The most interesting article in this week’s New York Times is “LeBron James Joining Lakers on 4-Year $154 Million Deal,” by Marc Stein and Scott Cacciola. James decided to leave his hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, to join the Lakers. In his tenure in Cleveland was very successful as he won a Championship but James know it was time to leave as he is now onto his next challenge: Rescuing the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers have long been considered the league’s most glamorous team, but they have missed the playoffs each of the last five seasons. The Lakers hope Lebron James with his play and leadership will be able to get them a spot in the playoffs this year. This article was interesting to me as it was about one of my favorite sports, Basketball. As well as my favorite basketball player, Lebron James.

An article that I found interesting was “Where a Taboo Is Leading to the Deaths of Young Girls” by Jeffrey Gettleman. The article is about young women in Nepal who are suffering due to the practice of chhaupadi (seclusion for women during their menstruation each month). Chhaupadi is a traditional practice that has been going on for years but many still refuse to break it (despite the causes of discomfort, injury, and even death). Women are on their menstruation process are looked down upon in the society and therefore are required to be secluded in a small hut at the time in fear that they will bring disease or sickness. I think it’s terrible to know that in other countries there are still women being shamed for something that is very natural. These women deserve justice and should have the right to their home just as men do. I found it interesting that although this isn’t fair to the women and seems pretty pointless to go through, it’s as if they are afraid to break tradition because it’s something they’ve been telling themselves to believe in god so long. It’s important that we work to educate others on why this is not ok to find these women the justice they rightfully deserve.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/20/technology/tech-companies-conquered-c... I personally think that cities turning into to more technology driven places is better because that would mean that everything would be safer and going from point a to point b would be way easier. I think this is also great because it would mean that internet speeds would be amazing and be even faster than what they are today. I so interested in the fact that cities can become so much more efficient with technology. The streets would become safer too because of Tesla (Car Company).
