For the First Time, Gamblers Bet on Sports at Meadowlands Racetrack

Our wonderful New York legislature, the most free ride of all free rides, couldn't find the energy to push through a sport betting law, so maybe the people in New York City who want to legally gamble could gamble in nearby places like Yonkers raceway rather then having to drive over the George Washington Bridge to the meadowlands. With all the taxes we pay, it seems these lazy, self important professional politicians only show up at election time, and their only job it seems is to find new ways to street tax new York city residents, by adding speed cameras, and red light cameras in as many places as they can. if they passed sports betting it would add to the State coffers, so maybe they could lower our taxes. All legislatures are places of corruption, but I think the New York State Assembly is the worst in the country. In the grand scheme of things sports betting is pretty low on the shelf, but its a perfect illustration of how professional politicians think, act and conduct the people business, which is they work as slow as possible, argue among themselves and nothing ever gets done. Like anywhere, they figure if they work too hard people will expect it from them all the time, and really what do any of them about hard work, and the thinking of hard working people.

For those of us below Central Park, the Meadowlands is actually close and much easier to get to, but I agree with your general point. Albany asleep at the wheel as usual.
