries and other parts of the world come to see this monument. This film was a very sad and, tragic i think the reason for it being this way was from it not being like most documentaries where someone sits down and talks, no, it gives a real life view of what it’ll be like to go there in person. I have seen articles and news reports about the monument but have never actually seen what it has looked like until now.
Brittany Reisinger (Florida)
The thing that stood out to me the most was the fact that people were able to walk by it and not even seem to pay attention to it. I was surprised to learn that the falls come out in single rivets for each person that died. I was kind of sad like all these people died because they were doing things they do everyday. A lot of people went to see it and I hope one day I can go see it.
Maurice Beasley (Flordia)
While I was watching the video, I noticed parents educating their children on the events of 9/11 and I think it’s important for everyone to know what happened that day. It’s interesting to hear people’s conversations on the matter and what they think about it. Everyone has different thoughts on a topic and some people are more educated from experience. People getting together to remember and mourn about the people that have died is beautiful in the fact that everyone shares a common idea and purpose for why they are there. It’s sad though to hear people’s story on what happened to them during the event, I can’t imagine what it would be like to get a phone call of a family member or a friend getting injured during the event. For the people on the plane that were able to fight off the hijackers are true heroes and their death was not for nothing, if you’re to do good then it’s worth it.
Marlina Casady (Florida)
In the film “Where the towers stood” the director displays how people react to 9/11. What surprised me the most was how many different people visited. People from all over the world were paying tribute and telling the story of what happened on 9/11 to their families. One thing I didn't expect was for the monument to be so large and how many people visit or just walk by it in their everyday lives. This video put out emotions like sadness and joy. People are sad because what happened that day was horrid but people also want pictures, like they want to remember. Messages I get from this are we should always be thankful for our lives and cherise little moments because some people don't get to pick if they live or die. I would like to know how many people visit. I can relate this film to tragedy like a death of a family member. This film is very powerful as it captures how people react to 9/11.
Mackenzie Hiner (Wekiva High School)
In this film, all of the parents were telling their children what happened on September eleventh, many years ago. You could see many people taking picture of the memorial and what's interesting about that is that in 2001, when it was all happening, no one actually took a picture or record a video of the towers collapse with their cell phones. In this short clip, everyone is looking up and remembering what is gone. There is an immense amount of respect in this video. I didn't know that the pool had a meaning to it. There is no way to see all the bottom of it and that symbolizes the emptiness they fell over the loss of all of those lives. I think that I’ve learned a lot from this video. Realizing how many people died and how we’ll never forget is so meaningful. This video is very sad and I think I will take over a feeling of sorrow. Many families have lost their loved ones because of what happened on September 11, 2009 and I don’t think I nor anyone else will forget.
Kaydence Jusseaume (Apopka, Fl)
In the film what stood out to me the most was the questions the kids asked after their parents were they told them about what happened on 9/11. For example, a little girl asks her dad if the towers were beautiful and why these people attacked them. I knew that we went to war soon after the tragedy occured, but I had no idea that we went to war just only two weeks after 9/11. Throughout the video I noticed that people years later are still in grief, and carry the burden of so many depressing emotions such as sadness and sorrow. Now that I have watched the video I now feel that I have a better understanding of the emotions that other people have towards what happened on 9/11. I still don’t fully understand why they decided to put pools in place of the towers. But I get the general idea that they represent the people whose lives were lost. I can’t make any personal connections with the video but it reminds me of a documentary called 9/11: years later, because it shows people's reactions and understanding of what 9/11 is, and what it represents.
Sidra Walker (Apopka,FL)
What stood out to me in the film was that people were telling their young children about the 9/11 tragedy. This stood out because I expected most people would want to wait to tell their children when they are older instead of exposing them to this type of subject at a young age. What also stood out was the way people were interacting with the memorial. People were touching it and asking for pictures with their family members, I would have expected them to not take pictures and just admire the memorial and pay their respects. One last thing that stood out was people were being very respectful. Nobody was littering or vandalizing the memorials which people often do to other memorials. This video reminds me of another video I watched in elementary school where they showed the 9/11 event and the memorial. It reminds me of this video because it showed people going to the memorial with their families. A message I took away was that the water symbolizes life.
