I realize that this article is devoted to the unity brought about by the success of England's soccer team, but perhaps the author might have considered a paragraph on the massive success that the Russian hosting of the World Cup has proven to be -- n/w/s American MSM's near-blackout of this success, the Rest Of The World is certainly aware of it.

I suspect Andy Byford new to your parish and mentioned in your many articles about the subway won’t be in the office this afternoon. And if Southgate brings this home he’ll be Sir Gareth within the week. I hope they do it tonight, I really do.

France is far and away the best team at the 2018 World Cup.

England wins, hard Brexit, Scottish independence.

I’m hoping for a Lord Nelson vs. Napoleon final. Of course, with Lord Nelson winning!

Thanks for including the Scottish and Welsh perspectives and for making clear that England, with only 2/3rds of the landmass of that island, does not = Britain.

This is the England national team. Scotland and Wales have their own teams. For what it's worth 85% of the UK population live in England.

Dear England players, Please bring the cup home for your country, yourselves, your fans, and for my ex-pat husband who is beside himself with joy and trepidation at the moment. And yes, he'll be wearing his 1966 3 lions shirt (a replica). Thanks!

Sport plays an important role in society. Sport can be a great diversion from daily life/politics. Sport can give hope to fans and supporters. Nobody really expected England to get this far, even England fans. I'll be cheering for the Three Lions. I hope football is coming home.
