R crumb did a great illustrated version of the book of Genesis.
Please send a copy to Trump, though I'm not sure he'll understand the cartoons. But Hannity or Bannon could explain them to him: Bolton cannot because he always pushes for preemptive war and regime change, not exactly the best tactics for avoiding war, as favored by "The Art of War."

Wonderfully clear!
It would be better if your article mentions Tsai's from Taiwan. He grew up in Taiwan and published most early works there. Kids in those days enjoyed his works, among others, which were limited entertainment available.

Note that answer to the the question about Mr. Tsai's military service clearly indicates that he is from Taiwan rather than from mainland China.
If you read the article carefully you'll notice that the gentleman discusses his time in the Taiwanese military.

The so-called "Art of War" by the alleged "General Sun Tzu" is actually a methodology for peace produced by the "School of Sun Tzu" - an academy founded by the Qin kingdom - which went on to found the Chinese empire by the application of the Sun Tzu methods. Any "interpretation" of this methodology in anything but peace terms is incorrect and an offence to the memory of China's founders.

I've been interested in Sun Tzu's Art of War for some time, especially since Trump took office. There is a great deal of wisdom there, and I appreciated this review since I haven't read the original (in any translation). I wish Trump was forced to read this (and more):
"From very early times, the Chinese attitude toward warfare was that you need to end it as quickly as possible. The way to do that was to use irregular fighting: special strategies and tactics so that you could minimize the loss of life and the damage to crops and villages and so on. This started very early in Chinese history. Sunzi says the point of warfare is not the fighting but the winning. He says that anger can turn to happiness later, but a dead person can’t be brought back to life. A country that is lost can’t be brought back either. So the main goal of war from a Chinese perspective is to avoid it at all costs, or to figure out how to win while suffering the least amount of damage."
Wisdom is not bullying and posturing, it is knowledge and preparation. What a hope!
Thank you!

Ping-fa (incorrectly translated as "art of war" instructs 32 times that conflict is to be avoided. And those who lose control and get into conflict ....... should be dismissed.

I've often felt that Romance of the Three Kingdoms (Sanguo yanyi) was more influential in actual Chinese thinking about war, since it is so well known through plays, art, and the novel itself. But I've never really studied it myself. I wonder if Mr. Tsai would be interested in giving it a similar treatment, although there would have to me much more plot.