Samara White (Florida)
In the video “Where the Towers stood” it showed visitors from around the world coming to learn, grieve, teach, and remember. Something that stood out was that everyone had their phones out taking pictures and videos. I like how there were people from different cultural backgrounds who all came to respect those who died at 9/11. They went up and touched the names to show respect which I thought was really sweet and some people left a single white flower in a name or an American flag. Something that really touched my heart was that they had a pool of water that people would cup in their hands to spread it across a name to show their grief or to respect the person, the water represents life. They order the names in meaningful adjacency which basically means that these people were together in life so they were also together in death.
Madeline H. (Orlando, Florida)
When I watched this short film what really caught me by surprise was the way the people interacted with the memorial. I would've thought that they would wish for people to keep their respectful distance, simply observing. Instead, the tour guides made it clear they didn’t want visitors to be apprehensive about interacting with the memorial, but rather to take it all in and really connect with their surroundings. The symbolism of the water washing over the names was beautiful, and I felt like a special interpretation could take place within each person. To me particularly I understood it as water representing life, and the act of the water leaving a victim’s name just as quickly as it was poured represents how fragile and precious life is. The water also represents that although tremendous pain and tragedy happened, nationwide healing and unity will soon take place.
Faulan Pierre (orlando,florida)
The film showed me many different perspectives of the 9/11 bombing. There were many people who lost someone in the bombing and who still miss them today. The affected people that were related to the killed were very honoring. There is a memorial set in place in the footprint of the second tower. Every year people from across the world come to mourn those they have lost. Many children are taught from a young age what the 9/11 bombing is. The effects on the people showed me how a big catastrophe on a nation can really bring them together yet tear them apart. The people were brought to gather because of a tragic event but were divided because they blamed each other of the event I learned that we should care more about each other and our Problems rather than judging each other on differences
Joslyn Lewis (Orlando, Florida)
In the film “Footprint: Where the Towers Stood” the waterfall stood out to me because there were individual rivulets for each person that passed away. I was surprised that the tour guide told the people to put their hand in the water and rub it over someone’s name. It was heartbreaking how people were just living their everyday lives when it happened. A question I still have is, why did they throw away the American flags from the graves?
Victor G. (Florida)
For me what stood out the most in the video was how there was people of different race and ethnicity all together with no fighting. That stood out to me because now almost everywhere you go there is always some arguments going. Another thing that stood out to me was that everyone was being really respectful, an example being when there was a person smoking and once being told that smoking was not allowed, they stopped. Now in days you rarely see this respect like this, lots of younger kids are starting to get influenced by people on social media in ways that make them think that being disrespectful is cool. Watching this video and seeing people from all over the world together in one place made me feel like there is hope for the future generations all over the world to come together and live in harmony and peace.
Ashley P. (Apopka)
After watching “Footprint: Where the Towers Stood”, what really surprised me was how special the 9/11 memorial was. People who were affected by the tragic event were shown respect when others came and visited the memorial. Something else that really stood out to me was that the World Trade Center employees were very diverse. I love how many people from around the world come together to support the families that lost friends and family during this tragedy. There was a lot of sadness in the video, because it shows people grieving, but there was also a lot of curiosity, especially from children. I noticed that there was a lot of people who asked questions about the event and the memorial. Some question I still have is how did we let this happen? Who would do this to innocent people? And, How can we prevent this from happening in the future?
Thai Do (Orlando, Florida)
After watching the film, “Footprint: Where the Towers Stood,” something that stood out for me was the respect shown for the monument and the people who were affected by 9/11. With the amount of events happening currently, I didn’t think there would be much, if any, respect in this situation. Something I was really surprised about was one of the people mentioning that many people across the globe, with different ethnicities, backgrounds, and religions, were together when this tragic event happened. It’s because it was something I never took the time to even think about, that so many diverse people and families were affected on that day. Some messages and ideas I gathered from the film is that we should respect and remember the people who passed away on 9/11. This film made me very sad that so many families lost a loved one due to 9/11. I still question why anyone would do this to so many innocent people, and how we could’ve prevented all of this.
Reighlyn Bailey (Orlando, Florida)
In the film, what stood out to me was the way everyone respected the memorials of those who died in 9/11.Everyone seemed interested in the history of it as well. I didn't know about the pools, like how they grouped people's names by who they knew and not in alphabetical order. sadness is a feeling that I felt from this, so many people died. But, there is also a feeling of respect for how brave and honorable they must have been. Almost everyone has lost a family member or someone they knew, and it hurts and it is really sad. Remembering them helps take that pain away.
