There's another Iona Island that is part of Bear Mountain State Park in New York State. It's only a few hundred acres, along the west shore of the Hudson River, and is accessible from Rte 9W/202. It was once a Navy site of some sort, and now is a nature preserve prized by birders, as well as center for research of Hudson. Hikers will recognize it, since the parking area for Bear Mountain's Cornell Mine Trail (blue blazes) trailhead is there along the road.
