Culture of Fear and Ambition Distorted Cuomo’s Economic Projects

This article doesn't make it clear at all what the prosecution's case is against Dr. Kayoleros, and what his motive was. Kevin Schuler, the former vice president of the Buffalo development firm LPCiminelli, has turned state's evidence, pled guilty, and is expected to testify against his prior co-defendants Louis Ciminelli, Cor Development executives Steven Aiello and Joseph Gerardi, and Kaloyeros. The other trial is going on out in Syracuse, and it is puzzling why the NYT gives the trial of Kaloyeros sole billing here, or even prime billing. Even more puzzling is the question: "OK, suppose Kayoleros did it, out of "potential ambition and fear" ... who told Kayolaros that the Cuomo administration was corruptly supporting these firms or individuals? Why did Kayoleros believe these claims? Schuler says Howe was the intermediary to the Cuomo administration, but the administration says he was nothing of the sort, and just running his own con. Everybody blames Percoco -- he's already convicted. “It’s no secret that we’re a hard-charging administration, which is what has been needed to break through the gridlock that paralyzed New York for decades,” Mr. Azzopardi said in a statement. "Hard charging" means what? Paying off whom? And then the obvious question -- follow the money. Where did it go? And how much of it got kicked back as campaign contributions?

Cuomo is an obsequious toady to Wall Street and particularly NYC's real estate barons, who pretty much run this state's government from the top down. To anyone less powerful he is a miserable bully, as if to vent his humiliation. I'm beginning to believe there should be term limits not just on individual politicians but on last names. Dynasties are never a good idea. Thanks for reminding us Andrew.
