We have Kanye and Roseanne on the one hand while on the other, we have Trump and Pence. "So what?" You ask. My point exactly. These late night hosts are making of our questionable leaders precisely what they deserve.

He's proving liberals can't push him around? Kanye West - 41 yrs old, emotionally 14! Maybe Kanye'll feel differently the day Trump's "Apprentice" outtakes are finally released, reportedly with Trump frequently spouting 'the n word.' Until then, Kanye can enjoy this act of childish rebellion, supporting our hateful racist president who may be forced from office after we see evidence from Mueller that Trump's a traitor who sold out his country to Russia! Sad!

Jimmy! what a disappointing interview - boring and not being interested in the specifics is the problem - the reason black people vote a certain was is because it's in their interest - and I'm not interested in his non-specific-ness...

His ramblings here make little to no sense. May I ask, what does “ break the simulation” mean? Also, Mr. West, a couple grade school notes for you. A diatribe comes from one voice, and isn’t at all akin to a dialogue., which is two or more. Really? You’ve never heard of a class that teaches you how to balance a check book? It’s called a “personal finance” class. Most high schools offer them. I’m glad Kimmel called him out on a few things, or at least tried before West interrupted him and then left him dumb struck by his last Trump question to him. His dumbest of all was, (referring to children) “we are too protective. We all don’t want someone to get hurt.” Ummm, yes correct. Note to readers: don’t call on this dumb cluck to babysit for you. Shame on him for supporting this divisive and racist President. To think that people actually listen to him and take his gibberish to heart is scary.

The height of Kimmel's career was when he was Ben Stein's gofer on their old show. In his present gig he is probably the dumbest and most blatant tool of the Trump hating showbiz industry.

Kanye West was an incoherent moron. I felt badly for Jimmy Kimmel who had to pretend to understand what was being said. Shame on the New York Times for quoting West. Not a good editorial decision that contributes to the dumbing down of America.

I'll say it : Uncle Kanye. Seriously.

So Kanye voted based on the spectacle of Trump, not his policies. What an absolute idiot.

I like Kimmel, but he did a gross disservice to the American people here. Not by having Kanye on, but by having him on, chumming & cozying up to him, laughing at all his jokes, allowing him to avoid the question about Trump after the break.....honestly, I'm disgusted. Nor did he challenge Kimmel when he brought up protecting the 2 year old & Kanye responded by saying we're "too protective"? Brings up an example of an adult? How about saying, "uh, it's different for a toddler, Kanye." ?!!!? How about challenging him on his ridiculous assertion that history does not repeat itself, or the insinuation that those who believe so are obsessed or have bad priorities?! And what -- we need to give all these corrupt politicians a HUG and it will all go away?! Why did Kimmel allow him to go unchallenged after the break?! I am SICK of celebrities who do not understand, or who are careless, with their platform and their power to influence. Even comedians have influence.

If you have a chance, watch the entire interview. Kanye chooses to not contribute regarding politics. But he is speaking about his bi-polar diagnosis and mental health. That's a good thing.

There's simply an ignorance of basic civics emanating from Kanye when he equates "politics" with "policies". Policies are the governance underpinnings of any government, and Kanyes pride in defending his ignorance is a symptom of his millionaire entitlement status, a position in society that allows he and trump to say and do what they want because their money insulates them from any concrete consequences. Also, Kanye is a poster child in the debate between self-absorption and rational introspection, the latter Kanye might find "too specific".

I pay as much attention to Kanye's political endorsements as I do to Trump's rap recommendations. (And yet both are self-proclaimed geniuses. Emphasis on self.)

Happy, handsome, rich, talented, doesn't need to be smart. Or filled with compassion for the people bullied by Trump and his GOP. Sick kids, elderly, vets, the poor, the planet. Plus, Mr West is p'bly getting a tax break. Donald has been the bully all his life. Ask a bunch of women. The contractors he stiffed. Mostly, who cares what Kanye West thinks? He's not a star because he cured cancer, developed the latest hot technology, solve hunger or ended wars. He likes the favorite candidate of neo-Nazis and white supremacists and oligarchs on every continent. No cognitive dissonance. At all.

I guess I understand why he can support Trump - he doesn't seem to understand the facts - even those as simple as the earth revolves around the sun. Now, there will be those that understand the facts and still support Trump - they just do not include Kayne.

Kanye isn't news. Roseanne isn't news. Kanye and Roseanne are broken people who e profited from their brokenness, to the detriment of their own health and a perverse enjoyment by the public. We have far more urgent and dire issues to grapple with. --- What Trump Did While We Weren't Looking https://www.rimaregas.com/2018/08/07/greed-malfeasance-never-sleep-blog4...

This is the television comedy section of the newspaper, Rima.

@M.E. This is the Television section and this is filed under the best of late night. Comedy isn't all that is aired on late night, and Kimmel is a late night talk show in which he does comedy and tackles serious issues. This doesn't address the months long conversations about Kanye and Kim West as they pertain to their relationship with Trump.

I didn't know what Kanye West looks like, tho I knew his name, so when I flipped through the channels last night and stopped for a few minutes at Kimmel, I didn't know who his guest was. However, as I listened, I was struck by how inarticulate and illogical and, frankly, wacko, Jimmy's guest seemed, and wondered who it was. As it didn't seem worth watching b/c I really couldn't understand what the guest was trying to say, and I got so distracted by the ridiculous gold "grill"? on his lower teeth (which I had just seen for the first time in Blindspotting last week) that I turned back to Perry Mason. Reading the story today that identifies Kanye for me, and wondering if this is the celebrity who appeared with two others in front of a painting in the WH last year(?) in a controversy over their vocal support for Trump, I now get why Kimmel's questions that I saw seemed so atypical for him. Kanye may have talent in some field/s, but political discourse sure isn't one of them. I can understand, unfortunately, why he's so comfortable supporting a similarly limited president.

I like Kanye. There is a sweetness about him. The comment about loving his cousin even though he has done something bad resonates. He has some personal connection with Trump and he won't walk around it. Maybe Trump was kind to him during a low point.

I will never understand why anyone gives any more weight to what a celebrity says than what they'd give to a fern.
Molly Bloom (Anywhere but here)
@Citizen Some years ago, Ficus ran for the Congressional seat in New Jersey’s 11th District as a write-in candidate on both the Democrat and Republican Party ballots. Tonight, Mike Pence is headlining a fundraiser at a New Jersey country club for Republican candidate Jay Webber who is running against Democrat Mikie Sherrill for the seat. If not for the stellar Ms. Sherrill's candidacy, I might consider writing in the fern. https://www.mikiesherrill.com/ https://www.vote.org/

The problem is exactly that it's not about the policies. People don't care about the specifics of things that have great impact on their lives-healthcare, environmental health, and so much more, because policy actually takes work to understand. Who had time for that when they just want to be entertained by tweets and celebrity.
Uptown Sunni (New York)
"I'm not concerned with the specifics." What Kanye means is that Gallileo being persecuted for proving the earth revolves around the sun (which is true) is the same as Trump being called on any one of the 6.5 big lies he tells daily.
YogaGal (San Diego, CA)
Kanye and T rump have a lot in common. Mostly being a celebrity. And, oh... being insulated by money.
BKLYNJ (Union County)
Siding with the most prominent (and powerful) bully our nation has ever produced to take a stand against bullying makes perfect sense to me.
Dream Weaver (Phoenix)
I've never heard Kanye in a candid moment. He's an interesting guy.
CKent (Florida)
@Dream Weaver Interesting to himself and to you, maybe. To me, not at all. He's just another boring braggart.