Thi (Orlando)
1. A moment that stood out to me was when the man was talking about trying to reach his dad on the day of 9/11, because he was expressing so much emotion when telling his story. 2. When I watched the documentary, I found out and was surprised about how much symbolism the memorial had. 3. There was a lot of sadness in the video, because it shows people grieving, but there was also a lot of curiosity, especially from children. I noticed that there was a lot of people who asked questions about the event and the memorial. 4. A question I have: Why were there people taking pictures of themselves with the memorial while smiling?

In the Film Club: ‘Footprint: Where the Towers Stood’ The part that stood out to me was that there were so many different types of people of different races and religions that worked in the World Trade Center. It also stood out to me how they put the names of all the people lost during 9/11 and the groups they were associated with. This stood out to me because it must of taken an extremely long time to figure out who all of the victims were, what groups they were in, and reach out to all of their families. The message I got from this short film is that for no reason some people still got to see their family members, and for no reason, some people don’t; which is obviously very sad. One question I have is: how many passengers survived the plane crash that failed to hit a building.
Emily Borr (Apopka)
I think that remembering the past is always important, but I also think that if we dwell on it too much, then we will never move forward, which is why I’m glad that we have the 9/11 memorial. It is a reminder that we can never let something like that happen ever again. What really stood out to me was the parents teaching their children about what the memorial stood for, especially the really young ones. At that age, I don’t think I would have been able to comprehend the horror of what actually happened that day, and I still don’t think I do. I wasn’t alive for it, and although I know about the event, I don’t think I’ll ever truly understand the full extent of it, since I’ve never had and hopefully never will have an experience like that. However, I do believe that the tragedy of 9/11 did bring us some good, as it brought the people of many countries together to remember that we are not all completely different and that we will always fight to protect our people from whatever may come their way.
Dylan A. (Apopka, Florida)
After watching the short film, “Where the Towers Stood”, I was left fascinated about multiple things that involved the world trade center memorial. For example, there were several symbolisms involved in the memorial that intrigued me. Like, for instance, how their was a fall of water for each person that was killed and the fact that people can dip their hand in the pool, and rub the water on one of the names. Both of these were very impactful to me, because I think that is a very nice way to remember the lives that were lost. And also, the part about the huge empty void in the center of the pool, that represents the emptiness people feel, due to their lost loved ones. There may have been multiple very intriguing things that revolve around the world trade center memorial to me, however, there was still something I left wondering about. At the end of the video, it shows a man collecting the tiny flags that were on the memorial. I’m curious as to why this was needed to be done. In conclusion, I was very intrigued about the customs involved in the world trade center memorial, after watching the short film, “Where the Towers Stood.”
Maya Ingraham (Florida)
In the film one of the tour guides said that people are allowed to touch the names. This stood out to me because usually memorial rules or any historical display do not allow people to touch it, only look at the display. I think this helps people reconnect with their loved ones. I was also surprised by how much symbolism there was in how the memorial was built: the hole is the emptiness that we feel, the water represents the lives, and how the names are arranged with the people they worked with in life. Additionally a message that I got from the film is that 9/11 should be remembered as how regular citizens became heroes that day not how terrorists ruined lives. A question I have is how come the United States government did not detect this attack and prevent this tragedy from taking so many lives? I connected to this film because usually what I see after incidents, such as the shooting in Vegas or Parkland, that involved innocent lives being taken, social media/media in general focuses a lot on the killer/villian in that situation rather than the people that lost their lives. So I appreciate that this film viewed this incident from a different view and showed how the 9/11 attack still affects people today. There was another film that I watched that also wanted to show the people that were affected and those who fought back and to remember their names and legacy.
