You need a west coast based reporter on immigration. Also, perhaps more diverse folks working on the issue. I think it would meaningfully affect the tone. While I greatly appreciate your reporting on this story. I found some of it grating.
Never mind. Just, thank you. I should not listen to these stories. It’s emotionally too much.
Can you please explain why you refer to Yeni as a "migrant" when at about the 3 minute mark, you explain that she is seeking asylum? She is an asylum seeker. These terms have serious political and legal implications and despite the sympathetic tone of the story, the repeated use of the term "migrants" when you refer to people fleeing violence and seeking asylum in the U.S. diminishes the perception of their legitimacy. Punished for crying ... children punished for CRYING while asking for their mothers. Are you getting this!! Threatened by cold-hearted government goons, the stormtroopers of Trump. THIS is what American IS now.
Do you approve of this ... will you permit it to continue ... what are you made of ... do you approve of heartless torture of mothers and innocent children?
You didn’t credit the reporter who did the story on WNYC
