"This transformative masterpiece was in many ways an uplifting slap in the face of white America." Can we please stop with the generalized "white America?" How about instead, "racist America?"

Do black African American artist make black African American art? What is profoundly meditative about any form of representational art?

Thank you for telling us about Mr. Jaffa. Thank you for this article. Also....hearing Al Green singing “Jesus is Waiting” brought tears to my eyes in light of yet another shooting today, the general sickening state of our country’s race relations and the severe dysfunction in our government. Yes, Jesus is waiting, and crying in the meantime.

Wonderful!!! Can't wait to see it!

Sounds interesting. Wonder if it's as good as the Adrian Piper exhibit at MOMA. Piper is also black but female and older and in the art business longer than Jafa. She'll be 70 soon. Hers is a brilliant mind that never encountered a fact or situation that didn't provoke her to deep insights. And a great artist, especially portraits.

It stirs my soul to know this powerful work is out there. If it were a traveling exhibit, we midwesterners would welcome and applaud the force of it.