Diana (United States)
Every year on 9/11, at school we would stand for a moment to respect and give recognition to the people who passed and their families. When the event happened, I wasn’t even born yet. I knew of the events that happened, but I will never understand the heartache and grief that people at the moment felt. For me, during the video what stood out to me was the amount of people who goes to where the World Trade Center once stood and would videotape or take a picture of themselves there. It stood out to me because many people are remembering and reflects on the incidents, I thought many would try to forget a depressing and harsh event. I thought of how terrifying it must be to wake up one morning like every other day and to turn on the t.v or radio and to hear about a plane crashing into one of the largest buildings and killing thousands of people. Also how heart-wrenching it must be to the families of the victims. I also wonder what were the thoughts of the passengers on the plane. The passengers on the plane were planning to go somewhere for a reason, work, visiting a person, vacation, ect, but they instead for going to the airport, they were crashed into a building. Though the events that happened on 9/11 were depressing and hard, I am glad we still remember and never forget so something like hopefully never happen again.

In the video “Footprints: Where the Towers Stand” the thing that stood out to me was how the falls come out in individual rivulets for every person who passed away on 9/11 this stood out to me because I didn’t know how the falls were operated like that. What surprised me the most was that on one of the planes the passengers fought back and prevented the plane from crashing into the U.S Capital I was surprised because I didn’t know there was another plane besides the ones that crashed. I was really devastated that the people who died were doing things that everyone does in their live and that is going to work. When I was watching this video I was wondering in the void of the falls where does all the water go. I have never been through this experience before so I cannot relate to it. This film reminds me of the LA shooting because even though it was a person from America they still killed about 50 people.
Conner (Orlando, Florida)
After watching the video it makes me feel sad that those people died doing what mostly everybody does and that was get up and go to work. There were a couple of surprises that I heard when I was watching and that was that I thought there were only falls as a memory but no, there is an entire area dedicated for where the Twin Towers stood so that people can see what it would have felt like when the Twin Towers were there. Another thing that surprised me is that for every person that died they have a line of water running down the waterfall, that probably symbolizes that we all have one line of water that symbolizes our life plus that we are all one river united together. The next thing would be that they let you put your hand in the water and put your hand on a name to symbolize life and probably also give a prayer to that person that lost their life on 9/11. The last thing would be that the water falls into a void to show he emptiness we feel when somebody dies which is very true as we all feel like a peice of us leaves when a friend or family member dies.
Francisco Aguilar (Orlando, Florida)
Something that stood out to me was that the site of where the twin towers were located has a stage there every 9/11 to have family and friends of victims say their name and their loved ones name for the whole day. This stood out to me because the memorial holds a remembrance of the innocent people who died on 9/11 every year on 9/11. What surprised me was how deep the fountain of the memorial was and that every stream represented a person who died at 9/11. I thought they put the names of people in alphabetical order but they put the names in in the area of where them and their colleagues were at. The video made me feel sad and sorry for the people who had loved ones die in 9/11. It made me feel sad because I would also be sad if I had a loved one die during 9/11.
Brian Baca (Florida)
1. In the film the scene that stood out to me was when the parents/adults were talking to kids explaining what had happened on that tragic day. The kids started wondering why people would do that in the first and the adults had to explain the best that they could. 2. I was surprised to hear that on 9/11 every year people stand up on a stage, that is placed there, and explain how the event changed their lives and the lives of their loved ones. Something that made me even more surprised was that this happened throughout the whole day. 3. I was sad to hear what had happened and I feel bad for anyone that had family or friends in the buildings when it had happened. 4. I still wonder why the event had to happen, like why would any human being think of doing something like that. 5. I can’t really make a life experience connection with this event because I was not there when this had happened. 6. This does not remind me of anything that I have read before, this was truly a unique event that hopefully will not repeat again in the history.
Keshawn Collington (Orlando,Florida)
The hurt man who killed those victims the question I ask is.What did you gain behind all this:what was the value of morals and intentions that led you to do this?
Keshawn Collington (Orlando,Florida)
@Keshawn Collington 1.What stood out to me was the many rituals and different traditions they had .Because it showed that they still have deep connections with the ones that were lost by showing honor and respect. 2.There was were some surprises and things I haven't known ,Because I knew that they was a open grave site where those who died laid but I never knew about the waterfall and that it stood where the building that collapse was. 3.The massage I got from this passage is never take life for granted because you could be gone in a second.Because you are not promised anything in life . 4. The question I have is what did they gained from killing them? 5.The connection in this situation to me would have to be, cherish the people you have in your life and how as people we take for granted. 6. This film reminded me of a lesson we learned in english making a connection to this story how there were people who was trying to leave the building but were told guards to go back up causing them to loose their life.
